Chapter 72: Chapter 72 Chapter 72: Chapter 72 “There’s a celebration this night, ” Jewel said to Ariel as they walked out of the company’s building.
“Oh…” Ariel replied, uninterested.
Jewel frowned and stared at her; she’d been moody for half of the day.
Ever since she left Aiden’s office, her mood had been strange.
She seemed as if she was always lost in her thoughts.
Jewel was dying to ask her what went down between her and the inside the office, but he kept his mouth shut, it was none of his business.
“Hi!” Ariel was startled as Jewel suddenly screamed beside her.
But, before she could look beside her to ask him why he screamed that way, she saw him run past her and toward two people who were standing in front of the company.
Ariel squinted her eyes and surprisingly realized that one of the people standing there was Jess.
Why hadn’t she realized it at first?
Was she that carried away by Aiden’s thoughts?
She sighed and walked over to Jess who was still trying to find out how she was going to escape Jewel’s tight hug.
She never thought they’d be close, but she had never seen them together either.
She guessed it was normal since their grandmothers were best friends.
“Jewel…that’s enough…I’m choking…” Jess faked a choking speech while patting Jewel’s back as she asked him to release her from his octopus hold.
“Oh, sorry, I was just too excited to see you.
Where have you been?
You even missed the drama with Bella today,” Jewel informed Jess about the spicy gossip.
Jess raised her brow, “Ah, really, she came,” She chuckled.
“Yep, and she wanted to get cocky as usual, but…guess what happened?” Jewel asked with a mischievous smile.
“Umm, what happened?” She asked.
“Jess, I will Catch up with you during the party,” The guy Jess was speaking to gently said to her.
“I’m so sorry, Mr.
Yu, I promise to find you then,” Jess politely nodded.
“Goodbye,” Yu said and left.
“So, guess what happened,” Jewel asked again, eager to tell Jess everything that happened in her absence.
“What happened, Jewel?
Did she make a mockery of another employee and demand the person be fired?” Jess asked.
Jewel shook his head, “No, she happened,” he pointed behind Jess, smiling proudly.
Jess frowned, who was behind her?
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
She slowly turned and looked behind her, “Ariel!” She immediately hugged her.
Ariel was smiling because she had succeeded in surprising Jess, she had been standing quietly behind her, listening to her and Jewel chatting.
“Hi, Jess,” Ariel laughed softly.
“So…you gave pretty Bella some action huh?” Jess chuckled.
Ariel shook her head, “Nah, just made her understand that she had no right in this company,” Ariel replied.
Jewel went ahead to explain to Jess how everything went down during the meeting.
After they discussed it, Jess offered to take Ariel shopping to get new clothes for the company’s party that night.
“I’ll tag along.
I’ll just leave my car here…after all, I’ll be coming g back here later tonight,” Jewel said as they walked toward Jess’ car.
“I don’t really want to shop for new clothes, I can just wear-” “No!” Jess and Jewel responded at the same time.
“Right…” Ariel shut her mouth and simply nodded.
Jess was about to open her car when she heard her name from in front of her car.
“Jess?” Aiden called and walked over to her.
Ariel immediately felt her pulse increase with the mere presence of Aiden.
Her mind flew back to their time together in his office, making her cheeks flush.
She shifted her face away from him, looking everywhere but at him.
“Hey, your husband is here,” Jewel whispered to her.
Ariel clenched her fist, wishing she could punch Jewel with it.
Why was he trying to make matters worse for her?
There she was, trying her best to find a way to not look at him or remind herself of his presence, but Jewel suddenly decided to make all her effort go to waste.
“Don’t be loud, Jewel…he’s still here…” Ariel whispered.
“Oh, Sorry,” Jewel giggled softly.
“We are about going to shop for new clothes, want to join?” Ariel heard Jess asking Aiden.
She immediately snapped her head toward her, her brows furrowed deeply as she glared at Jess.
Jess knew Ariel was looking at her but she refused to turn to her head.
