Chapter 308: I will comfort you, and that’s a threat Chapter 308: I will comfort you, and that’s a threat It was surprising how quickly the remainders cleaned up.
Blake, Hill, Taylor and Pamela stepped up to help make sure the kitchen was cleaned up.
Rhys also helped, using his powers so that the others didn’t have to. Kellen’s Mom was greatly impressed that he could reverse time on household objects, and Rhys glowed under the small praise.
Kellen wondered if it was because someone older who he respected was doing it.
Then he wondered if he had ever praised him. Hadn’t he?
Kellen was pretty sure that he’d told Rhys that he found his powers cool.
Hadn’t he?
He was sure he had.
They were useful and cool. Kellen came to the realization that even if he had, he should do it more.
The man looked tickled pink that someone had praised him.
Huh.
Kellen had never considered it before, but Rhys had made him guess what kind of powers he’d had.
Rhys would probably really like it if he used specific examples of what he did with his powers that Kellen liked. He’d have to make a list. Either way, the others cleared out rather quickly, his parents and Taylor being the last ones to leave.
Hill and Pamela appeared to be going back to work, while Blake and Taylor were being forced to go home for the night once they walked Kellen’s parents back to the medical bay.
The windows hadn’t been replaced yet, and Rhys still needed to move a couple of his things from his place.
That, and Taylor hadn’t fully cleared him yet. It was clear that his Dad was doing great, so the days that he would remain in the medical bay were numbered. Taylor checked over Kellen a few more times as she was being ushered out of the apartment.
Her eyes didn’t remain blue in the slightest, even with Kellen and his Dad threatening her.
Kellen had to shove her out of the house, cane in hand, while Rhys was shoving a bag of cookies into her hands and Kellen’s Mom was tugging her from behind.
Kellen’s Dad was getting help from Blake to support him, both of them shaking their heads while Taylor kept working. It was cute, but to a point.
Kellen really needed to make sure Casper knew that the medical team was getting preferential treatment when the new Guides came in.
They really needed it. Finally, the house was clean, the house was empty, and Kellen almost felt like the house was too quiet now that everyone was gone.
He stood in front of the apartment door, his cane in his hand, and his slippers on his feet.
Rhys was just behind him, his body heat radiating towards him. Neither of them moved.
Neither to lock the door, or anything else.
The silence was loud, and Kellen felt his ears ring. Eventually, Kellen exhaled, before he reached up and locked the front door and turned to face Rhys.
Rhys had been watching him, and Kellen realised it was with the softest, warmest expression possible once he turned.
Kellen swallowed, staring up as Rhys raised his hand, cupping Kellen’s face. His hands were warm, his gaze soft and almost gold.
Kellen closed his eyes when Rhys moved his face closer, but he froze when he felt Rhys’ lips on his forehead. “Are you doing okay?” Rhys asked softly, and Kellen opened his eyes to meet Rhys’ gaze.
Kellen clutched onto his cane, before he felt himself reach for him with his free hand.
He gripped onto Rhys’ shirt, stretching the fabric.

Rhys glanced down, before he met Kellen’s gaze again, a smile on his lips.
Kellen licked his own, and watched as Rhys observed every little movement he made. “Are you doing okay?” Kellen asked back, his own eyes roaming Rhys’ behaviour and body.
Rhys smiled down at him, his thumb rubbing against Kellen’s skin. “Oh Babe.
I’m doing perfect.
But are you doing okay?” He repeated and Kellen swallowed. “I…I don’t know.
I feel…a lot.
I’m feeling a lot.
I want to make sure you’re doing okay.
I think I need that.” Kellen told him, his voice quiet.
Rhys sighed. “Oh Babe.
I’m doing much better since I’ve been able to touch you, see you, and make sure you’re okay.
The longer I’ve been around you today, the better I’ve been.
I was worried you were going to push yourself too far today.
You did, of course, but I was there for you.” Rhys told him.
He leaned in, pressing his forehead against Kellen’s forehead.
“I was there for you when you needed me today.” Kellen felt his heart ache. “Rhys, I’m not upset that you weren’t there today.
