Chapter 375: The first day without everyone
Kellen had to cover his mouth as a yawn took over. He raised his hand from where he had them crossed across his chest, watching indifferently as his students went about their tasks. His actions did surprise a few who were waiting their turns. Kellen wasn’t normally one to show how tired he was. He was normally one who didn’t yawn, or at the very least, didn’t make it obvious. In this case, it wasn’t possible.
Kellen was tired. He knew why, and he was doing his best to not let it show that he was absolutely exhausted.
Kellen had joked about it, but Rhys really hadn’t let him sleep last night. Rhys hadn’t don’t it maliciously, but he had pushed Kellen to the brink, over and over. Kellen should have known better, knowing who Rhys was, and especially after he had volunteered to show Rhys what he used to do in the closet.
Kellen had even noticed it during. He had watched as Rhys’ expression had shifted, and something harder, something…more had entered his expression, his actions, after Kellen had let those words slip from his lips while they were kissing. It was like a switch had been flipped in Rhys and after that, Kellen had been kissed, sucked, bitten, slapped and…and pounded with that blue dildo.
Kellen knew that if he hadn’t wanted it, Rhys would have backed off. But Kellen had abstained for a little too long for his own good, and he himself got lost in the feelings, the touch of Rhys’ skin against his own. Rhys would whisper a suggestion against his skin, his ear, and Kellen would cave. He was the kind of guy who would try nearly everything at least once, with some boundaries.
That meant that Kellen had allowed Rhys to fuck him with the dildo, and several other things too. It also meant that Kellen’s ass was sore in several ways. He ached in ways he hadn’t ever felt before, and the silky, slightly rough texture of his uniform against his skin felt a little too sensitive.
Kellen and Rhys hadn’t gotten up to too much, mostly just enjoying each others’ company, but…Rhys had brought up spanking with a toy inside of Kellen and Kellen’s mind had been too pleasure-muddled to say no.
Not that he hadn’t enjoyed it. The vibrator hitting his prostate while Rhys’ hand made contact with his ass cheeks? Kellen was a little embarrassed to admit how much he had liked that. Even in the moment. He just hoped that Rhys was able to tell how much he liked that by context clues so that he wouldn’t have to say it with his own mouth.
Rhys didn’t get off Scott free either. Kellen had pushed him down at one point and kissed and bit his way across his body. Kellen had a few favourite parts he liked to bite. The meaty part of Rhys’ pecs was a favourite. Rhys groaned, the sound coming out of his mouth feeling like a prayer. Kellen liked that. It was a heady feeling, that kind of power, especially when Kellen knew that Rhys really liked his own pecs.
Kellen had also liked watching Rhys’ chest rise and fall, over and over, and sometimes halt at whatever action Kellen had done. When Kellen had taken his cock into his mouth? Rhys all but stopped breathing entirely.
Kellen shifted on his feet, watching over the first class of the day on his own. Despite the current state of his body, and his lack of sleep two days in a row, Kellen felt relatively okay. In his mind there were more pressing things to worry about. Like if his class was ready to join Brent one week from now, and if the afternoon class would be able to join him in two weeks.
One thing for sure, it had felt a little strange to come out in his Field Guide uniform. He had worn it yesterday, since it had been his day but he planned to continue to wear it as long as Brent wasn’t here to rotate with him. To show the students what they were training for, and to show solidarity with his comrade who was on the front lines.
He tried not to miss the sound of Brent’s voice, or think about what Brent would be doing if he was here. Even the thought of Brent’s silly comments, or huffing and puffing about doing anything teacher related was missed. It was only the first day. He couldn’t let on how much he missed the other man.
He shouldn’t show how much he was missing his friend while teaching his students. He wasn’t sure if it would be a good example for them. He needed to be tough. Hard. Like a true Field Guide.
Even if his ass ached, his body felt bruised and battered in ways he only ever experienced with Rhys, and his mind felt a little foggy. Thankfully, they were doing mostly easy things for training today. Things that shouldn’t push the students too far.
Target practise. At the gun range.
Kellen was able to stand back, let the kids focus on their targets and spend time discussing their aim while he only had to answer a few questions. It was a good thing for him today, since he felt so reflective, and so damn tired.
He had discussed what he had planned to do after he sent them off, and Brent had suggested that with each interaction that went out, Kellen should do target practise the next day. Kellen doubted that Brent had suggested it because he knew what Kellen and Rhys would get up to, but he appreciated the thought at this moment.
Kellen was even considering taking a quick nap instead of eating lunch, that was how exhausted he was.
Kellen had, at first, worried that the students would have taken the lack of their fellow classmates around as a bad thing, especially since their duties were shifted to accommodate several Guides going to the front lines. He was worried that they would be jealous that they weren’t selected first, that they would get some silly thoughts in their head that Kellen and Brent hadn’t selected them because they weren’t worthy enough.
That wasn’t the case. Kellen and Brent hadn’t selected them at all. They had chosen who went through a draw. Kellen and Brent had to decide which class went first, and that was about it. That itself hadn’t been a hard choice either. The first class, the morning class, was more advanced.
Kellen’s new worry was that the afternoon class wouldn’t catch up to the same level that they needed to be, or even similar to where the morning class had been when Brent and Kellen had considered this. He didn’t doubt that they were doing well, but he had kind of thrust them into a trajectory where they needed to be good enough.
Worst case scenario? Brent came back for a week or so and then went back out with the first half of the second group. It wasn’t a big deal, but to Kellen, it felt like a big deal right now.
It was probably the lack of sleep, and the fact that Kellen hadn’t heard that his parents had arrived safely at their final destination yet. They were safely at their fourth location, but Kellen hadn’t heard anything since then.
That had been at 6 am, so about 4ish hours had passed since then. He was doing his best not to panic. Travel time took longer, Kellen knew this. He was just…worried. He was just always worried. He was okay to admit it now that everyone was traveling. Brent and the others had arrived. Captain Sergei had given him the update first, with Rhys nipping on his heels with a text letting him know the same thing.
It was nice to know that both were looking out for him. Rhys, of course, made a lot of sense. The man looked completely refreshed when he left the apartment this morning. Kellen was sure he didn’t match Rhys’ energy as they had walked side by side towards the elevator. Kellen hadn’t even gone to work out this morning.
Partially because Rhys had…distracted him with different methods of working out, and also because he felt strange going there when he didn’t know Brent was safe. Now that he did know, he’d probably go tomorrow. Only if he was able to get a good night’s sleep. Which hinged on the fact that his parents got to their final destination safely.
Sighing, Kellen watched his students, until finally, class was over. He didn’t need to do much for clean up, and no one had wanted to remain behind to chat so Kellen went directly to his office, locked the door after sending a message to Rhys that he was going to have a nap in his office, and then laid down on the couch.
He had seen everyone else do it, but Kellen never had. As he lay down, sinking into the softness of the couch, Kellen let out another, deep sigh.
Closing his eyes, he let his tiredness wash over him. He made sure to remember to set an alarm, also making sure it was for the pm, not the am, and crossed his arms, tucking his hands into his armpits as he felt sleep wash over him.
