Chapter 1247: Envoy
Khan didn’t have the time to earn the Nele’s trust, and Jenna knew it. As much as Tamara acted as living proof of his goodwill, the Nele had to remain careful and wary.

The offer’s magnitude would even make the Nele who had started to trust Khan wary. A planet was too big and grand a gift for that species.

Besides, years had passed since Khan had interacted with any Nele. Even the aliens he had met on Milia 222 would think the offer was too good to be true. Perhaps Caja would be an exception, but the cumbersome ship had another, probably the main one.

Jenna trusted Khan with her life, and seeing him with Liiza only reinforced her belief that he hadn’t changed in those years. If anything, Khan had become more of himself, discovering parts of him outside his curse.

Khan had also always been selfless, so Jenna knew he had made that offer because he knew he could keep the Nele safe. Convincing the Nele was the problem, and only a fellow alien would do.

So, Jenna offered herself as a guinea pig for that experiment. That was the piece Khan lacked, and Jenna was no small part of the puzzle. Milia 222 was one of the Nele’s main colonies, and her status there was quite high.

Khan’s glowing gaze snapped to his left, eyeing the tall, stunning alien. Jenna simply smiled, but Khan didn’t let her happiness blind him. He knew better than to initiate such a reckless plan right away.

“What do you mean by envoy?” Khan asked, already knowing what Jenna had in mind but hoping he was wrong.

“I’ll gather willing Nele from Milia 222’s colony and join you in your flight to this planet.” Jenna declared.

Khan held back a curse, hating himself for being right. What Jenna had suggested was reasonable. It actually was the proper and sole political way to deal with the offer, but Khan only saw problems.

Three species were looking for Khan and Liiza. He was in no position to protect his ship and crew, let alone an entire envoy of one of the most eye-catching aliens in the universe.

Also, Khan had built most of his current safety on remaining hidden, and adding a whole envoy of Nele would ruin it. He just couldn’t let Jenna face that risk. It was too soon due to the current political situation in the universe.

Things might have been different if Khan had room for the Nele envoy on his ship. He could sort of make that work, but Carlos’ crew and the rescued women had already made the vessel reach its full capacity

Moreover, adding more Nele to that forced cohabitation would destroy the frail balance Khan had created, and he couldn’t bring himself to sacrifice either side.

Supplies were another issue, and more of those problems popped into Khan’s mind, demanding the necessity of other ships to complete that journey to Coravis. He also had to be present during the flight to add validity to his offer, and the consequences wouldn’t be minor.

Khan had been lucky with Ilman and Zalpa. The Nele had also been careful, but reaching Coravis with an envoy from a different species wasn’t something he could hide. The universe would finally pinpoint his location, forcing him to face the problems he had dodged until now.

Khan glanced at his wife and the green figure sleeping between her arms. He could ask for more time, but the Nele might not have that.

Also, Tamara’s situation confirmed how a solo journey wouldn’t be safe, either. The Nele would be in danger no matter what, but flying with Khan would give him a chance to protect them.

“Okay,” Khan agreed, looking at Jenna. “Coordinate with your envoy. I’ll make the preparations for the trip and share all the necessary info.”

Jenna was about to say something, but Khan suddenly faced the third-level warrior before him. The Nele almost believed Khan was about to make another threat. Still, he performed a Niqols’ bow, uttering a heartfelt promise.

“I’ll keep the Nele safe,” Khan swore. “I won’t let anything happen to them.”

The alien third-level warrior was slightly taken aback. The red marks had contained Khan’s aura, but his previous, restrained outburst had given the Nele an idea of his power.

Nevertheless, that same powerful blue-haired man was now bowing politely, his voice carrying all the care he could muster. The Nele knew better than to trust simple words, but something about Khan made them willing to try.

“If Jenna from Milia 222 is willing to vouch for Prince Khan,” The third-level warrior said, “The other colonies will support her decision.”

“Thank you,” Khan voiced, straightening himself, diverting his gaze as calculations happened in his mind. “I’ll need fuel and some supplies. We can’t stop at-”

“Get me the exact numbers,” Jenna interrupted. “We’ll get everything ready in a few days, but the fleet has to leave now.”

Khan exchanged an understanding glance with Jenna and nodded. The Nele still had to play it safe. Hovering in that quadrant with such an eye-catching force would only give clues to anyone looking for them.

“I’ll escort you out,” Khan declared.

“There will be no need,” Liiza stated, carefully standing up while lifting the Nele in her arms. “I have to put Tamara to bed, and I promised Jenna a talk. I’ll take care of escorting our guests.”

Khan frowned, but the two women had already stopped caring about him. Jenna and Liiza were smiling at each other, seemingly having made up their minds about the matter.

“Well then,” Khan muttered, looking at the Nele group. “I hope to see you again soon. I also hope it will be under better conditions.”

The Nele nodded, but Khan barely had the time to look at them before a cold hand landed on his shoulder. He turned in its direction, and Liiza left a quick kiss on his lips before heading toward the bridge’s exit, followed by the Nele.

Zalpa left before the group could reach her, and Khan soon watched as everyone left the bridge. Only he and Ilman remained by that circular arrangement of seats, together with its silence.

Khan heaved a sigh, feeling glad that he had something to do instead of worrying about leaving Liiza and Jenna alone. The cumbersome ship had just performed a long journey, so he needed to check for everything it might need to fly to Coravis.

However, a hunch told Khan he had forgotten something, which manifested itself in the form of two less cold hands on his shoulders. He peeked behind, following the red glow, to find a pair of wide eyes standing above him.

“[My friend],” Ilman called, his voice strangely softer than usual. “[You must help me].”
