(BL) Hunting The Field Guide - Chapter 112
Chapter 112: Celebrities?
No, we’re Field Guides Chapter 112: Celebrities?
No, we’re Field Guides Kellen helped Brent gather everything they could carry on the first run and they headed for the obstacle course room.
It was empty, since they had booked it for the day, and Brent and Kellen began setting it up.
Kellen went back to the Field Office to grab the last few things from the office, leaving Brent to set everything up, while Kellen ran around the Guild tower to pick everything up. He had to stop by the storage area to pick up the rack that held all of the uniforms as well.
No one approached him as he moved around the tower, but he definitely felt their gazes on him.
He hoped it wasn’t for any negative reasons.
Maybe they just hadn’t seen anyone in a Field Guide uniform before?
It wasn’t common for them to be worn around civilians, so maybe that was it. Eventually, Brent and Kellen had set up everything the way that they wanted, and Kellen was proud of them.
It wasn’t a classroom in a traditional sense, but it was the kind of classroom that Kellen could make.
Brent sighed, looking over everything with his hands on his waist. “This is probably the best we’ll ever be able to do.” He said, and Kellen nodded in agreement. The room was wide, and because of the small space near the door with the cubbies, Kellen had the idea to do stations.
By the front door was the table with all the booklets on it, and beside it was the rack with the uniforms.
It made it easy for the students to find their sizes, get changed since the change room was right in front of them, before they would go over to the area set up with pylons.
That space was marked out into a few sections so they could go through some stretches, and Brent had drawn on an eraser board some demonstrations and reasons why. After that, they were going to run the obstacle course, mark how far everyone got on the first try without Kellen or Brent running it, they would then run it.
They would then run it again slowly, and point out what they were doing.
Then, the students would run it again, and then Kellen and Brent would sit down with the booklet, go through the plan for the course, and this was the last time people could drop out.
He was worried that people would get scared, and that was understandable.
Kellen didn’t want anyone to join if they weren’t serious about it.
People who weren’t, died quickly. “I think we did a pretty good job for us.” Kellen told him with a smile, and Brent glanced over at him.
For a moment he didn’t say anything, but then his shoulders relaxed and he sighed. “Yeah, we did.
Well, is it time to go pick the first batch up?” He asked, and Kellen glanced at the giant clock on the wall.
They had planned to pick the first group and second group up from the Guiding Division about ten minutes before they had said the classes would start.
They were quite early.
It was only 9:45, so they had some time to kill. “We have some time.
Did you want to go grab a cup of tea or something?” Kellen suggested and Brent gave it a thought before nodding. “Sure, why the hell not.
You’re paying though.” He warned and Kellen laughed, holding the door open for him as they left the room. “Of course, your highness.
I must pay for recruiting you, right?” His eyes danced when he looked over at Kellen. “Of good, you understand why.” They were finally able to chat as they headed down to the cafeteria and stopped into the coffee shop.
Kellen felt a part of himself relax that he hadn’t known he was tense about.
Even as he felt others stare at him, he felt his shoulder drop in relaxation.
He joked around with Brent as the two of them waited for their drinks, even as the gazes were even more prominent now, and finally, a soft looking young lady approached them.

“Um, excuse me, are you two celebrities?” Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and Kellen glanced behind her to find she had two friends hyping her up.
The three of them were wearing visitor badges.
Brent bent down, putting his face closer to hers. “And why is a cutie like you curious?” Her face exploded in colour. “Oh, um, you two are just so handsome and eye-catching that I wanted to ask.” Kellen laughed, before turning a smile in her direction. “No, I wouldn’t say that we are, but we might be a little famous.” Brent glanced at him, before winking at her. “He’s a preeeeetty big deal.
Don’t let how humble he is deceive you.
We’re Field Guides.” He told her and her eyes widened.
“You two are Guides?
But I thought-” She covered her mouth, and Brent chuckled. “Field Guides are built a little differently, darling.
But I appreciate the compliment of you approaching us.” They called Kellen’s name and he turned to grab their drinks.
He handed Brent his.
“Well, if that’s all, we should get going.
Thanks for the conversation!” Brent told her, and Kellen waved at her. “Uh, wait!
