Chaos' Heir - Chapter 1200
Chapter 1200: Connection
Khan knew what he had said to Liiza but didn’t add details. His spiritual loneliness had been a curse that had followed him since he had learned to see the mana, but he was okay with it, especially since Liiza lived in the same reality.
Yet, what was fine for Khan didn’t necessarily sit well with Liiza. Her words had weight, and her promises were far from empty. She would fix Khan, even if she had to rely on the dangerous old ways.
Khan didn’t know what to say, but his new sensations kept his thoughts churning. He felt Liiza. He couldn’t help but experience a fainter version of what she experienced. Even if Khan tried, he wouldn’t be alone anymore.
Magically, the spiritual loneliness that had afflicted Khan for years vanished out of thin air, as if it had never existed. He was saved once again, gaining something he didn’t realize he desperately needed until now.
“Is it safe to hug you?” Khan asked.
“I’m just tired,” Liiza giggled. “I’ll be fine enough for sex in a few hours, too.”
Khan didn’t even hear that joke. His mind had stopped listening since Liiza’s first words, gently pulling the hand on his cheek while moving forward. He crouched before Liiza, hugging her with care, hiding his face on her neck while more foreign sensations invaded him.
Liiza felt Khan, and Khan felt Liiza. The two experienced what their respective presence did to their bodies, minds, and souls. They were similar, opposite, and necessary, like two pieces of a puzzle with intricate edges, too unique to match with anyone but miraculously perfect for each other.
“You can’t keep saving me,” Khan whispered, feeling what his warm breath did to Liiza when it spread over her neck.
“When could you ever tell me what to do?” Liiza teased, experiencing what Khan felt when her lips moved over his skin. “Besides, this time you saved me first.”
Khan was a master of teasing, but couldn’t think of a reply. He didn’t want to, either. He only wished to remain in that loving hug forever, but Liiza gradually grew more aggressive as her condition improved, and the same went for him.
“[Liiza]?” Khan called.
“[Yes]?” Liiza replied.
“What would have happened if the tattoo were red?” Khan asked, not forgetting that detail.
“Oh,” Liiza exclaimed. “Red is impurity. It would have meant I established the connection out of jealousy or toxicity.”
“And?” Khan insisted.
“Well,” Liiza awkwardly continued. “I forced this mental connection on you. Doing it for impure reasons would have caused a backlash.”
“Never do anything so dangerous ever again,” Khan ordered.
“You have a Shaman as your wife,” Liiza snorted. “You have to deal with the consequences now. Besides, you did it first.”
Khan could only put more strength into the hug. He truly couldn’t win against Liiza. He didn’t want to, either. Being defeated by her simply felt too good.
“Do you remember how I marked you back then?” Liiza whispered, leaving soft kisses on the base of Khan’s neck. “We don’t have to hide our relationship anymore, but I still want everyone to see every once in a while.”
“Of course I remember,” Khan chuckled, bathing in the novel sensations without forgetting to address the issue. “We won’t have to hide our relationship. We’ll just have to hide ourselves.”
Khan sensed Liiza’s confusion as soon as she experienced it. She pulled herself back to look at Khan’s face. Her complexion had started to recover, but paleness expanded on her cheeks before she asked her question.
“Aren’t we going to your home?” Liiza timidly asked.
“We could,” Khan admitted, enjoying that sight. “I’d like it, but these years have taught me much about politics, and nothing unites people like a common enemy.”
Liiza began to understand something, but the full picture still escaped her. She had become a capable leader, but her experience in interspecies politics was far below Khan’s.
Khan sighed, caressing Liiza’s cheeks before standing up and scratching his head. He had made that decision on his own, but it was time to let Liiza in.
“I might be wrong,” Khan announced, looking down at Liiza before diverting his gaze. “And if we find out I’m wrong, we’ll fly directly to my planet. However, it’s safer to disappear for now.”
Liiza didn’t say anything. Truth be told, she enjoyed that new, politically confident, and capable side of Khan, so watching it felt like a reward. Still, she also wanted to hear his explanation.
“Reputation is a big thing,” Khan explained. “We insulted both Niqols, Kros, and humans. Chances are they’ll join hands to hunt us down to salvage the alliance you created.”

Khan knew little about the Kros, but the Niqols and humans were another story. The Global Army already hated him, and the Niqols had a great sense of unity when it came to their species. They might push the blame on Liiza, paying the Kros back by joining the hunt for her. Humankind might even steer the negotiations in that direction.
“Can’t we negotiate?” Liiza wondered, realizing how right Khan was. He felt her sadness due to the new mental connection, which only empowered his following statement.
“I don’t negotiate, Liiza,” Khan declared. “If they come to take you away, I’ll kill every last one of them.”
A short tremor ran through the ship, adding weight to Khan’s declaration. He wasn’t joking. He knew what he would do, and that wouldn’t even be his first time. Khan had started wars for less and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
“Should I kill Niqols?” Khan asked, seemingly warning Liiza about what he had become. “Should I kill Ilman? Azni? Doku?”
Khan turned with a snort before continuing. “Or should I eradicate the Kros? It would be easy, and the Emperor would be happy to help. We’d squash them like bugs and turn their planet into a pile of debris.”
Khan was speaking the truth, but was also exaggerating. His guilt made him do that. Part of him still wanted to push Liiza away because he felt unworthy of having her, now more than ever.
Nevertheless, something completely different spread in Khan’s mind, making him turn to look down at the sitting figure. Liiza was smiling warmly, unaffected by the recent statements. She did believe them, but also knew something else.
Liiza slowly started to stand up, and Khan promptly helped her. She took his hand, straightening herself before placing her palm on his chest and throwing a wise, unfazed look at him.
“[You never could hide your heart from me],” Liiza declared, looking right through Khan. “[I know you did things in these ten years, but you remain the boy who chose treason over genocide].”
“[Except I did those, too],” Khan responded. “[More than once].”
“[Did they ask you to]?” Liiza wondered, still unfazed. “[Did you accept to do it so you would be the only one left suffering]?”
Khan opened his mouth, only to close it immediately. Somehow, Liiza had been right on the mark, and she sensed it, making a beautiful smile blossom on her face.
“I know you became like this for a reason,” Liiza stated, her eyes and voice gaining a chilling, ruthless killing intent. “So, who are we fighting?”
Liiza was straight-up scary. The freezing palm on Khan’s chest could probably pierce his rib cage and rip off his heart in a swift move, but he felt no fear. His face echoed Liiza’s killing intent, and his hand went on her nape, holding it tightly.
“There’s a reason the Nak launched their attacks,” Khan revealed. “The answer wasn’t in the nightmares, but my Nak’s genes carried it.”
