Chapter 1248: Talk
Liiza escorted the Nele group to the ship’s opening, giving Jenna and the other aliens some privacy while she put Tamara to bed. Afterward, she returned to the area, experiencing no surprise in finding Jenna alone.

“Come,” Liiza ordered, closing the opening before heading toward another area.

Liiza began to depart, only for Jenna to grab her right elbow. The Niqos half-glared at her, but she replied with a cheerful smile before looking ahead, eager to have that promised talk.

Liiza held back a sigh and let Jenna cling to her, leading her toward the spacious dining area. The place was empty due to the meeting, so the two women could have all the privacy they needed there.

“My husband told me the Nele don’t like to drink,” Liiza announced, escaping Jenna’s grasp to tap on the circular table’s menus. “I can’t drink in my condition, either, but I’m sure I can find something.”

Liiza wanted to approach the promised talk like a proper meeting, but Jenna had different intentions. She kept smiling while looking at the dark blue figure by the desk before her urge to tease her took over.

“Husband,” Jenna repeated. “Never Khan. Is this what marking your territory is?”

Liiza stopped caring about the menus, slowly turning while leaning on the table and crossing her arms. Her glowing gaze fell on Jenna, inspecting every detail on her green face before a stern, proud expression took over hers.

“Khan is my husband,” Liiza declared, nodding at her sleeveless left arm. “He is already marked as mine, just like I am.”

Jenna pouted but shook her head, stepping forward to reach Liiza. She slowly lifted a hand, carefully reaching for Liiza’s left arm.

“Monica was funnier to tease,” Jenna complained. “She was shy about everything and would often shout at me, but you … You are Liiza. The Liiza.”

Liiza let Jenna take her arm and trace her warm fingers over her white tattoos. The Nele looked captivated by those permanent marks while attempting to translate their profound meaning.

“You have done everything first,” Jenna continued. “You taught Khan what he is now. Everything he experienced, he compared to what he had with you.”

Liiza had no words to say. She had heard Khan’s version about the matter and had even guessed her fair share of it. Yet, Jenna was now confirming that things matched Liiza’s worst prediction.

“How lost was he?” Liiza wondered.

“It’s in the past,” Jenna reassured. “After seeing him, I know he would do it all over again.”

“That stupid man,” Liiza sighed. “At times, I want to beat him up to no end, but one look at me, and I’m already jumping on him.”

“You could beat him up,” Jenna pointed out. “He would enjoy it. It’s how he agreed to try dating Monica.”

Liiza frowned, and Jenna added details when she noticed that reaction. “You didn’t know? Monica slapped Khan after their first kiss. It’s how he decided they might work.”

Khan had told Liiza a lot, but ten years had countless details. He obviously couldn’t make a comprehensive list of everything, especially since the two had been busy with each other.

“I thought about doing it while I was with Khan, too,” Jenna continued, her face reeking of innocence, “But I preferred when he bit me, especially on the neck.”

Liiza’s frown turned into a glare, but her pride soon returned.

“Are you jealous?” Liiza asked.

“Very,” Jenna admitted, nodding. “But I only wanted Khan to be happy, and you are giving him everything I could have hoped for.”

Jenna took another glance at Liiza’s arm before releasing it and straightening herself up, adding a simple praise. “These are beautiful.”

“Thank you,” Liiza exclaimed, also glancing at her left arm before bringing it to her waist. “I do wish to give him much more.”

Jenna looked at Liiza’s waist, unable to contain her smile. Her happiness burst, making her hop to Liiza’s side and lay her head on her shoulder.

“He told me you were cold,” Jenna commented under Liiza’s wary gaze, “But you are also quite cozy.”

“Do you have to do this?” Liiza questioned.

“We are sisters, aren’t we?” Jenna giggled, snuggling closer. “After all, we have both seen Khan naked.”

Liiza opened her mouth only to close it. She could scold Jenna again, but the stunning Nele looked quite cute on her shoulder. Also, Liiza had told the truth to Khan. Part of her already loved Jenna.

“Why didn’t you try to take Khan?” Liiza wondered. “You are beautiful and can understand him. Why did you push him toward Monica?”

“It would have hurt him,” Jenna revealed. “He would have accepted me and taken responsibility all his life, but that’s not how the Nele’s love works. I wanted his happiness and knew I couldn’t have given it to him.”

“And Monica?” Liiza asked. Khan had told her about Monica, but his perspective came after the relationship ended. Instead, Jenna knew about the beginning.

