Chapter 262: DON’T UNLOCK. WRONG CHAPTER. MOVE TO THE NEXT CHAPTER. AUTHOR-SAMA APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCES
The Temple!
A large structure which could rival that of a three-story building on Earth. It was white and radiated an ancient aura, as if having been present since the dawn of time.
Strangely, unlike the other buildings around the place, it wasn’t splattered with blood at all, and its white painting was still incredibly neat as if it just got painted today.
“Finally,” Liam mused, turning his head behind him where the sun could be seen slowly setting, and the snow was beginning to become scanty.
It was a sign of the arrival of the Undead and in such a new environment, they definitely don’t want to be out, as the concentration of the undead in this place was unknown.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Suddenly, a loud explosion rippled out to them from afar as the group rapidly turned to the side.
Far away around 100 Kilometers, a green pillar of energy could be seen tearing through the sky, a ripping open a hole in the sky.
The strange phenomenon of the pillar of energy soon disappeared just as it came, as the pillar faded away, the only sign of its former existence being the circular hole ripped open among the clouds.
“What…what is that?” Theodore’s shocked voice echoed out to the group as the group involuntarily turned to Liam, who had his eyes narrowed.
‘That Aura…’ It was strange and completely out of this world. Yet it carried a hint of familiarity, just like the Mana present within him but also different.
One thing was sure, that energy wasn’t from a human. He would have been inclined to say perhaps an undead but even the beast they fought with right now didn’t have such an aura.
“It must be other adventures that came in with us. Once we garner everything we need here, we’ll be checking it out next, together.” Liam as he took the first step among the rows of steps going up to the temple, the group quickly following behind him.
DRUUUUUUMMMM
The sound of the gigantic five meters door opening resounded through the hall as the group immediately stepped in.
“Khan.” Liam called out as Khan ordered in his minds.
‘Activate Nanorunic Eyes…” Immediately, the entire world changed becoming a long darkness where four red lights could be seen which were from the four others and as his gaze pierced forward reaching even the end of the hall, there was no other energy apart from their own.
“There’s nothing…” And immediately, Liam and Sharon closed the door shut. It speaks of the weight of two awakeners one at the Meteor rank stage both has to work together to push open the door. It was no wonder they were no signs of undead within.
“No Undead will be able to push open this door. And since there’s no other creature but us, then we’re pretty safe. We will stay here for the night, and browse through this temple in the morning….” Liam offered, to which the group agreed too.
Even though Mitsuri managed to heal them back up with her ability. The exhaustion on the mind was present and the need for rest was intense. Asking them to start checking for treasures and analyzing the temple might lead to them missing some pretty important clues. So it was better to rest for the night before continuing what they came here to do.
In the long hall, they were three large doors, and Zeras pointed to one at the side as the group immediately moved. Therein were mats and bunker beds spread across the medium-sized room.
It seems this was the place used for rest in the temple. And immediately each of them moved towards the bunker beds, as Sharon jumped to the bed above while Theodore slept in the one below.
The two strangely didn’t argue for them and less than 10 minutes later, the sound of gentle breathing and soft snore echoed through the room.
Unlike the men, Mitsuri preferred to sleep on the mat instead, and strangely they were greatly softer than anything she had ever felt which was actually intriguing and made her raise an eyebrow, but she too soon fell asleep less than five minutes later.
Remaining were now, Khan and Liam, with Khan boringly reclining on the large door and Liam looking at the group sound asleep.
“Tomorrow morning, and we’ll have survived in this place for four days. That with not many casualties, too. It’s really commendable.” Liam began in the silence of the night, to which Khan gave a nod too.
“I know that defeating that beast must have taken quite the trouble. Thank you, Khan, for preventing us from becoming beast food…” Liam suddenly said as he stood upright and bow his head.
“It’s nothing…” Khan said pushing it off. He wasn’t trying to protect them or anything. It was simply because of the quest mission. Even if the group had decided to run, he would have stayed back to fight it, as the rewards were just too tempting. Liam got it all wrong.
“Actually It’s something. It is everything…” Liam said, sitting down on one of the mats.
“Really?”

“Yes. You know, when I was resisting that ice ball from the beast, and it ended up defeating my fire art. I felt like the entire world was crashing down on my chest as I found myself going unconscious beyond my ability. None of you could match that creature and I know you will all end up dying to it, I’m the only one with the least chance, yet I was knocked out so quickly. I fell into despair at that moment, as I know I’ve failed my duty!”
“Your duty? Was that?” Khan asked with a raised eyebrow. To him, Liam was just another adventurer on this mission but the strongest and therefore the group is more inclined to listen to his opinion. There isn’t any duty except for completing the mission given.
So what was the duty Liam was mentioning?
