Chaos' Heir - Chapter 1186
Chapter 1186: Automated
Ambassador Sunne couldn’t oppose Khan’s words. He didn’t even take offense. The Prince hadn’t spoken out of arrogance or entitlement. He was too above the Ambassador on so many levels that the latter couldn’t suffice as his escort. Few people in the world could do so at that point.
Khan, and Garret, for that matter, had predicted that the human space station would suffer from his arrival. So, the forces on Coravis sent the ship’s reinforced room next, which Khan immediately entered to shield his surroundings from his presence.
Being sealed in such a cramped room when a whole space station was available wasn’t ideal, but Khan accepted that compromise with the help of the booze that Ambassador Sunne willingly provided.
Moreover, the engineers couldn’t let their Prince remain enclosed in such a narrow space for too long, so they worked overtime to reassemble the ship. At some point, Khan had to exit the reinforced room to let his workers finish the job and decided to spend that time past the mana barrier again.
Needless to say, Khan’s decision triggered another wave of silent uproar. The first time could be a case, but the second confirmed that unbelievable truth. Khan could endure space’s deadly environment. He had defeated that unconquerable, empty landscape, stepping where no human could ever hope to reach in one piece.
It didn’t help that the space station’s soldiers weren’t the specialized troops inside Khan’s structures. They had only heard about Khan’s feats without ever witnessing them with their own eyes. Many warriors even believed the rumors to be exaggerated, but the truth became evident after those scenes.
The rumors weren’t exaggerated. They were watered down.
Of course, Khan didn’t mind the silent uproar or the widespread attention he received. He felt a bit bad about disregarding Ambassador Sunne, but the issue was unavoidable.
Khan had spoken the truth. Someone like him couldn’t have anything to say to a third-level warrior. Khan and the Ambassador existed in different realities, and the same went for all the soldiers in the space station. Even Khan’s engineers matched that description, so he opted for isolation.
That was the exact reason why the Nognes’ Excellencies had asked Khan to step down from his position as faction leader. Evolved warriors had no place in politics since their power exempted them from any rule. Khan understood that, so he stayed away.
That isolation didn’t last long since Khan’s engineers were trained masters. They reassembled his ship in no time, allowing him to enter it and start the inevitable set off. He could theoretically delay his arrival at the Kros’ structure a bit longer, but killing a few hours wouldn’t change anything.
Khan’s ship already had all the data it could possibly want. The control desk knew the coordinates and flight route for the Kros structure, so Khan let the autopilot handle that part since it would fly slower than he would. Meanwhile, Khan indulged in more drinking, knowing the following hours would be rough.
Nevertheless, the appointed structure was truly close. After an hour, the ship’s scanners started to see something and sent those recordings to the control desk. The images grew clearer by the second, eventually allowing Khan to study the place.
Khan had already seen the structure in the briefing, but the scanners could capture far more details. A spherical glass-like object that resembled what humankind used in their domes stood among the universe’s blackness, seemingly anchored to its position.
The transparent sphere protected a cubical structure hovering at its center. Thick buildings rose from its six faces, each with specific artificial gravity. The Kros had assigned a block to each species that would attend the ceremony, while the event itself would happen inside, at the place’s center, or lower level, depending on how someone saw it.
That strange type of architecture was undeniably intriguing. Khan didn’t know why the Kros bothered playing with the artificial gravity like that, but the nearing structure prevented him from dwelling on those problems. As curious as he was, each step he took toward that place intensified the sense of finality of the whole event.
The spherical glass didn’t have precise doors or openings. It turned out it wasn’t glass at all, either. When Khan’s ship reached the appointed spot, that transparent material morphed, becoming liquid, allowing him to cross it without putting the internal atmosphere at risk.
That was actually quite impressive. Khan had never seen a similar iteration of that technology, but everything else looked ordinary. The planned path brought his ship above one of the blocks, where it hovered toward the top of its vast building, which opened to reveal a spacious hangar.
The hangar was also ordinary. Dark-grey surfaces illuminated by a pale white light enveloped it, with sliding doors and staircases connecting it to the other rooms in the building. The place expanded downward, but Khan mainly focused on a different detail.
Ever since leaving the space station, Khan had been alone. No one had received him even after reaching the spherical structure. The entire place was automated, only requiring his previously given genetic signature to activate its various functions.
Other than that, the place looked quite firm. Khan had calmed down, but the various surfaces seemed to endure his presence quite well. They were definitely on par with what his force had built for him, allowing him to relax.
The hangar had a stand at its bottom that ended in a transparent display of the building’s architecture. The menus were already in the human language, describing in great detail the many services the place offered.
Khan had to admit the list surprised him. Even his private quarters on Baoway didn’t have so many luxurious activities. Admittedly, he never asked for them, but the fact that a single building provided them said much about the Kros’ technological ability.
Of course, Khan wasn’t in the mood for a spa, a visit to an automated salon, or the other activities the building offered. He memorized the map and headed for the nearest place with free booze before retreating to his assigned quarters.
Khan’s quarters had some booze, too, but he felt stocking up on it would be wise due to the complicated situation. His flat was vast and neat, containing miniature versions of the other luxurious services in the building, but one detail captured his attention and led his steps.
The bedroom opened into a relatively vast balcony with metal handrails at its edges. Khan entered it, leaving the additional bottles on the floor before lifting his gaze. He sensed the spherical layer, but it was transparent enough to grant a perfect view of the universe outside.
The detail was quite surprising. Usually, except for the Thilku, everyone refrained from building balconies, especially in space. Still, Khan found it to be a welcome discovery. After all, he had hours to kill, and doing so under decent scenery was bound to improve his mood.
So, Khan sat down, lying his back on the metal wall while opening one of the bottles. He didn’t bother retrieving cups, so he drank directly from the container while his glowing eyes stared at the vast expanse outside, hearing a distant call.
It was technically deep into the night, and the ceremony was close to lunchtime, so Khan had plenty of time to kill and relax. He honestly needed that since the following day would feature a mess of politics and worse, but a powerful disturbance ran through the synthetic symphony before he could even attempt to do that.
Khan couldn’t help but frown. A powerful presence had suddenly appeared within his senses’ range, coming from the building’s base and bringing a wave of cold with it. Still, as freezing as those sensations were, Khan found them familiar and cozy.

Khan stood up as the presence became even closer. He didn’t worry about a potential battle, but it was rare for his senses to fail to pick up more details. Khan only felt that the incoming newcomer was a cold, relatively unreadable fifth-level warrior.
However, the answers to that confusion arrived when Khan spotted a figure with two glowing white eyes crossing the corner of his building and heading for his balcony, seemingly walking on the air.
