Don’t you feel much better now that you’ve listened to me?” Kellen blinked, staring up at Rhys who wasn’t quite clear as he sat up.

He blinked a few more times, before slowly turning his head towards Taylor, who was wiping sweat off of her forehead.  The healing had gone without a hitch, but it was clear that something was a little off.

It had taken Taylor a little longer because of the bullet piece that was still lodged in his thigh, and honestly, that was the main reason why she had wanted to give him drugs in the first place.

She didn’t want to have to worry about accidentally hurting him more while she was poking around inside of him with her powers.

With all that being said… “How much did you give me?” Kellen slurred, and Taylor froze, before she started laughing.  “I must have given you a bit too much.

It should fade shortly though.

I gave you the amount that normal A Class Guides ask for.

Sorry.” Kellen blinked again, staring around the room with wide eyes and Rhys covered his mouth.

Kellen was trying to swallow, but his mouth felt a little funny.

Like a little baby waking up from a nap.” Rhys said and Kellen turned his gaze towards him.

He narrowed it slowly and Rhys gasped, his eyes creasing at the corners as he smiled.

Your parents are in the room and I have a lot of work I still need to get done today.” Kellen frowned, his fingers clutching onto the bedsheets below him as he wobbled from side to side slightly.

God, was the room spinning, or was it him?  “I am just glaring at you.” Kellen mumbled, his lips feeling a little strange.

“H-How long does this last?” Kellen asked, trying to move his lips but he found that it was difficult.

Taylor cleared her throat, coming over to check Kellen out.

She shone a light into his eyes, watching his reaction time and sighed.  “Well, it might last till the end of the day.

I should have considered that you would have a different reaction.” Kellen shook his head slowly, the movement making him sway more.  “It’s…fine.

I’m still newly an A Class.

We’ll figure things out like this slowly.

“Brent’s all alone.” Rhys was shaking, his whole body trembling as he tried to restrain himself.  “We can take you.” Kellen’s Dad spoke up.

“Now that we are no longer confined to the Medical Bay, as long as you give us directions, we can take you there.

We can also keep an eye on you and let either Rhys or Taylor know if something strange happens.

That way, all the busy people can do their busy things, and we won’t feel stupid just standing around.” His Dad was smiling, but that only made Kellen frown more.

Rhys let out a muffled sound, but Kellen didn’t look up at him.  His Mom was covering her mouth, her blue eyes dancing as she looked over her son, and his Dad wasn’t much better.

Gwen shifted over, moving from where she had been near Charlie to come into Kellen’s line of sight.

She was smirking.  “You keep swaying, and you look a little cross-eyed.

Are you sure you should be even considering going to work?

How about one of us takes you up to your apartment and you can lie down or something?” Kellen frowned further, and her eyes began to dance.  “I am not going to lie down.

I am tired, but not that tired.

I have lots of things that I need to do today.” Kellen muttered.

“The day is only half done.” Kellen flushed.

Rhys, unable to hold it in anymore, sighed and wrapped his arms around his pair.  “You are too cute.

Taylor, let’s make a note that Kellen only needs a lower dose now, hmm?

I don’t like the idea of other people seeing him like this.” Rhys muttered and Kellen instinctively wrapped his arms around him, hugging him back.  “Why are you hugging me?

And I don’t really like being called cute.” Kellen protested lightly, clearly not really that upset that Rhys was touching him.

Rhys gave him a squeeze.  “Stop it.

Of course I’m going to hug you whenever I want.

Er, uh, as long as you consent.” Gwen snorted behind Rhys, and Kellen’s Mom started laughing.  “Nice save.” Taylor muttered and Kellen gave him a squeeze.  “You better not forget that.

Enough of that embarrassing me because you can shit.” Kellen warned and Rhys shuddered.  “I don’t know if I can do that now that we’re officially dating.

Especially around others who have shown interest in you.” Rhys confessed, not at all concerned that so many others were in the room with them.

