Chapter 91: Behind those hazel eyes Chapter 91: Behind those hazel eyes The guiding session that Kellen walked into was mild, and easy.
Taylor didn’t have a lot of time to talk to them, since she was busy helping out with the medical team.
Kellen hadn’t seen most of these members before, but every few seconds someone was knocking on the door to speak to Taylor. Kellen found it humorous, since he spent most of the time checking on the Captain’s internal powers.
The Captain, however, was slightly annoyed.
Kellen could tell from the way the waves were slightly aggressive, and grew more aggressive the longer Kellen guided him. When Kellen came out after fifteen minutes, spending a few extra seconds to take in the work he had done, he found an apologetic Taylor, and a slightly annoyed Captain. “I’m sorry you two.
I know we probably had a lot to talk about, and that you had some questions, but with the new gate fiasco my team has to coordinate with the other Guild’s and the D.E.C.
They need me first.
If you have any questions, I’m probably better at answering them as a text.” Kellen nodded at her sincere words.
She tossed Kellen four shakes, and Kellen caught two of them, while the Captain caught the other two.
Then, with a fluttering of papers and her cell phone ringing, Taylor left them alone in the guiding room again. Kellen glanced at the slightly annoyed look on the Captain’s face, and burst into laughter. Pulling off the machine’s monitoring tabs, Kellen shook his head as he began to get dressed.
The Captain watched Kellen, his facial expression relaxing. “What’s so funny, Mr.
Woods?” He asked, and Kellen turned a laughing smile towards him. “It’s obvious from your expression what you’re thinking, Captain.” When he gave Kellen a raised eyebrow, Kellen smirked.
“You’re expression is saying ‘I can take some time for myself, why can’t you?'” The Captain’s eyes widened as Kellen pretended to lower his voice to mimic the Captain.
His expression brightened, along with his now hazel gaze, and Kellen smiled at him. “Is that what I sound like to you?” He asked, amused, and Kellen chuckled. “Sometimes.
You aren’t always an overbearing Esper, but right now?
That is the energy you are giving off.” Kellen teased, and the Captain sat back in his chair, watching Kellen.
He could tell that something good had happened to the Guide, but he had no idea what it was.
He wasn’t going to complain though, seeing Kellen like this was a treat. “Oh?
I’m overbearing?
And I’m judging Green for not managing her time better?” Kellen’s lips twitched and he turned his back to button up his shirt.
He heard the Captain chuckle.
“Well, I can’t completely deny what you are suggesting.
I do believe that Green should manage her time better, especially if she took the weekend off.” Kellen snorted. “She should be able to take weekends off without drowning in work, Captain.” He protested, and the Captain chuckled. “I agree with you, but there isn’t anything I can do about it.
Green keeps a small team intentionally, and she has a hard time handing work over to others.
My displeasure with her comes from her inability to do so.
If she had someone like Brent, or Hill or Gunther, she wouldn’t be as strung out as she is going to be.” Kellen turned back around, most of his buttons done up.
He noticed the way the Captain was staring at him and cleared his throat.
The Captain’s eyes darted back towards Kellen’s face, his eyes crinkling up at the corners as his hazel eyes warmed.
Kellen’s chest warmed as he stared into the hazel eyes of the man he had guided, and he felt his mouth water.
Kellen swallowed. “I didn’t know that Taylor had such a hard time giving up control.” Kellen paused, trying to distract himself from the fact that the Captain was still topless by recalling his past with Taylor.

She had been on the student council, and was popular and well liked in school.
She knew everyone, and appeared to be a part of a bunch of clubs or sports….Huh.
Maybe she did have some control issues. Kellen’s eyes wandered, the same way the Captain’s were.
He stared openly at the Captain’s chest.
He’d removed the monitors and sat with his pants on.
The leather of his belt was shiny, and led Kellen’s eyes towards the large buckle at the front of his pants.
As if to entice him, the Captain shifted his legs slightly, moving them further apart.
Kellen flushed, glancing up at the Captain’s face to find him watching Kellen like a hawk.
Kellen shivered.
His eyes weren’t glowing, but Kellen could tell that there was a beast lying behind the gaze.
Kellen knew he should look away, that he shouldn’t poke the bear, but he couldn’t.
He couldn’t rip his gaze away from the Captain’s body.
As Kellen watched, a slow drop of sweat rolled down his chest, moving slowly, but gaining speed as it rolled between his pecs, and down the valley of his abs.
Kellen swallowed, unaware that his mouth was slightly open. “Kellen.” The Captain’s voice was soft, coaxing. “Hm?” Kellen responded, distracted. “Do you want to come over for some tea?” He asked, and Kellen froze.
Remembering what he’d been lectured on earlier in the day, he felt his face heat.
He now knew what the Captain was asking, and knowing that made him feel conflicted.
Had he been the same Kellen of the day prior, he would have agreed without an issue.
Now?
“…What kind of tea?” He asked, and watched as the Captain’s muscles flexed as he laughed. “Whatever kind you like.” He answered, and Kellen swallowed. “You mean that?” Kellen asked, and the chair screeched as the Captain pushed it back.
Kellen’s eyes followed him as he approached, and the Captain slowly tilted his chin up, forcing his gaze away from the Captain’s body. “Kellen, I heard what you said before loud and clear.
I don’t want to force you into anything.
I’m going to make sure you are with me every step of the way.