I don’t blame you.” Kellen told him and Rhys let out a self-deprecating laugh. “You might not, but I do.
I was so worried about you being in danger I wandered away from your side, thinking I was protecting you.
Little did I know that the danger was very close by.
This is why I hate my powers sometimes.
I can’t always see what’s going to hurt the people closest to me.” Kellen removed his hand from his shirt to reach up and grab onto Rhys’ neck.
He gave it a squeeze, keeping their foreheads touching. “Rhys, it’s okay.
You were still there.
I did what I did because I knew you were nearby to protect me if I needed it.
I didn’t need it then.
I was okay.
But now, I need you.” Kellen hesitated.
He’d never been like this before, and he felt a little shy.
“I need you to hold me.
I need to know you’re okay.
I need to feel you around me.” Kellen told him.
Rhys shuddered. “Oh Kellen, you never have to ask, but I do like hearing you say that you need me.” Kellen swallowed. “Can you…show me what you were saying we could do earlier?
I want to cuddle with you, but I also want to spend time with you being intimate.
I need to know you’re okay too.” Kellen stared into Rhys’ eyes, watching as his gaze shifted more towards gold.
“You still want to do that?” He confirmed and Kellen nodded. “I do.
I want to spend time with you.
Can you carry me?” Kellen asked and found himself swept off his feet and Rhys quickly began climbing the stairs.
Kellen started laughing.
“You’re fast.” He told him and Rhys glanced at him.
He winked. “Always for you, Kellen, but I can get back to work real quick.” Kellen rolled his eyes at Rhys’ cheesy response.
Rhys made great time to the top of the stairs and threw open the door.
Kellen briefly thought that he was going to have to get some kind of a doorstop so that they didn’t damage the walls, but it was quickly forgotten when Rhys marched towards the bed. Gulping, Kellen wasn’t expecting the gentle way that Rhys laid him down on the bed, taking the cane from Kellen’s hands as he laid him out.
Rhys turned, noticing Kellen’s stunned expression with a smile as he put the cane against the side furthest from the night table, against the wall.
Just far enough out of Kellen’s reach that he’d have to ask for help to get it if he wanted it. Rhys smiled, putting his hands on his hips, his eyes golden as he scanned Kellen.
Kellen watched as the smile faded from his face, his expression growing somber. “Can I undress you?” Rhys asked carefully and Kellen nodded.
Rhys normally undressed him when they got into situations like this, so this wasn’t anything new. “Of course.” Kellen told him and Rhys exhaled. “Okay.
Okay, I can do that.” Rhys repeated to himself, and Kellen didn’t understand why he was reacting that way.
They’d jerked each other off not too long ago.
This shouldn’t be any different. Rhys, carefully, reached for Kellen and began to tug his shirt up and over his head.
Rhys paused when Kellen’s shirt was over his head, but not out of his arms.
Kellen was therefore left with his face covered, his arms immobilized, and Rhys was staring at his chest. “Rhys?” Kellen asked questioningly, unsure what he was up to.
Rhys didn’t respond to him, and Kellen flinched when he felt his hand touch his chest.
Rhys jerked back, clearly worried that he’d hurt him, and Kellen realised what exactly was going on.
“You helped me get changed.” Kellen said carefully, wondering where this was suddenly coming from. “I avoided looking then.” Rhys murmured.
“Did it hurt when I touched you?” He asked and Kellen sighed. “No.
I was just shocked.
I can’t really see you.” Kellen told him, taking in the way that Rhys’ voice was shaking, and he sounded so scared.
Kellen was a little frustrated that he couldn’t see his face, especially with his arms like this, but he would have to manage for the moment.
“Rhys.
I’m fine now.” Kellen told him and Rhys let out a shaky exhale. “It doesn’t look fine, Kellen.
You look hurt.” Rhys sounded like he was crying.
Kellen, done with having his face covered, pulled himself up into a sitting position and yanked his shirt over his head.
He was not about to have him hurting like this when he was, genuinely, fine.
At least when it came to this wound.
It would heal over time.
