Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Ariel’s body was shaking as she struggled to stand on her feet.
Aiden was holding her up by the waist, holding her close to his body, “It’s alright, she’s alive,” Aiden whispered.
“Wh-what, why have you kidnapped her?” Ariel stammered.
Aiden sighed, “It’s not what you think, come on, you’ll find out,” He replied.
He held her arm and led her toward the chair; Hugo stood behind the chair, silently waiting for an order.
Aiden and Ariel paused in front of Abbey, who was still unconscious; he looked at Ariel and then turned his face to Hugo.
“Wake her up, Hugo,” he ordered.
Ariel was not comfortable in the slightest way, this whole scene looked evil and sinister to her.
She watched warily as Hugo fished out a syringe from his pocket; it had a clear liquid in it, which she didn’t even want to ask what it was.
Hugo proceeded to move the syringe toward Abbey’s neck while Ariel kept watching in apprehension.
Hugo pierced the syringe into the side of Abbey’s neck and pushed the liquid into her body.
The moment he removed the needle from her neck, Abbey’s eyes snapped open and she harshly dragged in air into her lungs.
“No, no, please, I’ll talk, please!” Abbey almost fell off the chair as she tried to shrink herself to become invisible when she saw Hugo beside her.
“Quiet, the boss is here,” Hugo coldly warned her.
Abbey whimpered and bit her lips.
She looked around, and that was when she noticed Aiden and Ariel standing not far from her chair.
“Mr.
Chaz!” Abbey slipped from the chair and lowered herself to her knees in front of Aiden.
“Mr.
Chaz!
Please, I’m sorry, I was wrong, please, don’t kill me, I’ll tell you everything you want to know!
Ariel, please, I was wrong,” Abbey wailed on the floor.
Ariel was lost, what was going on?
What was Abbey talking about and how did she even end up here in the first place?!
“Sit down, Abbey,” Aiden ordered.
Abbey immediately struggled to get up and lowered herself back on her seat.
“Speak,” Aiden permitted.
Abbey looked scared.
She swiftly moved her eyes from Ariel to Aiden, weighing what she would say that wouldn’t put her in more danger, but as she thought of it, everything she was about to say was unpleasant to the ear.
“I- I admit that I had planned to send someone to kidnap you, Ariel, I’m sorry, I was blinded by anger and jealousy-” “Who was your accomplice?” Aiden moved closer to her, his tall shadow looming over her.

Abbey could be seen physically shaking, Ariel stood in the same position, trying to grasp what she’d just heard.
‘Abbey was planning to kidnap me?’ Ariel thought quietly.
Abbey never knew that anyone discovered that there was someone else in this with her, but from how they sounded, it seemed like they weren’t aware of whom she was discussing the matter with.
“There’s no accomplice, it’s just me- Argh!” Abbey screamed and covered her hands over her mouth.
“Think again, girlie, or this would go through your head in less than a second,” Hugo pointed a gun to Abbey’s head.
Abbey was a mess; she immediately locked her eyes with Ariel in a silent plea, she didn’t want to die, but at the same time, she couldn’t tell them the whole truth.
“I’ll talk, please, I’ll talk,” She put her hands together in front of her and begged Aiden.
“Let her speak, Hugo,” Aiden said.
He looked back at Ariel and stretched his hand to her, inviting her to come and stand beside him.
Ariel slowly walked toward him, but she didn’t take his hand, her attention was focused on Abbey, eager and curious to hear her story.
“You wanted to kidnap me, Abbey?” Ariel asked in disbelief.
Abbey gulped loudly, her throat feeling very dry.
“I’m sorry, It wasn’t my plan initially, but when I got fired, a woman walked up to me at the mall and asked if I knew you, and when I said yes, she told me that you were an imposter, and she asked me to help her plan a kidnap, because of the bitterness I still felt from losing my job, I had agreed, but, I didn’t get the opportunity to do it, someone found out our plan, and…here I am,” Abbey explained quietly.
Ariel couldn’t help but start to imagine the woman who must have met Abbey at the mall, she couldn’t think of anyone, she would have thought of her stepmother, but she wasn’t in the same state as them, or, wait…maybe she had come to visit her daughter and decided to create chaos as usual.
“What was the lady’s name, did she say?” Ariel questioned, trying to piece together the puzzles.
Abbey went quiet.
“Hugo,” The moment Aiden called the bald man, a gun was pressed beside Abbey’s head again.
