Chapter 62: Chapter 62 Chapter 62: Chapter 62 Aiden woke up the next morning feeling disheartened.
He couldn’t believe that Ariel didn’t sleep beside him that night.
He had thought that at the end of the day, they’d finally spend time with each other.
But he had been so wrong.
Jess had been with them for the whole day, and Ariel had been glued beside Jess till it was time for her to go home.
But, last night, as Jess was about to go home, he was glad that he was now going to be able to be alone with his wife; however, when Jess informed him that she was going to her home with Ariel that night, he had called her bluff until Ariel confirmed the arrangement herself.
His heart had chattered a millionfold, and he knew he couldn’t stop her; he didn’t have the right yet.
And, that’s how he ended up sleeping alone last night.
Aiden got out of bed feeling empty; he slowly walked into the bathroom brushed his teeth, and then proceeded to take a shower.
He was meeting Ken and Viktor that morning for a business with some foreign agents.
He would have gone alone, but Ken has now become his partner in some of his businesses, so it made sense that he was present, too.
After a shower, unlike him, he would have quickly left the house after he wore his suit, but he didn’t; he went downstairs and even asked Anna to make him some breakfast; he was hoping to see Ariel when Jess brought her back.
He couldn’t explain it, but he just felt that it was illegal to step out of the house without seeing Ariel’s beautiful face that morning.
“Damn it, Jess, answer your phone,” He muttered as he sat on his sofa looking expectantly at his phone.
He had tried calling Jess’ number four times, but each one was busied as if she was purposely cutting him off.
It made him restless, he started to wonder what Jess was up to.
He knew she could be very mischievous when she wanted to be, and he dearly hoped that she wouldn’t make Ariel do things that weren’t things she would normally do.
The entrance door suddenly opened and Aiden instantly looked up but was disappointed when he saw Viktor and Gregory enter at once.
He sighed and looked away, he had thought that it was Ariel who was returning.
“Good morning, boss.
Mr.
Viktor is here to see you,” Gregory announced.
“Come on, Greg, we’ve known for what?…” Viktor counted his fingers, paused, and shook his head, “We’ve known each other forever, yet you still treat me so formerly; it breaks my heart,” Viktor made a puppy face at the guard, but Gregory remained stoic and unmoving, looking ahead of him and not sparing Viktor a glance.
“Hmph!
He’s proud, too,” Viktor’s scoffed and turned away from Gregory.
“Hi, Aiden, ready to move?” Viktor asked as he walked toward Aiden who was still sitting as if he had no plans of going anywhere.
“Call Jess,” Aiden suddenly said.
“What?” Vicktor asked with a confused frown.
“Call Jess,” Aiden repeated.
Viktor regarded him for a second before he took out his phone and dialed Jess’ line.

“But, why don’t you just call her yourself, she’d answer you faster than she’d-” “Hi, V.
What’s up?” Jess’ voice sounded from the speaker of Viktor’s phone.
Vicktor’s eyes shined as he heard Jess’ voice.
“Oh, hi, Jessie, where you at?” He questioned.
Jess was quiet for a while before her voice was heard again, “Just out; everything okay?
You with Aiden, right?” She asked.
Aiden heard her question and was about to give Viktor a sign to tell Jess that he wasn’t with him, but before he could do it, Viktor already spoke.
“Yeah, I’m with him, want to speak to him?
Hello?
Jess?
Hello?” Viktor frowned and looked at his phone.
“She ended the call…” He said in disbelief.
Aiden scoffed, “I knew it, she’s up to something mischievous,” He stood from the sofa and walked past Viktor.
“Come on, let’s get going; I think I have Something to do after the meeting,” Aiden spoke coldly.
Viktor followed him behind, wondering what was going on between Aiden and his lovely Cousin.
Why did it seem as if Jess was avoiding Aiden?
And why didn’t he see Ariel this morning?
Gregory drove out one of Aiden’s latest cars stepped out, opened the door for them, and drove them away from the house.
Viktor was staring at Aiden’s quiet figure, wondering what was going on in his mind.
Aiden was always quiet, but his quietness that morning seemed strange.
After an hour of riding, Gregory opened the car door for them.