Kellen, despite the situation he found himself, couldn’t exactly disagree with him.  He thought back to the times that other Guides had been brought for Rhys, with full disregard that Kellen existed.

He couldn’t exactly say he reacted in a level-headed way.  “Mmm, I’ll let some things go, but not everything.

No behaving like a damn animal marking your territory unless they do it first.

And then I’ll make sure that they know I am not available.” Kellen told him and Rhys gasped, pulling back so quickly that Kellen nearly fell.

He shouldn’t have worried too much, as Rhys held onto his shoulders tightly.  “You’ll do it?” He asked and Kellen nodded.  “Of course.

I’m worried you’re going to take it too far, so I should be the one to make it clear to others I am not available.

Especially if they are idiots and don’t know who you or I are.

I imagine it will happen more in the future when you have to travel for work.” Rhys seemed shocked.

“You’ll come with me?” He asked and Kellen furrowed his brows.  “Were you planning to go alone?” He asked and Rhys shook his head, his face pink.  “No, I just…I didn’t realise that you would come with me.

I just thought I would go alone and finish everything up really quickly and then come back home.” He said and Kellen’s Mom laughed behind them.  “Rhys, you should know Kellen better by now.

He’s watched us disappear together for years.

He knows that pairs go together, I just wasn’t aware you didn’t know that.” Rhys swallowed, his expression still shocked before a soft, warm smile touched his lips and Kellen felt his breath catch as Rhys stared at him.

Rhys was looking at him like he was everything he’d ever wanted, and Kellen didn’t know how to handle that.  “I guess I just haven’t had a partner like that for so long that I didn’t even consider it.

Wow.

I get to travel the world with you once this gate is handled.

I get to show you all of my favourite places.” He whispered and Kellen’s heart began to pound in his chest.

Rhys had said that Kellen was cute before, but Kellen would like to argue that it was actually Rhys who was beyond adorable right now.  Kellen was having to fight his instincts to kiss him, especially because he knew that Gwen wouldn’t let him live it down.

Nor would Taylor.  “Uh, w-we should get going.

You know, busy and everything.” Kellen muttered, his face flushed and Rhys blinked several times before he relaxed, leaning in and planting a kiss on Kellen’s cheek.  “You’re just right, Babe.

I’ll stay with you guys in the elevator until you need to get off at the obstacle course.

Is that where Brent is with the students?” He asked and Kellen took a deep breath in, able to finally speak now that they had passed the moment.

He still felt unstable, but at least he had some control over his emotions.  Wait.  He was fully healed now.  Kellen could…Kellen could do whatever he wanted now.

He didn’t have to adjust, or worry about hurting himself anymore.

Kellen could…Kellen could surprise Rhys now.  Kellen felt his cheeks warm and he nodded as Rhys took a step back and offered him a hand.

Gulping, Kellen tried to get off of the hospital bed, and was just grateful that his legs held all of his weight.

It was quite dangerous though, and he was thankful that Rhys was beside him.  “Let us take over, Rhys.

That way you don’t have to switch with us when we take Kellen to his class.

Don’t worry, he’ll be all yours after work today.

We aren’t going to be so rude as to think we should celebrate together.” Kellen’s Mom told Rhys with a wink.

Rhys’ face flushed.  “Oh, I mean, I was going to offer to get take out, but if you don’t want to…” Rhys trailed off and Kellen’s Dad laughed.  “Rhys, you two are newly paired, and newly dating.

We are not going to impose so often on you two.

We remember what we were like when we first started out.” His Dad looked at his Mom, a knowing smile on his face.

Kellen and Gwen looked away, gagging.

As much as Kellen was open to relationships and everything else, he still did not want to know what his parents got up to.  He didn’t care if that made him seem immature.

He knew how babies were made.

As far as he was concerned, he was brought in by a stork like kids were told when they were younger.
