- Chapter 76 - Chapter 76 Decorating the Captain way
Chapter 76: Decorating the Captain way Chapter 76: Decorating the Captain way The weekend passed in a blur. Kellen spent most of it with the Captain.
Something Kellen had always known, but had only witnessed from afar was that the Captain took care of those he considered his.
Kellen had never considered that he would be a part of that small group at any point in his life, so he never considered how thorough that care would be. On Saturday, when Kellen woke up, he was wrapped in the warm embrace of the Captain.
Instead of ruining the moment, or amplifying the sexual tension, the Captain instead covered Kellen in light kisses until the two were laughing, sleep long forgotten and joy filling the air.
Instead of letting Kellen cook, the Captain ordered breakfast for them from the cafeteria while they got dressed, made Kellen a cup of tea while they waited while he got himself a glass of orange juice, and when the food arrived, he sat Kellen down, cornered him really, and fed him breakfast by hand.
Kellen would have been mortified if the Captain hadn’t been so pleased with himself.
He hadn’t seen such a happy, open, and easy expression on his face, ever.
So, even though he was sure he was going to pop a blood vessel in his face, he held his tongue.
Even when a drop of syrup rolled down his chin and the Captain bent forward to lick it up.
Kellen had frozen, thinking that this was going to head in a particular direction, but the Captain had simply grinned at him and continued to feed him. Actually, Kellen was noticing that there were a lot of little touches, and slip ups that were making him more aware of the Captain.
Any time one of these situations would happen, Kellen would wince, fully expecting that something would happen, but when nothing did, or the Captain brushed it off with a laugh, Kellen would grow confused.
Kellen wasn’t sure if his body was conditioned to expect certain things, but it was driving him insane, and it only got worse as the day progressed. The two of them hadn’t actually gotten dressed to eat breakfast, and when the Captain suggested that they spend the day around town, you know, to show everyone that they were totally fine, and the terrorists didn’t get to them, Kellen agreed.
So, the Captain followed Kellen upstairs to his closet and watched over him as he selected a plain black t-shirt, and a pair of jeans to wear.
When the Captain asked if it was alright if he looked through Kellen’s clothing selection, he found that Kellen really, truly, had very little when it came to diversity for outfits and clothing.
Kellen, being the sweet boy that he was, had no idea what he had agreed to. When they left the tower in a different, but equally fast sports car about half an hour later, Kellen felt underdressed.
The Captain, always a man of style, wore a deep burgundy long sleeve shirt, with the sleeves rolled up his forearms, a nice pair of not quite black pants with faint pinstripes, a classy belt, a nice watch, and well matched shoes.
He looked like he had stepped out of a magazine shoot, and Kellen realised he might have.
The Captain was known worldwide because of his yellow eyes and his handsome look.
He often was photographed, which was why Kellen had two fucking boxes of magazine cut outs of him hidden in his closet.
He still hadn’t had time to hide them since the Captain had been with him all morning. Either way, Kellen felt kind of foolish next to him in his normal clothing, especially sitting in the fancy car, next to the Captain of the Saturn Guild.
He felt every inch the Freelance Field Guide that he was before this.
The Captain, for his part, was happily humming away, pleased as punch to have the Guide in his car, and in his life.
So happy that he wanted to treat him like the little prince he was.
So it was to Kellen’s shock that they pulled into a part of town Kellen had never gone to.
It was a district known for fancy boutiques, expensive handmade items, and the houses around this area soared into the millions.
Kellen was actually pretty sure one of the condos sold for almost half a billion a year prior.
The Captain pulled into an underground parking area, and Kellen was surprised since it was under a huge complex of expensive condos.
That was when he found out the Captain owned more property in town then he thought.
The Captain had not been joking when he had told Kellen to dream bigger than buying an apartment, if he was able to afford a condo in this area of town on his salary without having direct rights to a gate yet.
The security for the condos were almost reverent when they accepted the Captain’s keys for his car and told to keep it safe, while the Captain easily, and calmly, took Kellen’s hand in his and headed for the streets. It was like walking with a celebrity, but everyone kept their distance.

Kellen was in shock at all the cameras, while the Captain was as cool as a cucumber.
The Captain seemed well known in the area.
In fact, people were clamoring for him to come into their stores.
Kellen, to his shock, was also well known, but for different reasons.
There was a tension around the interactions others had with him, and he wasn’t sure why.
The Captain also didn’t seem inclined to tell him either. Walking down the street, Kellen was surprised by the wide range of shops, and was busy looking around when he felt the Captain tug at his hand.
Turning his head, he found the Captain motioning with his head that he wanted to go into a particular shop.
Kellen couldn’t tell what goods they sold from the outside, since unlike the stores beside it, they didn’t have a window display.
The Captain also had to press a buzzer to get in as well, and the doors were opened by a smartly dressed middle-aged woman, with kind eyes, but a slightly stern expression.
She let the two of them in, and Kellen found himself in a completely wooden paneled hallway.
