Chapter 123: This isn’t a romantic relationship Chapter 123: This isn’t a romantic relationship When Kellen looked over the food containers as they were revealed, a strange feeling came over him.
He looked over the steaming meatloaf, potatoes and other dishes of similar high calories and he grew puzzled.
It was almost as if… “Did Taylor send you the list of everything I should be eating?” Kellen asked and the Captain gave him a strange look. “Of course she would.
Anything involving you is my business, Mr.
Woods.
Especially if I am the reason you have to eat such a diet.
I should know this at the very least.” Kellen was surprised by his response.
The Captain’s slight improvement in mood disappeared and he was now glowering at the container containing a vegetarian curry in front of him.
It seemed that Kellen had offended him. “I, uh, well, I wasn’t sure if you would care.” The Captain froze, before turning his gaze towards Kellen.
From his expression it appeared as if he wasn’t only upset, but now hurt. “Mr.
Woods, why on earth would you think I don’t care about you?
Have I not made it obvious that I care a great deal about you?
That I always have?” There was something in his tone that made Kellen’s heart throb.
Kellen stared up at him for a moment, silent, before he opened his mouth. “I-It’s not that I didn’t believe you,” he started, and the Captain’s face darkened further.
Kellen licked his lips.
“Okay, maybe I didn’t quite believe you, but I’m still trying to wrap my head around this.
I feel like you know so much about me and about all of my bad habits now, and I know next to nothing about you.
You’re looking out for me and I feel like the balance in our relationship isn’t fair.
I don’t feel like I’m doing my part here.” The Captain seemed surprised by Kellen’s words.
He reached out, cupping Kellen’s face in his hand, making sure that Kellen was meeting his gaze. “You’ve spent a very long time looking out for everyone else around you.
I thought it was time for someone to look after you, Kellen.
Are you upset that I am trying to do that?” He was, but he didn’t want to say it out loud, because it wasn’t just a feeling of upset.
It was a strange, tingly feeling.
Knowing that the Captain was trying to take care of him stirred up that feeling, but he didn’t know what it was.
Even with that feeling, that felt tingly and warm, Kellen still meant his words. “That may be true, but it’s the same for you, Captain.
How long have you been taking care of others?” The Captain smiled warmly.
“Just the thought of you wanting to look out for me is enough.” Kellen frowned. “That’s a cop out and you know it.
If I said that right now you’d get upset, saying something absurd like I was trying to put distance between us.” The Captain’s smile didn’t change as he began to rub his thumb against the skin of Kellen’s face.
Kellen swallowed. “You’re right.
I would protest if you said that.

Alright, so, how do you want to look out for me?
Do you have anything in mind?” He asked and Kellen felt himself shrugging. “I just said I don’t feel like I know anything about you.
I know you’re primarily vegetarian, and you like oranges.
You also like fancy clothes and cars, and you like to tease me.
Y-You like m-me, and you like muscles.
I am learning that these two things are not linked together, but you enjoy when they are. You have more experience when it comes to relationships than I do, but that just makes sense.
You’re older than me.
But like, I don’t know any of your hobbies, what you like to do for fun when the world isn’t falling apart around us.
You’re other likes and dislikes.
I don’t even know how to begin to help you beyond guiding.” Kellen sighed, dropping his gaze.
“And that’s all I’m good for.” The Captain sighed. “You were doing so well until the last line.” He muttered, shaking his head.
He tilted Kellen’s head up, forcing him to meet his gaze.
“Mr.
Woods, your existence in my life without you trying to run away is honestly enough for me.
Now, if you actually cared for me in a romantic way, that would send me over the mood.
I know you don’t always enjoy when I tease you in public, but it makes me happy to see you moving around my Guild, interacting with my people.
Granted, I am not pleased with the current way you have interacted with my people, but I don’t think you’re the one solely at fault for that.” Kellen paled. Oh fuck, he was angry. “So you are angry about that.
I had a feeling that you were.” Kellen dropped his head, ashamed.
He wasn’t upset for what he had done, since Kellen would gladly do it again.
No, what had made him feel ashamed was that he had done it inside of the Captain’s Guild, and he hated causing problems for others.
That’s why he even brought up the press conference. “Mr.
Woods, I am not angry because of what you’ve done, nor am I even upset that you got caught.
I am upset you had to do it all in the first place.
This shouldn’t have even been an issue.
I have worked so hard to make the Guild a safe place.
I thought that I had made it unbreakable, that it had a strong foundation.
To find that 20 or so Guides could fuck everything up over 2 measly months?
I’m livid, but not at you.
I didn’t want you to get involved because this is my problem.” Kellen, who had been processing that it had only been two months, jerked his head up when the Captain finished speaking and glared at him. “It isn’t just your problem anymore!
We’re a pair.
This Guild is now just as important to me as it is to you!” The Captain’s eyes were wide at Kellen’s sudden outburst.
“This is what I was talking about.
This is your baby, Captain.
You’ve worked hard to make this Guild everything that it is, and I’m proud of you for that.” Kellen exhaled, trying to calm himself down.
“I wasn’t just angry at the Guides for what they had done as Guides.
I was angry because they had hurt something you had worked so hard on.” A blinding smile crossed the Captain’s face, and Kellen’s next words died in his throat. “Sometimes, Kellen, I wonder why you’re so fucking dense, but then I get moments like this and I am reminded why I love you all over again.” His heart began to thump away in his chest at the Captain’s casual way of speaking.
L-Love?
The Captain moved closer to Kellen, and Kellen felt his hand on his lower back, pressing him forward. “C-Captain?” Kellen didn’t know what he was asking, but he could feel the Captain’s chuckle against his lips before he kissed him.
It was a slow, delicious kiss, causing Kellen’s toes to curl in his slippers as his tongue played lazily with Kellen’s.
The Captain pulled Kellen against him slowly, backing them up against the edge of the kitchen counter.
Kellen wasn’t even aware of the Captain spinning him until his hips hit the edge of the counter.
Kellen felt their chests rubbing against each other, and the feel of the Captain’s buttons rubbing against his plain t-shirt felt wrong.
Kellen wrapped his arms around his neck, pulling him in closer, hoping he would kiss Kellen the way he liked, but he didn’t.
The Captain kept the kisses slow, and Kellen wasn’t sure when, but he had begun to guide the Captain at some point.
He only realised it when his head began to feel fuzzy and his knees went weak.
His head began to lull like the time he had been kissing the Captain the first time, and he pulled away first.
He had to use the hold he had on the Captain’s neck to keep himself upright.
The Captain trailed kisses down his neck and Kellen sighed, feeling his head lull back to give him more access.
The Captain chuckled. “While I do like how my kisses make you go boneless, I would also like you to save your guiding.
I know you suggested working on higher level guiding, but I think I would rather keep the guiding to our monitored sessions with Green.” The Captain brought his lips to Kellen’s ear, and his breath fanning over the tender, slightly wet skin there made Kellen shiver.
“We have to save up your energy for the main event, don’t we?” Kellen felt his heart jerk as it began to pick up speed at the Captain’s soft spoken words.
He ran his tongue down Kellen’s exposed neck, and Kellen felt his body jerk.
The contrast between the hot tongue, and the cold air made Kellen’s body shake. “W-We should eat before it gets cold.” Kellen protested weakly, not even sounding convincing to his own ears.
The Captain’s grin as he looked into Kellen’s face held a hint of mischief. “I can just turn back time on the food Kellen.
Why don’t you forget about useless things, and focus solely on me?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS CalyB Sweet, sweet, dumb Kellen.