Aiden stepped out and immediately started to walk into the tall building, he wanted to be done with all the business he had for that day so he could quickly ride over to Jess’ house and take his wife back.
“Hey, wait for me!” Viktor got out of the car and ran toward Aiden who had almost entered the building.
As Aiden entered the building’s reception area, he saw Ken speaking with the receptionist.
“Good morning, Mr.
Chaz,” The lady greeted.
Aiden didn’t look at her; his mood wasn’t just one to talk to people that morning.
“Morning, Aiden, we have a little bit of a problem,” Ken informed, turning away from the receptionist.
“What’s happened?” Viktor asked.
Aiden remained quiet, hoping it was not something that’d make him angrier than he already was.
“Well, Mr.
Burrington’s second wife just gave birth, and he just called and informed me that he’ll be taking another two hours to fly down to us,” Ken informed.
Viktor tried his best to hold his laughter when he saw the unbelievable look on Aiden’s face, but at last, he let out.
He laughed out loud, holding onto Aiden’s shoulder as he did.
Viktor sniffed and straightened himself, “Oh, come on, man, don’t be mad.
It’s just two hours of waiting for a sixty-year-old man whose second wife gave birth…it’s nothing strange in the business world, right?” He asked Ken who also had mirth on his face.
Aiden was seething with anger, who does Mr.
Burrington think he was?
Keeping Mr.
Chaz on standby because of his personal situation?
Did he think he didn’t have personal issues to attend to, too?
He made a decision: he wasn’t going to wait for Mr.
Burrington; he was going to attend his other business meetings, and after he was done, he would leave immediately.
He wasn’t waiting for Mr.
Burrington.
He looked at Ken with his emotionless face.
“Call Philips; tell him I’m ready to meet him now,” he ordered and walked away, toward an elevator.
*** Ariel was sitting in a cafe, waiting for Jess to bring over their order.
They had just finished seeing a movie that evening, and now, they were here for some food.
She was glad she decided to follow Jess back to her house, every moment had been worth it.
She felt so free and alive, something she’d never experienced before.
With Jess, there was no one to criticize or judge her, no one to set rules for her to follow, no one to discriminate her, and, no one to lie or deceive her.
She was herself; for the first time, she had no obligations to follow.
Last night, after playing games with Jess, they had eaten all the junk one could eat for a lifetime, chatting and making jokes, and Jess made sure she didn’t bring up any topic concerning men, especially Aiden.
Ariel realized that, after all, women didn’t really need men in their lives to make them complete beings; she decided that having a man in her life would be by choice, not because she was seeking validation or happiness from him.
She was the only one who could validate herself and give herself happiness.
“Ariel, we need to leave,” Jess rushed back to her with a bag of wrapped snacks clutched in her arms.
“What?
Are we not supposed to-” “Just come, Aiden is heading over here!” Jess grabbed Ariel’s hand and dragged her out of the chair.
“Oh!” Ariel stood and followed Jess behind, people were looking at them weirdly as they hurried out of the café but Jess was focused on getting Ariel out of that Café They reached Jess’ car, and Jess immediately opened the car and let Ariel in first, then she quickly ran over to the other side and entered the car, too.
Ariel was staring at Jess in confusion as she quickly started and drove off.
“Wheew!
That was close; our girl time was almost ruined by him,” Jess sighed.
Ariel realized the coast was clear for her to ask questions.
“So, how did he find out where we were?” She questioned.
Jess quickly glanced at Ariel and focused back on the road, but she didn’t reply.
Ariel tilted her head to the side and observed Jess; why did she seem evasive?
“Jess?
How did Aiden find out where we are?” She questioned again.
Jess sighed heavily, “Remember the picture we took in front of the café?” Jess asked.
Ariel nodded, “You sent it to him?” Jess shook her head, “No, I happened to post the picture on my Instagram story and…
well…I didn’t hide the location, so, he viewed and sent me a text that he was coming to take his wife,” Jess looked at Ariel as she said the last part.
Ariel scoffed, “Wife he said, indeed,” She nodded.
“Well, it’s good we left on time,” Ariel smiled.
“Yes, what’s the time?” She asked Ariel.
“6: p.m.” “Awesome, La Playa is opened, we’re going clubbing!” Jess announced excitedly.
