(BL) Hunting The Field Guide - Chapter 317
Chapter 317: I’m at max power Chapter 317: I’m at max power Kellen was rushing towards the Medical Bay.
As fast as his injured leg would take him.
He had to wait while he stood in the elevator, a few of the other members of the Guild giving him strange looks as he tried to catch his breath.
Then as soon as the doors opened he was moving again, pushing his body as he moved. When he got to his Dad’s room, he didn’t knock, not really caring what he walked in on. Thankfully, it was nothing that was scar him.
Taylor was grinning as she looked over at him.
His Dad was on the side of the bed, buttoning up his shirt and his Mom had tears in her eyes.
Charlie and Gwen were also there, and Gwen was also crying. “He’s okay?” Kellen asked, breathless.
He’d rushed over as soon as Taylor had messaged him that she had been fully guided.
He knew what that meant, since she knew that Kellen wouldn’t accept anything until his Dad was fine. “I’m fine my sweet boy.
Fully healed.
Now, it’s your turn.” His Dad warned, a smile on his lips.
Kellen shook his head, not even caring about that.
He was just happy that his Dad was fully healed.
It was such a relief to not have to worry about him in this way, and Kellen pressed himself against the wall next to the door, needing it to keep him upright.
It had been exhausting trying to keep his feelings regulated so that it didn’t affect anyone else.
Now, he could take a break. His parents were going to be fine. “Rhys was saying something about fixing the windows?” His Mom asked and Kellen nodded.
He was still trying to catch his breath. “Yeah.
He didn’t think that they were strong enough.
I’ll message him and ask about the apartment that-” “Your Father,” his Mom interrupted Kellen, “told me that we shouldn’t move in next door to our newly paired son, even if his partner’s home is fully kitted out with the best security system.
So, I will message Rhys and I will let him know our new plans.” Kellen jerked his gaze towards his Mom. She wasn’t nervous, she wasn’t upset, so it was clear his Dad hadn’t suggested anything that would jeopardize his safety.
Kellen instantly felt a twinge in his chest for even thinking that.
They had managed to keep him, his sister, and themselves safe up until this point.
They were more than capable of taking care of themselves.
He should trust them. They weren’t his students. “You have his number?” Kellen asked and his Mom chuckled. “Did you think I wouldn’t?
I got it from him the first time we had dinner together.
As your Mother, I have to move fast.” She winked as Taylor finished writing down in his Dad’s chart, his Dad finished buttoning up his shirt and she moved to give his throat one last check. With a smile, she turned to Kellen. “It’s your turn, Kellen.
Get on the bed.” Kellen gulped.
He had anticipated this reaction slightly, but he didn’t think she would be this quick about it. Leaning heavily on his cane, Kellen moved closer to the bed.
His Dad and Taylor helped him up onto the higher hospital bed, the pain manageable but Taylor was still frowning.
Kellen wet his lips, wiping his hands on his pants when his Dad took his cane away from him. “I am fine waiting some more.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
I don’t want you to use up all of the power you had just gotten.” Kellen told her.
Now close enough to see her face in detail, he was glad to see that she looked better.
Waaaay better. The colour was back in her face, her expression was brighter.
She looked as if she had gotten a good night’s sleep even though he knew that wasn’t true.
Her hair looked shinier, her lips didn’t look as cracked.
It was amazing what being fully guided could do to an Esper. “If you ever suggest that shit again, I’m telling.” She threatened and Kellen frowned. “That breaks a lot of laws as a doctor.” He protested as her eyes began to glow green.
She smirked. “Good thing I never finished school then, hmm?” Gwen was laughing as Taylor moved Kellen around like a doll until he was flat on his back, his pants and shirt were off and she had her back to the door. A soft knock sounded on the door before a breathless Rhys entered the room. “I heard that Kellen’s Dad was healed.
How is-Green?” Rhys asked carefully, and since she was in the middle of something, she couldn’t turn.
Kellen’s Mom stepped in as soon as she felt a dip in the temperature of the room.
Kellen couldn’t speak because he had been surprised by the pain the wound was causing him. “Kellen’s getting healed, Rhys.
