Chapter 129: Dancing In The Rain
Kenny
I glanced up at the dark clouds, feeling extremely skeptical. “Are you sure about this?” I asked as I glanced over at Jason who nodded with a broad grin. He was already standing under the grey clouds, unlike me who was still standing beneath the low roof from the coffee shop we had just exited about a minute ago.
“It’s gonna be fun. We can consider this as exercising.” He urged just as Rory stepped out of the shop. He took one look at the dark clouds and grimaced.
“It’s about to rain, guys. Should we call an Uber?” He asked and I was instantly on board, because that’s the only rational thing to do right now, but of course Jason refused.
“C’mon guys, the house isn’t far at all. It’s fun to walk sometimes.” He urged and that was how we ended up reluctantly agreeing.
“What if it starts to rain?” I asked and Jason rolled his eyes.
“It’s just rain, Kenny. It’s fun to play in the rain, have you tried it before?” He asked and I narrowed my eyes before shoving him.
“We’re not kids, Jason. Which adults still play around in the rain?” I demanded and Jason only snorted.
“That doesn’t have any age limit. Let yourself live some more, darling Kenny.” He said and I felt my heart do a little flip in my chest as I glanced away from him. He was right though, even if I hated to admit it.
I don’t let myself live enough. I’ve never played in the rain before, not willingly anyway. Except that one time my bullies locked me outside and tied me up under a heavy rainfall.
As soon as a raindrop fell over my nose, I frowned and turned towards Jason whose face was facing the sky.
“I can feel you frowning.” He drawled and I shoved him at his side.
“See? It’s really starting to rain. Our cloths would get soaked and our hair and…” I was still speaking when Rory spinned around me, his hand gripping mine as he bounded while laughing happily.
“It’s fun, Kenny! See?” He urged and I went to keep frowning and complaining. The rain was gradually increasing and I could feel my clothes grow wetter and wetter, but Rory only seemed to be growing happier as the minutes wore on and I found myself letting myself get lulled away by his presence and that of Jason.
The rain grew heavier, and I found myself laughing and jumping around with them. We were attracting weird glances from people rushing to different destinations but I didn’t care. Or I cared but not right now at least.
At one point, I gave Rory a spin on my back and when Jason insisted I give him one, I tried lifting him on my back but we both ended up falling, and that made us laugh even harder. I refused to believe that I couldn’t lift him because I wasn’t that weak, and so I tried again and again. The floor was wet and slippery and I kept using that as an excuse till successfully lifted him and walked for about a minute h before I got tired. When he carried me on his back, he spinned me around so much that I screamed till I got dizzy and I almost lost my footing when he set me down.
I let out a long exhale as the rain reduced to a drizzle. After about an hour of letting go and playing like kids that had no shame, we wryd finally returning home, and Jason had Rory on his back. I patted Rory’s back and stroked his hair out of his face. He grinned at me, his eyelashes wet and his face flushed. He was so pretty even with his hair glued to his forehead and cheeks. I leaned closer and kissed his nose and then I pulled away. We resumed walking after that and at one point, I wrapped my hand around Jason’s wrist. Jason glanced at me for a moment and smiled at me, the kind of smile that made his dark eyes light up beautifully. It light up my entire body and made me feel hot on the inside even though my clothes are very cold and wet right now
As soon as we got home, we headed straight to the bedroom and undressed, heading straight into the bathroom for a shower. We were together right now in the shower. The shower was large and wide and it contained us effortlessly. As I soaped my hair up, Rory soaped up my body. His warm body was pressed against mine as he spoke, peering up at me.
“So did you enjoy the time we spent under the rain?” He asked and I wanted to instantly deny it, mainly because I could already imagine Jason’s smug expression when he’d decide to wag his brows at me. But I ended up nodding as my hands loosely rubbed against his waist.
“Yeah. I did. Surprisingly.” I ended up responding and he grinned. “I used to go play in the rain a lot while growing up. It took me back to when I was a child.”
“I wouldn’t recommend that for anyone because right now, I feel cold on the inside, but it has definitely felt good. It was fun. I enjoyed it.”
“See why you should listen to me some more?” Jason drawled from the side as he stepped forward and held the shower head over my face and I laughed as the water poured over myself and Rory.
“Fine. You’re right.” I ended up admitting and he wagged his brows as he inched closer. Rory shoved him before he could do anything.
“We’re not starting anything. The kids are arriving soon, remember?” Rory informed him, eyes narrowed and Jason sighed like not doing anything would physically hurt him.
“Fine.” Jason finally muttered and I snorted, because in the next moment, he was trying to sneak another kiss again.
Jason was insufferable.
