Chapter 160: Pure Heart
Rory
It was extremely warm in my dream. Everywhere strongly smelt of flowers and a veet beautiful fragrance, one which I desperately inhaled and unconsciously tried to follow. That was exact how I came back to consciousness and I gashed as I shit to a sitting position: I had briefly forgotten where I was at till the color of my skin caught my eye along with the dessert looking place which I fell asleep at last night.
I let out a long sigh and dragged a hand over my face, and then I silently wondered if this was gonna be my new routine now. Sleeping and waking up here with no sense of direction and with nothing to show for it. A dejected feeling settled my chest and I exhaled slowly as I dragged my hand over my face again. When I began to rise to my feet, something caught my eyes and I gasped at the sight of the old woman I began to travel with yesterday. I had kind of forgotten about her till this very moment.
I remembered staying awake and determined to look over her throughout the night but I had ended up falling asleep. I stared at the woman’s face which was really aged up. She reminded me of grandma Nini, and just like grandma Nini, she definitely shouldn’t be out here stressing herself. She should be in where she’d be resting instead of stressing here like she’s currently doing.
The day has already broken and I really don’t want to waste any time unnecessarily. I want us to find her grand daughter as fast as possible then I’d be able to finally be on my way. I leaned towards her tentatively as I gently shook her shoulder, softly calling out her name to avoid startling her while trying to wake her up right now. But she didn’t budge and I frowned as I leaned forward, increasing the power in my shakes as a little bit once again, she didn’t move. My frown instantly began to deepen and I leaned over her, shaking her and calling out to her again. Once again, I got nothing.
At this point; I was starting to panic. She wasn’t waking up and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do in this situation. I held my fingers over her nose to find out if she’s breathing and after a few seconds of getting nothing, I gasped and reared backward so fast that I fell over my ass, my eyes blown wide in panic and shock as I stared at her unmoving body.
Was she… dead??
Panic pulsed within me so thick that I struggled to breathe as I crawled towards her this time and tried to find a pulse in her throat and arms. I ended up getting nothing and I panicked again, my mouth falling open in panic and confusion. Was she dead? And why? How?
If she’s dead, what about her granddaughter?? I don’t even know what she looks like so I can’t claim to want to help search for her. I was still leaned over the old woman, panic still raw within my chest and I crouched over her face, staring down at her and trying to figure out if there’s an exact reason she died overnight. Sadness welled oh my heart because stw didn’t deserve to die this way at all. She was such a sweetheart and I felt angry at her family members who I was even yet to meet. They were the reason she died in her sleep and also the reason why her granddaughter is still missing.
I was still leaning over and staring right into the grandma’s face that I didn’t see it coming or happening in any way. One moment, nothing happened, but in the very next moment, the grandmother’s eyes suddenly flew open, and this time they were bright blue, unlike the mild brown that I was used to since the moment I crossed paths with her. I gasped in utter shock and disbelief just as her mouth parted to release a whoosh of breath that was blue as well.
I staggered to my feet and then fell to my ass, mouth hanging open and eyes unable to close because right before my eyes, the grandma got surrounded by a bolt of blue light. Her body was lax and unmoving as it got lifted in the air and I remained unmoving, watching as the grandma’s body fully engulfed by the bright blue light till her body was completely coveted by the light. In the very next moment, the light shattered, suddenly filling everywhere and spreading out. The lights curled over the trees and dragged offer the Đãvìđt ground, on and on, till they all returned back to the old women’s body and slinked back around it. As the light slowly began to melt away from the grendm’s body, I stared with disbelief as she turned into a different person right before my eyes.
My mouth remained open as I watched her transform from the frail old woman into a- a young, beautiful woman that had flowing blue hair that dragged over the ground like a waterfall. The woman’s eyes were bright blue and her skin was pale, a beautiful dress was over her body and it went all the way to her legs, and as my eyes zeroed in over her head, a gasp caught in my throat at the sight of the crown on her head. The very elegant crown.
At once, the knowing, pressing feeling that had been absently lingering at the background of my mind was suddenly in the frown with a feeling of desperation and i gasped again, watching as the woman held her hands out and bolte of lighting shot through her fingers to spread out like a fire, and as those balls crossed every Inch of the world we were currently in, right before my eyes, the desert looking place slowly began to transform.
It went from the desert to a very glamorous palace- the exact thing I expected to meet when I crossed that gate and not what I was met with. But this was way bigger and better than my imagination.
When I glanced back at the woman, she floating in the air and had a very pleased expression across her face as she gazed down at me.
“Rise, child.”
I felt too frozen to move and too shocked to dare speak. In the next minute, a single word escaped my clogged throat.
“Queenmother.”
~~~
To say that I was shocked that the old woman who I abandoned my quest to help was the Queen mother this whole time would be an understatement. To think that all of that had been nothing but a test was more maddening. It made me feel chilled to the core because I realized that If I had chosen to be a little selfish at the face of that test, then I’d have instantly failed the test.
At this point, we were in the palace, in a room that was so exquite and glamorous, it felt like my presence was soiling the place up.
“Tell me what you desire, child. You’ve earned the opportunity to be allowed in my presence. You proved that your heart was pure without realizing it, and I feel happy because this means not everyone here is as corrupted as it always seems.
After she gave me permission to speak, I went ahead to slowly explain the reason why I was here right now and the exact thing I wanted. Once I was done, the Queen mother didn’t look that happy.
“You want to leave for earth? I was just rejoicing that there’s someone as pure hearted as yourself down here.” She was pouting a little and I almost laughed.
“I’ll never fit in here. This place isn’t for me even though it looks beyond perfect and beautiful, I still want to return back to earth. Please.”
The queen mother remained in thoughts for about a few minutes before she finally huffed and nodded very reluctantly.
“I’m going to grant you this desire of yours, bacause you deserve and have earned it, along with the fact that I can feel how badly you want this, even though you don’t use to have the best life at the beginning of your life on that earth.” She continued and an immense amount happiness engulfed me at her words.
After that, she flicked her wrist and right before me, a large circle appeared in the air and after she chanted something, the air whooshed and Alex showed in the middle. He was wreaking havoc in a company and all the guns being shot at him didn’t affect him, like he was basically indestructible- all thanks to my blood, and at once, immense anger engulfed my soul.
“As a gift for having a good heart, here’s a gift. It’s to help you kill this alpha that killed you by taking your blood.”
She held a hand out and a jagged knife with a crystal handle and appeared in the very next moment.