Aiden smiled, raising his face to look at Ariel, “I’d like to join, and I’d like my secretary to accompany me to select a fitting outfit for the party,” He narrowed his eyes at her.
Ariel sighed, ‘Here we go,’ She thought, frustrated.
“Of course!
Boss, she’d accompany you, I and Jess would just be on our way, right Jess?” Jewel questioned.
Jess nodded vigorously and entered her car, “Hop in, Jewel,” She waved him in and slammed her door shut, escaping Ariel’s furious look.
“Um, bye, Ariel…see you at the party,” Jewel waved and quickly escaped into the car.
The moment he shot the door, Jess rolled the car away from there, leaving a big space between Aiden and Ariel.
“Shall we, Secretary?” He asked.
Ariel sighed.
“Why are you doing this?” Aiden shrugged and walked toward her, “Doing what, Secretary?” He paused in front of her, staring right at her eyes.
Ariel shifted back, “Right…nothing boss, let’s go,” She replied and started walking over to his car.
Aiden smirked and quickly followed her.
Before Ariel could open the door, Aiden beat her to it and grabbed the door handle before she did.
“Let me,” He slowly opened the door and stepped away to give her space.
“You shouldn’t have,” Ariel muttered as she entered the car.
Aiden smiled as he closed the door, then he quickly rushed over to the other side of the car and got in.
Inside the car, Ariel quickly fixed her seatbelt so that Aiden wouldn’t use it as a reason to get close to her again.
Aiden entered the car and Ariel fixed her eyes ahead.
She didn’t want to look at him.
Aiden shut the door and turned to Ariel, he smiled when he saw that she’d already fixed her seatbelt.
She was really trying to avoid him.
But, he wasn’t going to let her achieve the distance she wanted.
He slowly started to lean in toward her.
Ariel saw him from her peripheral vision and turned to him in alarm.
“Stop!
Don’t get closer, I’ve already fixed the belt, see?” She pointed to the belt across her chest.
Aiden paused beside her face and smiled.
“I saw that, but that wasn’t my intention,” he replied.
Ariel frowned, “Then, what do you want?
You can move away from me then,” She spoke, still not looking at him.
Aiden shook his head, “No,” He raised his hand to her face and made her look at him.
Ariel was lost in his eyes for a second, how can a human be so fine?
She blinked her eyes, but instead of looking away, her eyes fell on his sexy lips, causing her to unconsciously lick her lips.
Aiden chuckled, “I just wanted to kiss my wife but…” He paused and licked his own lips, placing his thumb gently against her lower lip, “It looks like I’m not the only one wanting a kiss,” his voice went lower as he spoke.
Ariel blinked, “No, I don-” Before she could finish, Aiden covered her lips with his in a soft kiss, gently placing his hand behind her neck.
Ariel felt defeated, defeated sweetly.
Her mind felt like it was floating on a cloud and her knees were starting to feel weak, Aiden was kissing her so tenderly, as if she was some fragile doll he didn’t want to break, she didn’t even realize that she moving her lips with him until Aiden slowly pulled away and she couldn’t feel his lips anymore.
She opened her eyes and saw him staring down at her with very dark and expressive eyes.
Aiden smiled at her, “You’re beautiful,” he whispered.
Ariel’s cheeks immediately turned red, and she shifted her eyes away from his, “Thank you,” She found herself saying in a soft voice.
“I love you,” Aiden kissed her cheek and returned to his side of the car.
As the car drove away, Ariel felt her stomach turn into a butterfly garden, the fluttering even went as far as her heart.
What was this feeling she was getting just because Aiden Chaz told her that he loved her, and she knew he sounded genuine?
Why was she reacting this way to him?
She believed that she didn’t have feelings for him and would never have feelings for him.
She had to keep her emotions in check; somewhere in her heart, she felt her wall starting to crack, and if she didn’t guard it well, it’d end up crashing down.
She didn’t think she had the power to not fall in love with him…