I promise.” Kellen met the hazel gaze before him, and felt himself caving quickly.
When his eyes were yellow, they felt sharp, hard.
When they were hazel?
It felt like he was staring into the gaze of a giant puppy. “Don’t you have work you need to do?” Kellen protested, and the Captain chuckled. “If that is your only concern, then I think I am making great progress.” The Captain muttered before pressing his lips gently against Kellen’s.
Kellen sighed against his lips, relaxing as the two gently kissed.
Kellen wanted to do more, but the Captain was the one to pull away.
“Let me get dressed first.
I know you don’t want me to, but I promise you’ll have fun undressing me later.” He winked at Kellen, and was astounded when Kellen’s face went up like a fuse.
He blinked, shocked as Kellen covered his face. Kellen, for his part, was also shocked.
He hadn’t expected that the Captain winking at him with hazel eyes, eyes he’d helped to make hazel, would affect him this much. “Please go get dressed.” Kellen muttered, closing his eyes and wanting the ground to swallow him up.
He heard, rather than saw the Captain getting dressed before two arms wrapped around him.
Kellen felt the Captain rest his head against Kellen’s shoulder. “Are you embarrassed?” The Captain asked, and Kellen wanted to crawl into a hole. “I don’t even want to explain why.” Kellen muttered.
“I know you’ll use it against me if I do.” The Captain chuckled. “If it gets a reaction like that out of you, I can’t say that I wouldn’t.
I don’t want to lie to you.
At the same time, I also know that you don’t like when I embarrass you.
What if I do it accidentally in public?” He asked, serious, and Kellen sighed heavily. “That is unlikely.” He muttered, and the Captain gave him a squeeze. “Why?” He asked, and Kellen groaned.
He refused to lower his hands from his face. “…Your eyes.” Kellen admitted finally, and could tell that it only made the Captain more confused. “My eyes?
What about them?” He asked softly, coaxingly, and that only made Kellen groan more. “Fuck.” He muttered, and the Captain pressed a kiss into his hair. “Come on Kellen, I promise I won’t tease you about it.” Kellen was still hesitant to speak, and after a few more minutes of close, intimate negotiating, Kellen finally admitted the truth. “Your eyes are hazel after our guiding sessions.
Sometimes you use powers right away, other times you don’t.
I can tell.
And the difference between you with your normal eyes and your hazel eyes is…” Kellen shivered, and because the Captain was still holding him, he could tell. “Was that a good shiver, or a bad one?
Does it scare you?” The Captain asked.
Kellen believed he was concerned, so answered seriously, if not completely embarrassed. “No…it’s not fear.” He murmured quietly, knowing that the Captain could hear him. “So you aren’t scared of me when I have hazel eyes?” The Captain confirmed, and Kellen could feel that he was on the cusp of teasing him.
Kellen sighed, exhausted. “No.
It’s like…pride, I guess?
I’m proud that I helped make them that colour, which when combined with your normal behaviour is just…” Kellen trailed off, uncovering his face and turning his head to the side.
He could feel that his ears were pink, since his face felt hot.
“It’s dangerous.” Kellen admitted, his heart thumping away in his chest.
The Captain’s arms tightened quickly, before relaxing. “Oh.
So, do you like my eyes more when they are hazel then?” The Captain asked quietly.
Kellen immediately took it as offense, and moved so that he could look into the Captain’s gaze. “No, it’s nothing like that!
It’s just, I’m not used to them, and they give your face a different look.
You could-” Kellen cut off, swallowing as soon as he met said hazel gaze.
The Captain watched him, curious, and Kellen watched as his gaze dipped to Kellen’s lips. “I could what, Kellen?” He asked softly, and Kellen let out a shaky breath.
He should be panicking, hell, he should hear the alarm bells, but for some reason, they weren’t ringing. “You could talk me into anything with hazel eyes.” Kellen admitted, wanting to break eye contact, but unable to.
The Captain groaned. “Kellen, you need to control that mouth of yours.
I’m already unbearably hard from the way you looked at me earlier, I don’t want to cum in my pants in the guiding room of my medical bay.” Kellen nearly swallowed his tongue.
The Captain bent closer, and Kellen could feel his breath against his ear.
“Unless you want me to?” Kellen sucked air in, and forgot to breathe out.
The Captain chuckled, pressing a kiss against Kellen’s neck.
Kellen shuddered, and then grew embarrassed by his reaction. “I-I don’t think that’s what Taylor wants to happen in this room.
I also wouldn’t be able to meet your gaze again if you did that in this room.” Kellen murmured, and the Captain chuckled.
He stepped away from Kellen, his eyes still hazel as he looked over the Guide.
He still had a few buttons he needed to do up on his shirt, and his face was flushed.
He looked embarrassed, and Kellen nervously adjusted his pants. “Well, I couldn’t have you not making eye contact with me.
Who knows what I’d do to get you to meet my gaze?” The Captain teased, and Kellen flushed further.
“Drink your shakes, Kellen.
I don’t want to be the reason Taylor lectures you.” Kellen quickly finished buttoning up his shirt and was just pouring a shake into his mouth when the Captain spoke up again.
“At least, not yet.” Kellen sputtered, nearly getting the shake all over himself and the Captain laughed as he grabbed some paper towel from the other side of the room.
He helped Kellen clean up, even as the Guide glared at him.
The Captain smiled, pressing a kiss against his forehead.
