Chapter 331: An explosive meeting part 1 Chapter 331: An explosive meeting part 1 A week had passed.
Kellen had watched everything, working away, as Brent and Casper worked away as the other two A Class Guides in the Guild.
Everything seemed to…settle. They hadn’t had any other incidents from the terrorists, but that didn’t mean that anyone had relaxed.
His parents had settled into a new apartment, a few floors below Kellen and Rhys, but a few floors above Brent.
They seemed to be happy, and once settled in, his Father had invited everyone over for dinner. Neither Casper, nor Gunther showed up, and that alone told everyone what the tension in the Guild truly was. Gunther was not doing well.
Kellen was sure he wasn’t getting guidance, and that was affecting everyone.
He had apparently already been unstable, but things were now taking a turn towards the worst it could possibly be.
Rhys had to finally step in, and Kellen hadn’t been there for the conversation that those two had, but it had not been good. Half of the upper offices were destroyed, and thankfully Rhys had predicted that. He made sure that the floor had been clear prior to them going to have their ‘talk’. Casper, meanwhile, had been kept in the dark of this talk.
In fact, Kellen had even brought him to one of the secured training rooms, under the guise of asking for a demonstration from some of the other A Class Espers, and the newer Field Guides.
Kellen had wanted Casper there, of course, as the head of the Guiding Division.
As much as Kellen wasn’t a part of it, the Guides were, and it was important for them to see that Casper was aware of what they were doing, and how they were training and changing. The Field Guides were showing off their new weapon skills, and the A Class Espers were attempting to use their powers wildly, so that the Field Guides could ‘get hands on’ experience.
It was an interesting display, suggested by Brent, and seemed to work. Casper had been impressed, and when things got a little rougher, and the building shook, he thought nothing of it.
That day had been successful, and Casper had gone on, none the wiser that Rhys had literally beaten Gunther within an inch of his life. Kellen hadn’t known until Rhys called him to the Medical Bay, along with Hill, Miro and Pamela. Miro hadn’t been left out of the loop on everything, but between his work with all of the scientists from all Guilds, moving between the front lines and the Guild, he had been a busy boy.
He’d barely been back at the Guild since the Gate issue had started, and whenever he was back, it was for medical treatment, checking on his plants, and that was it.
His plants were in high demand, and given Gunther’s injuries, they were going to be in high demand again. He even brought a plant known for speeding up recovery and placed it in the room that Taylor was working on him. None of the Lieutenants were unaware of what was going on.
Pamela in particular, who was quite close to Casper in a way that Kellen hadn’t even been aware of, was particularly concerned. “This is going to blow up in our faces if we don’t handle this soon.” She warned, as if she was the one who had the power to see the future.
Rhys, several bruises forming on his own body, along with scratches, and his uniform torn to shreds, stared down at his still body of his friend.
Rhys looked like he’d fought several monsters, and not his oldest friend. It was clear that Gunther had gone down swinging, and Kellen had always known that he was a formidable opponent.
There was a reason he sparred with Rhys the most. “I fear that we are well and truly past that point, Pamela.
Everything I see past this point is explosive, but what could we do?
We have so much on our plate, that dealing with this had to be put on the backburner.
Gunther was the one who did this first, and now we all must clean this up.” Hill sighed, her face oddly serious. “Are Gunther and Casper going to leave the Guild?” Miro asked the question that everyone was worried about.
Rhys’ expression was tense, and Kellen, unsure what to do, reached out and pressed his hand against his shoulder.
Rhys didn’t shrug off his touch, so Kellen remained beside him, everyone staring down at the man who Taylor was covering with her healing powers.
The subtle green released from her hands filled the room, and the silence remained until Rhys broke it. “I…don’t know.
I never thought that something like this would happen.
I didn’t foresee it in the slightest.
Of course, I do not want either of them to leave, but with how things are going…” Rhys exhaled slowly, and Kellen glanced around at the faces around him. Everyone seemed upset.
He could understand why.
He had worked with them a lot when they were on the front lines, but these people had been with each other a lot longer.

Even Miro, who was the most recent member to the team before Kellen, seemed upset. “I don’t want that.” He muttered quietly.
“Is there anything I can do?” Miro asked, and Hill sighed, reaching out and pulling him closer to her.
He was taller than her, but that didn’t seem to matter as she pulled his head against her shoulder. “No.
I’m afraid not, Miro.
This is…pretty much between Casper and Gunther, and from my knowledge, Casper wants out.
He’s done a lot.
He’s done enough.
If Gunther doesn’t…pull his head out of his ass, we might lose him forever.” Kellen agreed with Hill, and so did Pamela. “Fuck.
I never thought it would get to this level.
I felt things were coming to a head, but I didn’t anticipate things going this direction.
Gunther, you damn idiot.” Pamela scolded the unconscious man.
Rhys chuckled. “Should we have someone guide him while he’s unconscious?” He asked carefully.
It wasn’t exactly…illegal, but it was frowned upon.
Kellen sighed, before he set his face. “I’ll do it.
That way he can’t complain unless he wants to be shot.” Kellen said and Hill snorted. “After fighting and destroying a whole floor on the Guild, he should be worried that that’s all he’ll get in punishment.” Hill muttered, and Rhys sighed. “I’ve already repaired it, Hill, so there is no need to rub it in his face.
My worry now is…he’s going to go after Casper.” Kellen glanced at him, while Pamela’s eyes grew concerned. “What do you mean?
Is he going to hurt him or something?” She demanded, clearly worried for Casper and Rhys shook his head.
His expression was complicated. “I…I don’t think so.
I want to believe in the man that I know, but this is hard.
I don’t think that Gunther would hurt Casper, and certainly not in public, but…fuck.
Our childhood wasn’t…great.” Rhys muttered and the lieutenants stared at their Captain.
Kellen knew it wasn’t his place to say anything, and just kept his hand on Rhys’ shoulder as he watched them speak. “Rhys…we have to accept that the Gunther we might know might not be the same man that Casper knows.” Rhys looked like he was in great pain.
He closed his eyes at Hill’s words, and inhaled.
It was a long, long moment before he exhaled and nodded. “Fuck.
I know.
I know you’re right.
Even fighting with him today felt different.
Kellen, guide him, and then schedule that therapy session you discussed.
We’ll need an end date, or else I’m going to keep putting this off.” Rhys admitted and Kellen nodded. “I can do that.” He said softly, comforting his pair and Rhys sighed.
He looked towards the others, his expression complicated. “How is Casper?
Did he think anything was off?” Rhys asked and Kellen shook his head.
Pamela spoke up. “No.
He is grateful that everyone is helping him and making sure that Gunther doesn’t see him.
He’s…I think he’s intentionally keeping his eyes closed.” Kellen didn’t blame him.
This was a tough situation.
It was probably going to explode too.
“He’s not going to be there for the conversation, is he?” Hill asked and Kellen shook his head. “No.
He’s not.
It would only upset both of them.
I plan to let him know when we’re having that conversation, but I am not telling him the location, or time.
Just what day.” Pamela and Hill shared a look, before relief crossed their features. “Oh good.
I was worried for nothing then.” Pamela exhaled slowly.
She glanced at Gunther, her expression full of sorrow.
“I have some work still to do.
Some of the Guilds that are international keep reaching out to us, and I have to verify they are who they say they are.” Pamela departed and Miro followed after her. It was just Hill, Kellen, Rhys and Taylor left.
The silence was deafening.
