Chaos Devourer System - Chapter 105
Chapter 105: No Way Home
A pair of dull-looking eyes slowly opened as a blue light revealed itself to the world.
Zeras looked at the small shining stars in the sky, looking to him that they were in pairs of two and threes but as time passed, they became clear once again as his consciousness slowly tuned to his environment.
He looked dazed at the stars in the sky when suddenly his eyes widened in shock as he jumped up, reflexively clenching his hands and surveying the surroundings.
“Oh, you’re awake…” The familiar husky voice of Officer Halo echoed out to him as Zeras turned back, raising an eyebrow on seeing what the group was doing, and slowly put down his raised fist.
The group of five officers could be seen sitting on stones arranged in a circular format while a fire could be seen in their middle where a 3-meter-long fish was getting roasted.
“Come, come sit with me, kid…” Officer Halo called out to him as Zeras moved closer to the group and sat down looking at the fish getting roasted.
“Thank you, Officers…” Zeras bowed sincerely.
“If there’s anybody you are indebted to, it’s Officer Halo…” Officer Arroyo said to him.
“Forget it boy, it’s our fault for bringing you into this mess in the first place.” Officer Halo said as he once again clapped Zeras on the shoulder.
“Um… where is the spaceship?…” Zeras asked looking at the area as he noticed the spaceship was nowhere to be found.
“Destroyed…”
“What!!!” Zeras jumped up from his seat in shock. The spaceship was destroyed!!! How will they get back?
“Here…take this…” Officer Arroyo passed Zeras a gigantic half-side of the fish’s tail.
Even though it was pure roasted fish with not a single bit of seasoning, it was for some unknown reasons to Zeras very delicious.
The group ate in silence as they quickly finished the gigantic three-meter fish. While it might have been too much for the normal human. The appetite of awakeners can only be described as one thing: Godly.
“Zeras when you passed out. The Spaceship was sent crashing into the ground by an Abyssal creature, but Halo saved you from dying in the crash. To get revenge for the spaceship crashing, we managed to hunt down a few of the creatures, and one of them is this Middle Meteor rank stage Fish…” Officer Arroyo began explaining.
“The mission for you before was to simply fly us to this place after which you can return. But now, it will be suicide sending you back on your own even with the spaceship talkless of now without the spaceship.” Officer Arroyo said to him, but Zeras remained quiet not saying a word.
“Since you can’t go back now, then we have no choice but to take you on the mission…” Officer Emmaus butted in.
“But first, you’re at the Star Rank stage and should have a genetic ability. What’s your genetic ability, Zeras…” Officer Arroyo said seriously but Zera’s expression didn’t change at all as he extended his right hand forward and before the group’s eyes, it morphed into a white-colored blade.
The entire group raised an eyebrow looking at the white-coloured blade formed from Zeras flesh but Zeras wasn’t done as Mana rumbled in his body and flowed into the blade causing a white halo of Mana to surround the blade.
“This is my genetic ability…” Zeras said causing a small nod of approval from Arroyo.
“Zeras, try cutting me with the blade…” Halo suddenly said causing a shocked expression to appear on Zera’s face as he watched Halo extend his hands forward.
“Don’t mock me and just do it…” Officer Halo said with a slight mocking smirk on his face.
‘Well, I’ve been getting underestimated by you all since all this while, guess it’s time I show you guys even an underestimated ant can kill a lion…’ Zeras thought to himself as he raised the blade forward, its tip pointing at the sky…
The white halo around the blade suddenly erupted in a bright flash of white light as Zeras poured all his Mana into the blade before slicing down with all his strength.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP
The sound of the air being sliced into two echoed out as the blade sliced downwards and landed on Officer Halo’s arm.
DIIIIIIIING.
Zera’s eyes widened in disbelief as he was sent skidding and he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
A horrifying vibration rang through the whole of Zera’s system as his blood tumbled and rolled in his body.

“Hahahaha…” The mocking laughter of Officer Halo rang out within the silence of the night while small smirks appeared on the other officers’ faces.
“I…How…” Zeras looked at Officer Halo’s outstretched hand in confusion as he saw only a single white line appear on the arm before quickly fading away faster than it appeared.
His full-powered attack using his genetic ability and infusing all his Mana into it only creates a white line on Officer Halo’s arm. Instead, he was the one getting injured from the resultant wave.
“Zeras it’s already impressive enough you can even leave a line on Officer Halo’s hand. Your ability would no doubt be able to immediately sever the neck of an Early Meteor rank stage expert and you’re only at the early star rank stage… You should be proud instead…” Officer Arroyo said seriously as Zeras wiped the blood on his mouth off and sat down on his seat.
“Zeras I hope you can understand this…” Officer Arroyo begins but Zeras immediately cuts him off…
“I understand Officers. I’m currently too weak to partake in this mission. The Humbans surrounding the Humban Tower will be the strongest among the bunch. Since we’re doing an infiltration mission, my going there will only ruin the mission. Therefore to ensure the mission is completed, I must be left behind…” Zeras explained calmly looking at the burning flame in front of him.
The place turned eerily silent as Officer Arroyo kept his head down while the other officers didn’t say anything.
“To be honest. Even if you’ve asked me to come with you. Although I dare not disobey, I would have been reluctant, because there’s a very high chance of me dying if I followed you. So I’m happy I’ll be staying behind, infiltration and combat are not my thing. I’m more of a pilot than a soldier. So good luck on the mission officers” Zeras said with a bright smile.
“Just don’t forget to come back here for me once you have completed the mission. I don’t want to die on an Alien Planet…” Zeras said causing Officer Halo to burst into laughter.
“I like you very much Zeras. Very manly, unlike Emmaus over there. Don’t worry, even if they’ll forget you. I will come back for you, mission complete or not, so you have nothing to worry about.” Officer Halo said, his large hand patting Zeras on his shoulder although Zeras could almost cough up blood with every single pat.
“I’m glad you understand, Zeras. And since you don’t wish to join in on the mission, I won’t force you. This place is the forest area between the Humbans settlement and the Malovelent Sea. It’s an Off-limits area even to the Humbans due to its closeness to the sea, so you should be safe here. The mission duration is only two days or four maximum.
I have contacted the EIA base, and your location has been successfully known through your school watch. If after four days you don’t see us. Then they’ll track down your watch and bring you back to the base…” Officer Arroyo said.
“Yes Sir…” Zeras said standing up straight.
“Good. Remember to never leave the forest. We’ll surely come back to you in three days…” Officer Emmaus said from the side.
“I’ll be waiting, officers…” Zeras said with a bright smile before moving up to the closest tree and jumping up to the branches.
“Then it’s time for us to move also…” Officer Arroyo said as the group of five stood up and slowly moved out of the forest in the direction opposite the Malevolent Sea.
“Don’t do something stupid, Zeras…” Officer Halo’s voice rang out from the distance causing a smile to appear on Zera’s face as he tucked both palms at the back of his head and sank into the comfort of the tree branch he was lying on.
‘Do something stupid? He had completely no interest in going to go and die a stupid death for one damn princess he knew nothing about. Instead of doing that, he would while away time resting on the tree branch and whistling about the song of the drunkard and the donkey they were taught in the orphanage.
At least that was the plan he had before suddenly something appeared in front of him making him fall off the tree as a vein popped on his forehead and he coughed up blood in disbelief and anger.