It was like he had stepped into a completely different world. They were led to what Kellen assumed was a sitting room.
His grandmother had had one in her old home before she had needed to move in with the family, but they had never used it.
They were served refreshments, before everything took a turn.
For Kellen, at least. Kellen, who had been looking around in wonder, impressed but unsure why they were here, was shocked when several large books were rolled in and presented to the Captain.
Several ladies had entered the room to assist him, and then they whisked Kellen away to a different room, and Kellen paled.
He now knew why they were here. The Captain had brought him to a clothing store.
And it seems like Kellen was the dress up doll for the day.
From that point on, Kellen was a slightly pouty Guide, under great duress, with no one to save him.
The Captain was having a great time, especially since he got a little Kellen fashion show after each selection.
Kellen was picked, prodded, and poked until the Captain was appeased.
Kellen wanted to know what the Captain was doing, what he had selected, and how much it cost, but the Captain had simply smiled at him and called it a welcome to the Guild gift.
When Kellen had protested that they had thrown him two welcome parties, the Captain had said it was a pairing gift.
Kellen had narrowed his eyes at the man, his lips trembling, and Kellen had no idea how close the Captain had come to caving.
As they were leaving the store, Kellen voiced some very valid concerns regarding how his body frequently changed because of the muscle he put on, and how it would probably get bigger as time went on, and the Captain had simply shrugged.
The Captain thought it was adorable that Kellen thought this was going to be the first and last time that he would buy him clothes.
He had his measurements, the visit was just a formal thing.
He knew the designer liked to meet her clients in person first, before working with them for years after. Knowing he now had to make it up to the Guide, who had clearly not enjoyed the clothing shopping, he took Kellen around the shopping district on a personal tour.
There were several food stores, with products to help with the kitchen.
The Captain had little to no clue about it, but Kellen seemed pleased to stroll through them.
He even picked out some things he thought his Father would find interesting, and knew that he didn’t already have.
The Captain noticed that at every store they visited, Kellen would pick out things for everyone else, but never himself.
In fairness to Kellen, the Captain was exactly the same.
Kellen noticed how the Captain would pick up something for Hill, or Miro, and even Taylor, but never anything for himself.
So, the two eventually decided to go into an eclectic store.
One that held lots of things.
All ridiculously expensive, but the Captain refused to let Kellen get distracted by the numbers.
He’d been living too long on a shitty C Class Guide salary, and that wasn’t going to be his life anymore.
He was going to have to get used to it.
The two came up with a little game.
They would each pick out something for each other, with about ten minutes on the clock, and then would come back after they purchased it and then they would exchange them.
So, timer set, enthusiasm up, the pair set off.
10 minutes passed, the two met in front of the store and exchanged their parcels.
Kellen was nervous, and hoped that the Captain liked what he’d gotten him.
It was something practical, and maybe not terribly personal, but he hoped he understood the thought behind it.
Kellen urged the Captain to open his first, to rip the band aid off, and the Captain easily humoured him.
Opening his package, he found a smaller, black box.
Inside the box was a fairly decent fountain pen.
It was a little on the basic side, without any personalization, but that could be forgiven since they had only had 10 minutes.
It was beautiful though.
At first glance it appears predominantly black, with gold accents, but upon closer inspection under the sun it was clear that it was a stone or gem of some kind, probably from a gate.
It was cool to the touch, with a nice grip, and the Captain was quite pleased with his gift.
He easily rewarded Kellen with a soft peck that had the Guide blinking at him slowly, and the Captain smiled.
He shoved his gift towards the Guide, holding his like a precious treasure. Kellen, curious, turned towards his gift.
It felt soft to the touch, even through the packaging paper, so he knew it was cloth of some kind.
Opening it, he stared for a second before handing off the paper to the Captain to open it.
It was…two aprons.
That alone felt like it was against the rules, but Kellen was also too shocked to really process it.
The first one appeared normal.
Appeared so.
As he opened the black apron, he realised there was a zipper in a very particular area of the apron.
When Kellen gave the Captain a confused look, the man had shrugged and simply stated that it was for when he needed a snack while he was cooking.
Kellen had flushed so red it felt criminal.
The second apron was a little more reasonable in a sense.
It was a classic maid apron.
Frilly, white and black, with a large bow.
When Kellen pointed out it wasn’t wide enough, or long enough, the Captain had given Kellen a look, and Kellen had ducked his head.
He had forgotten that was the whole point of these kinds of things.
He wasn’t sure if he could thank the Captain for these, since they felt more like gifts for the Captain, then for Kellen, but he was a polite boy, and was raised right, so he did.
The Captain’s gaze had brightened, and he’d given him a lazy grin in response.
It was only around this point that Kellen realised that they were on a date.
Since Kellen had never been on one before, he had no idea what to expect, but they were going through the tropes of a date.
They had eaten together, gone shopping together, gotten each other a gift to exchange.
Kellen just wondered what the next thing would be after this?