“Oh no…
her name, her name is Catherine, Catherine Hudson, Eva’s mother, please don’t kill me,” Abbey no longer wanted to protect anyone apart from herself, Eva and her mother could sort themselves out for all she cared.
She would never let herself get killed because of those manipulative duo.
Aiden was surprised for a moment; he slowly turned his face to Ariel beside him and saw that her face was just as surprised as his.
That meant she knew something she wasn’t telling him.
Ariel was frozen for a second before she quickly arranged her features, she couldn’t let Aiden find out anything from her.
“Catherine Hudson, hmm,” Aiden narrowed his eyes at Ariel.
The mention of the name Hudson reminded him of his doubts about Ariel.
He had always thought that Ariel didn’t fit the characteristics of the Hudson’s daughter he’d heard.
Had his Grandma mistakenly made him marry the wrong person?
What was he going do if Ariel turned out not to be the Hudson’s daughter his grandma thought her to be?
Also, last he checked, Ariel’s last name was ‘Dew,’ not Hudson, so maybe, this incident was about to bring out the truth to light.
He’d gotten carried away for a while and forgot to look into Ariel properly, but now, everything was about to play out fine.
Ariel was starting to feel uncomfortable, this was going in a very wrong direction.
“She said Ariel is an imposter.
Did she tell you how?” Aiden questioned.
Ariel suddenly became tensed up, this might be the part where Aiden found out the truth about her.
Abbey eagerly nodded, “She said that Eva is her only daughter, She’s the right Hudson daughter who was promised to marry into your family.
But, somehow, an unknown person,” Abbey paused and looked at Ariel, “She came from nowhere and pretended to be the Hudson daughter and deceived your family into marrying her to your brother.
Now, she had also used her influence as your in-law to land herself a job beside you as your secretary.
She said that Eva was the right person who should be your wife and secretary; that’s why she wanted to kidnap Ariel, but, I swear, she promised not to hurt her,” Abbey raised her hand beside her face as she swore to Aiden.
Ariel and Aiden went quiet, each with a different thought running through their minds.
Aiden was thinking about the whole complicated situation and who his mysterious brother was, while Ariel, on the other hand, was kind of relieved.
She was glad that Catherine didn’t identify her as her child, at least, she wouldn’t be tagged as their daughter.
She had thought Catherine would have exposed how she was an unloved and maltreated daughter, but she almost forgot that for Catherine to accept that she’s a Hudson meant that there was no hope for Eva with Aiden, so, she chose to label her an imposter just so her daughter still stood a chance.
But, as she thought deeper about the whole situation, she suddenly saw how everything might turn out bad for her.
What if Aiden suddenly decided to divorce her even before their contract ended?
What if he decides to marry Eva instead just to please his Grandma?
Then, she would be left with nothing, after enduring all this.
She wasn’t going to let that be her story.
Even if Aiden asked her for a divorce, she wouldn’t agree to it, she had to find a way to make sure she got everything that was promised to her before this marriage.
“Is that all the information you have, Abbey?” Aiden asked.
Ariel looked at him and saw that his expression had turned stoic.
She knew he had started to think about what he was going to do with her, he’d started to doubt her.
Abbey nodded, “Yes, Mr.
Chaz, this is all I know, I promise, I know nothing else,” She swore.
Aiden nodded, “Then you shall find out more…” His voice was foreboding.
Abbey stared up at him in fear and confusion.
“In exchange for your freedom, you shall return to the lady, Catherine, and find out all she knows about Ariel, and only then, shall you be completely free from my watch, understood?” Aiden asked, his features hard.
“Y-yes, Mr.
Chaz.
I will do as you’ve asked,” Abbey immediately bowed her head.
She was ready to do anything that would get her out of here; she’d been locked up for three good days, and she would die if she was left here one more night.
“Take care of her, Hugo,” Aiden said and immediately turned and started walking away, leaving Ariel behind.
Ariel saw that and quickly followed him behind.
She didn’t care what Hugo was about to do to Abbey; she needed to make sure everything was good between her and Aiden.
She got inside the car and saw Aiden sitting quietly, not starting the car.
Aiden saw her enter but didn’t move to look at her.
He was trying to figure out the best approach to go with the whole situation.
Ariel cleared her throat as he saw him slowly turning to face her, she only hoped her face was as cute as possible at that moment.
“Aiden-” “Who are you, Ariel?” Aiden stared right at her as he asked in a serious tone.