Can I get a photo with you?” She practically shouted it, and Kellen glanced at Brent.
They had time to do so.
Brent shrugged. “Sure.” Kellen said, and then found himself and Brent on either side of this little woman, both of them smiling like Guides.
She was glowing, so excited to take a photo with them.
Kellen was surprised.
He had no idea that this was a reaction that they could possibly get.
Especially after he had felt everyone’s eyes on him as he moved throughout the tower. Her other two friends came over and asked them for the same thing, and suddenly the two of them were surrounded by mostly girls, and a couple of guys who wanted a photo.
Brent was living for the moment, while Kellen found himself pretty flustered.
It ate into their drink time, but it also felt a little good to have positive attention on him.
Or even Field Guides in general. Eventually, they were able to escape, and the original trio of girls waved at them enthusiastically as they headed for the elevator.
Brent and Kellen waved in return as they made their way down towards the Guiding Division.
Brent was glowing.
“That was quite an event.” Brent said casually, but his grin gave him away.
“I was shocked.
I didn’t think they’d think we were celebrities.” Kellen told him, and he scoffed.
“Really?
Kellen, you practically glow anywhere you go.” Kellen blinked, stared at the man who had more partners than Kellen could ever imagine.
The one who had overcome even Hill in notoriety on the front lines.
The blond haired, green eyed fuck machine of the front lines. “I don’t think I’m the one who they were really interested in.” Kellen told him rather seriously and Brent gave Kellen a strange look.
“Kellen, both of your parents are still heartthrobs, and you and your sister very clearly inherited their genes.
If they weren’t so devoted to each other they could still get it from anyone.
I have no idea why you’ve never seen yourself as objectively attractive, but you could have hoed just as much as I did, and still do on the front lines.
You just always shut people down unintentionally.” He chuckled, shaking his head.
“I remember a time this guy came up to you and offered to help you set up your tent with you and you stared at him like he was dirt beneath your shoe.
The poor guy was devastated since his friends had hyped him up to talk to you.” Kellen gave Brent a confused look.
“Well, I guess I could be conventionally attractive, but being a Guide comes first.
And I’m a Field Guide.
If I can’t set up a tent on my own, I shouldn’t do my job.” Brent threw his head back and laughed, his shoulders shaking so hard Kellen worried he was going to spill his drink.
The elevator doors opened just in time. “This is exactly it.
He was hitting on you.
He wanted to be alone with you and maybe steal a kiss from you.
He wasn’t trying to insult you.
He wanted to, you know, get the romance going.” Kellen stared at Brent, not comprehending it at all.
“He could have just straight up asked instead of doing it in a strange way.” Kellen muttered, and Brent laughed harder.
They stepped out of the elevator and Kellen took a sip of his tea.
They had to stop at one point so Brent could press his forehead against a wall, trying to catch his breath while he wheezed. “Oh fuck, no wonder the Captain is so sneaky.
You’re so bad.
I don’t know how you got this way, but I wish him luck.” Kellen was confused by Brent’s words, and also concerned. “Are you alright Brent?
And I don’t think the Captain’s sneakiness is his alone.
All of the Captains I’ve met have been sneaky in some regard.
But I don’t know why that would be important in this conversation.
The Captain isn’t trying to-” Kellen stopped himself, knowing damn well that what he was about to say wasn’t true.
Unlike the man that Brent was talking about, the Captain had made himself very clear.
He had told him he was planning to seduce him, and he was actively working on it.
Maybe he’d even confessed?
Kellen couldn’t remember, but he wasn’t about to lie to Brent about it. Brent stared at Kellen as his face turned red and he gave a wicked grin. “Ooooooh, he’s doing a lot better than I thought.
Good for him.
You have to tell me how it went after, alright?” Kellen gave him a look and he smirked.
“Well, you’ll understand after it happens what I’m talking about.
We have to go meet our first class, right?” He cut off the conversation, turning to head down the hallway, whistling.
Kellen followed after him.
Kellen knew that Brent was teasing him because it was easy, and it was a way to distract himself from his own problems, so he ignored the way it made his chest ache, and his heart race. He was right.
They needed to focus on their new potential students.