“She was a feisty girl,” Jenna giggled. “She pretended to be all superior and educated but turned into a little girl around Khan. She was different from us. That’s why I thought it could work.”

Liiza fell silent. Jenna had been right. Monica did work, albeit with some caveats.

“Do you resent me?” Jenna wondered.

“No,” Liiza shook her head. “You held yourself back for my husband’s happiness. He is here also because of you. I resent that you couldn’t attend our marriage.”

“Are you marking your territory again?” Jenna asked.

“A bit,” Liiza giggled, pouting at the Nele on her shoulder. “You are too beautiful for your own good. I’m going to punish Khan so hard the next time we are alone.”

“You want to make me jealous!” Jenna happily gasped, leaving Liiza’s shoulder to face her. “What should I do now? Should I kiss you again?”

“You kissed enough people for today,” Liiza scolded, wanting to push Jenna away but ending up taking her hands. “Truly, thank you, sister.”

Jenna didn’t expect that burst of honesty, and her head instinctively leaned forward, only for a cold hand to land on her face to stop it.

“Khan was more permissive than you,” Jenna teasingly complained, stepping back to escape Liiza’s grasp.

“Tamara gets to sleep with us because she is a cute kid,” Liiza warned. “I’m not allowing any big-chested woman in our bed.”

“Can I at least watch?” Jenna asked as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Liiza opened her mouth but promptly closed it, diverting her gaze. Still, she suddenly realized what she was considering and refused Jenna with a resounding “No”.

“I guess I won’t get to deal with my urges anymore,” Jenna sighed. “I was looking forward to it.”

“Khan told me your species has it hard but has different customs,” Liiza announced, following Jenna with her eyes while she began to stroll through the dining area. “But I have also seen how you looked at Ilman.”

“[Ilman],” Jenna muttered, trying to muster her best pronunciation of that name. “He is an interesting man. A good-looking one, too.”

Liiza was stronger than Jenna, and the same went for her senses. The Nele were used to mask their real feelings, but Jenna’s interest didn’t escape Liiza’s glowing gaze.

“I saw how he looked at you, too,” Liiza announced. “Your stories are similar. You both sacrificed what you wanted to make your loved one happy.”

Jenna halted her steps and glanced at the source of the white light. She tried to hide it, but her curiosity was evident to Liiza.

“He has loved me for most of his life,” Liiza explained. “Even after Khan left, he kept telling me that I should wait for him. He didn’t care how he felt. He only cared about making me happy.”

Jenna lowered her gaze before diverting it. Needless to say, the similarities were undeniable, but there was something else. Jenna would have never expected that loud, earnest alien to hide so much suffering.

The revelation brought a deeper curiosity and something else, something Jenna had only experienced with Khan. The desire to deliver comfort was strong in her, but she wasn’t the same girl from so long ago, either.

“The Nele would do anything for love,” Jenna explained, “Even betraying their own species. I offered that to Khan back then, but now …”

Jenna shook her head. Finding the one wasn’t something she could plan, but she could try to avoid it for the greater good of her species. The years on Milia 222 after Khan’s departure had been hectic, and the news of a livable planet promised to bring even more duties.

Yet, Jenna found herself unable to remain in her pensive state since a laugh reached her ears. She looked at Liiza, only to find her covering her mouth, trying to hold back her voice.

“I can’t believe it,” Liiza said, still laughing. “I gave Khan a similar warning ten years ago.”

Liiza didn’t know why, but the laughs wouldn’t stop. Yet, Jenna was still looking at her, so she felt she owed her some explanation.

“I told Khan that humans don’t love like Niqols,” Liiza explained. “I meant it to scare him away or as a warning to myself, but do you know what he said?”

“What did he say?” Jenna asked.

“I’ll learn to love like a Niqols,” Liiza scoffed, imitating Khan’s serious tone from back then. “That stupid man. I would have thought he only wanted to get between my legs if I didn’t know how stupid he was.”

Liiza crossed her arms, diverting her gaze before continuing. “Then he prevented a genocide, so I spread my legs myself. Well, I had planned to do that for days. That honesty of his was killing me.”

A light blush ran over Liiza’s cheeks when she realized she had overshared. She cleared her throat, feigning ignorance while going back to the main topic.

“What I wanted to say was,” Liiza awkwardly said, “Ilman isn’t the kind of Niqols that would make you betray your species for him. He’d rather do the opposite.”

Liiza stepped forward, reaching Jenna and taking her hands again before showing a chilling smile. “Though I owe him. So, if you break his heart, I’ll break you, okay?”