Come over here and you can see it properly.” Kellen turned his head towards the direction Rhys was supposed to appear and held out his hand as soon as he made eye contact. Nothing could have stopped Rhys from getting to his hand. “What the hell did you do yesterday?” Taylor accused, her face tight as she continued to work on Kellen’s thigh alone.
Rhys went white while Kellen sighed. “It shouldn’t have been too strenuous.
I just laid there.” Kellen told her and his Mom started coughing.
Rhys, who had gone white, went red while Gwen’s laughter covered up her Mom’s coughing.
Taylor frowned. “Hmm.
Then this must have been something I missed in the days after.
Shit.
There is still a piece of bullet in there.
This shouldn’t be hurting you, but I can tell it is causing you pain.
Shit.
We can halt and I can get you something for it, or I can continue.
Do not be the bigger person here, and be honest.” Taylor warned, her eyes the eerie green glow of her powers. “I’m fine.” Kellen told her and Rhys squeezed his hand.
Kellen glanced over at him and the soft, worried way he was looking at Kellen felt like a punch to the gut. “Please don’t hurt yourself unnecessarily if there is another option.
It won’t cause you any more harm to wait a few minutes to let medication help you.” Rhys was practically begging him and Kellen winced. “It’s not that bad.” Kellen said, and Rhys’ expression drooped. “So you are going to let yourself be in more pain?” He asked and Kellen felt a little hopeless.
This was what he was used to.
Why was Rhys being like this?
Rhys sighed dramatically, before he bent, his lips brushing against Kellen’s ear as he spoke quietly, softly, but his words hit home.
“I am sorry that I haven’t been able to satisfy your desire, Kellen, but this isn’t the way to get satisfaction.” Kellen gasped, pushing Rhys’ face away with his free hand awkwardly, while Taylor, who had been nearby, snorted, closing her eyes as her shoulders began to shake. “Rhys Thatcher!” Kellen practically shrieked, and he gave him an innocent, yellow-eyed look.
His parents were smirking, and Kellen just begged that they hadn’t been able to hear it.
It wasn’t so much about the embarrassment.
It was fully about how he didn’t want to have to explain himself. “Captain, that was a bit much.” Taylor said.
She hesitated before she spoke again, her expression light.
“I can just use a numbing agent.
That should, uh, help.” Kellen released Rhys’ hand, using both to cover his face. “You aren’t allowed in here anymore.” Kellen told him and Rhys laughed, leaning in and pressing his face against Kellen’s hands. “Awe, don’t be mad.
I just don’t want you to suffer needlessly.
Are you going to let Taylor give you some meds?
The longer you drag this out, the longer it will take.” Rhys told him and Kellen was so mad at him.
He was doing this so intentionally, because whatever Kellen chose, he was damned in at least Taylor’s mind. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep my mouth shut.” Taylor spoke as if she could read his mind.
Kellen groaned again. “Do we have to do our guiding session today?” Kellen asked and Rhys gasped. “You are that mad at me?
Oh come on, Kellen.
I’m sorry.
I was just teasing.” Rhys told him and Kellen couldn’t exactly explain why he was so angry.
He was still in the middle of research, and he didn’t want to…spoil the surprise. He and Brent had skipped lunch to continue going through the shops and websites so that Kellen could get a better understanding of what tools could help him.
Kellen, because he was thorough, had to imagine or project an image in his mind about how the tool would be used between them. Kellen was in a strange headspace.
It was the reason he hadn’t called Rhys to come with him when he first got the call from Taylor.
Clearly, it didn’t matter, since he was here, but Kellen was already feeling a little strange looking Rhys in the face. He was excited, and also weary about some of the things that Brent had suggested.
Some of them could cause him significant pain, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready to graduate to something like that.
They’d done some stuff, but Kellen wasn’t sure it was shoving something down his dickhole level of pain stuff. Even when he and Brent had watched a practical video about it, it was a lot.
Kellen’s cock had pulsed in pain solidarity.
Brent hadn’t looked too interested either.
So, having Rhys here, and bringing up the pain of the procedure and everything else, felt like too much. Sighing, Kellen turned his head away, looking away. “Do whatever you want.
I don’t care whether it hurts or not.
It’s not even that bad.” Kellen mumbled.
He wasn’t giving up, he just couldn’t let himself care about this too much.
That was what he was telling himself at least.
