Chapter 75: Chapter 75 Chapter 75: Chapter 75 ‘Is this the part where he kidnaps and kills me?’ Ariel thought as the car drove deeper into unknown areas.
Aiden glanced at Ariel and saw how tense she looked, he moved his hand over and placed it on her thigh.
“Relax, love.
I know what you’re thinking, I’d never do that to you,” Aiden assured.
He left his hand on her thigh and used his other hand to drive.
Ariel might be quiet, but in her mind, she was at ease with Aiden’s assurance and she felt a lot calmer with his hand that was on her thigh.
Their headlight soon illuminated a graveled path, and their tires soon started to crunch over the graveled path as Aiden drove towards it at a slowed pace.
Ariel looked ahead and soon realized that they were on a Ranch; she could hear the sounds of horses, cattle, and even sheep all around the area.
Her worry was back, why was Aiden bringing her to a Ranch?
This was like a scene for a perfect murder and kidnap.
He could just kill her and mix her blood with that of the horses and no one would ever know.
Aiden rolled the car to a stop in front of a large barn.
He turned his face to Ariel and saw her staring out of the window.
“Hey,” he leaned in and unbuckled her seatbelt, but before he could say any other thing to her, Ariel pushed him away from her side.
“Enough, Aiden.
Why did you bring me here?” She asked sternly.
Aiden sighed; she didn’t trust him.
It hurt him a little, but he understood, after all, he had brought her here without any information whatsoever, so, her reaction was justified, but still…he was hurt.
“Come on, you’ll find out yourself,” He replied and got out of the car.
Ariel skeptically pushed her door open and went down too.
Aiden left his headlight on because it seemed like the lights in the Ranch were purposely turned off.
He went beside Ariel but didn’t touch her, “We’ll be going into the barn, sweetheart,” Aiden said to her.
Ariel didn’t reply, she quietly followed Aiden closely, scared something might happen to her if she walked behind him.
Aiden noticed how closely she was walking beside him and decided to hold her.
He reached for her hand and gently covered her smaller hand with his.
This time, she didn’t push him away.
They reached in front of the barn and the door opened immediately from the inside.
“Good evening, Mr.
Chaz,” A girl dressed like a cowgirl bowed to Aiden as she stood beside the opened barn door.
“Catherine,” Aiden nodded at her as he stepped inside the barn, holding Ariel’s hand tightly in his.

“Good evening, Mrs.
Chaz,” Ariel was surprised to hear the girl greet her as she followed Aiden into the barn.
She turned her head to look at the girl but she couldn’t see her face as her cowgirl hat was covering her face.
“Um, hello,” She nodded at the girl.
The atmosphere wasn’t right for her to correct the girl on the way she addressed her, she was more curious to know what they were doing inside there.
“Where’s she?” Aiden asked Catherine.
Catherine immediately walked past Aiden and pointed to the far end of the barn.
“She is locked at the storage, Mr.
Chaz,” Catherine replied.
Aiden nodded and led Ariel walk past the box stalls.
It was a large barn, so, Ariel had enough time to look into each Box stall they walked past, noticing how the horses were peacefully sleeping, she’d never seen a horse before in real life, so, for a moment she was lost in admiring their beauties, especially the white horse she had seen.
It wasn’t lying down like the others; it was standing, its pretty face staring out of her stall as if she wanted to see the people who had visited their barn late that evening.
“She’s Nona,” Aiden suddenly paused in front of the white horse’s stall.
Ariel was surprised to see that they had stopped; she turned to look at Aiden and realized that he’d been noticing how she was observing the animals.
“She’s pretty,” Ariel smiled.
Aiden felt his heart melting at the genuine smile he saw on Ariel’s face, unfortunately, it was for a horse, and not for him “Do you like her?” Aiden asked.
Ariel nodded, “Nona…she looks special,” She said.
Aiden smiled, “Come on, let’s not disturb the animals,” he slowly led her away from Nona’s stall.
Ariel gave the horse one last look and almost felt like the horse was staring right at her soul, as if it wanted to communicate something to her she couldn’t understand.
They reached the end of the long barn as Catherine had pointed to them and Aiden pushed open a huge wooden door by the right side of the barn.
Ariel squinted her eyes, trying to see anything from the pitch-dark room…nothing.
“Stay close to me, don’t stumble,” Aiden slowly wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
Ariel didn’t object, she willingly went closer to Aiden and even clung to his suit.
The room was dark, but she could tell it was a storage of hays from the smell of wet and dry hays she smelled.
“Turn on the light, Catherine,” Aiden suddenly ordered.
In the next second, Ariel had her eyes tightly shut because of the bright lights from above.
“I’m sorry, I should have gotten you a shade.
The light here is quite intense because of how large the space,” Aiden whispered to her and gently removed her hand from her eyes, “You can open your eyes slowly, it’ll adjust in time,” He whispered close to her ear.
Ariel obeyed and slowly opened her eyes, Aiden remained quiet beside her until he was sure she’d adjusted before he quietly asked.
“Okay?” She nodded, “Yes.” She looked around the place and saw that they were amidst high-hipped hays that were reaching the high ceiling of the tall barn storage.
“Why are we here, Aiden?” Ariel asked, “I’m really getting scared,” She confessed; she was done being brave; she could no longer remain quiet, her fear was eating at her.
Aiden heard her shaky voice and gently turned her to look at him, he held her face and lowered his close to hers.
“Relax, Ariel.
I gave you my word, I would never hurt you.
First of all, I’m no psycho or maniac; I’m just a man in love trying to keep his wife safe.
I need to you believe me, even if it’s this once.
Okay?” His voice was so low, his eyes so tender as he stared down at her eyes.
Ariel saw how open Aiden was being with her and decided to trust him this once; she had no other choice, he was the only one who could actually keep her safe if anything should happen to her.
“I…I trust you,” She replied softly and couldn’t believe the way Aiden’s eyes immediately lit up.
He lowered his face as if he was going to kiss her, and for some reason, Ariel wanted him to, but just as their lips were about to touch, he paused and smiled at her, “Thank you for trusting me,” Then he moved away and led her around a tall hip of hay.
Ariel stared at the hay and wondered how long it took to stack them up that high.
They walked around it and got to another tall wooden door; this door looked more like a staff’s room, where the workers could get their clothes changed.
“Bring her out, Hugo,” Aiden ordered no one in particular.
But in the next second, Ariel was startled a little as she saw the wooden door open and a very tall man with an anchor tattoo on one side of his glassy bald head walk out from it, but, his tattoo wasn’t what worried or scared her, it was the human-like figure inside a sack bag that he was casually carrying over his shoulder as if it was just a sack of hays to be offloaded.
“Good evening, Mr.
Chaz, Ms.
Chaz,” Hugo bowed to Aiden and walked past him with the human-like figure on his shoulder.
“Come on, baby,” Aiden said softly and led her to follow Hugo behind.
Hugo led them in another direction, away from the path they had walked before; Ariel noted that this storage was more like a maze, and she was sure she would get lost in it if she was ever left alone.
“Is that a human?” She tugged Aiden’s sleeve as she whispered to him.
Aiden nodded, not looking at her.
It freaked her out; he had just casually nodded as if it was something normal they were witnessing.
They emerged in a clear space and Hugo dropped down the human figure in a high chair at the center of the clear space.
“Uncover her,” Aiden ordered.
Hugo wasted no time in pulling out a knife from his farm boots and slicing through the sack bag.
“Oh my God,” Ariel gasped.
“Relax, he’s just opening the bag,” Aiden assured.
“Mr.
Chaz,” Hugo called as he took off the bag to reveal the person under it.
“Abbey!” Ariel gasped and staggered back as she saw the pale, unconscious girl on the chair.
