Chapter 180: boys day out
Rory
Ace and I are currently walking down a crosswalk, we were heading to a mall because I want to get him stocked up on clothes. I had a lot of money and spending it on people I like makes me feel very good and satisfied on the inside.
“So, what do you plan to do now? You’ll be staying here permanently, yes?” I asked and he hummed as he kicked a stone while we were still walking.
“Yes, that’s pretty much what I’m gonna do. I mean, it’s not like I have a lot of options.”
“You could go study if you want.” I offered and he shot me a startled look, eyes wide open.
“What?” He blurted out and I shrugged lazily.
“Do you want to?”
He laughed a little as he pushed his hair out of his face. “I mean, that would be pretty sick, but it’s not like I have the money for that. Heck, I can’t even afford a place to stay by myself.” As he spoke, he hunched his shoulder and I felt my chest squeeze tightly a little.
“I’ll help you through school. I told you I’ve now taken you under my wings, didn’t I?”
His eyes widened and he regarded me like I suddenly have two heads.
“But-” he began but I clicked my tongue a little.
“There’s no refusing this. I’ve made up my mind.”
We fell into a little comfortable silence after that, one which he broke after a few minutes.
“I appreciate all that you’re willing to do for me, but I’ll have to reject it.” Before I could speak; he rushed to continue.
“No, for real. Thank you for all of this, this is the sweetest and kindest someone has ever done for me in my entire life, you saved my life, wanting to get me clothes and all, but I cannot accept more help. That’s just gonna be selfish of me,”
I shook my head as I placed a hand on him. “But it’s really no biggie.” I uttered not he shook hid head again.
“I know it isn’t, but I’m still gonna have to refuse it. You’ve done enough for me so far.” He breathed out, offering me a really grateful smile.
We were in a large clothing store when we resumed speaking.
“So, what are you gonna be doing now? Since school is out of the question and all.” I questioned and he grinned.
“I’m gonna be working, duh.” He responded and I grinned back.
“Yes?”
He nodded. “Yes.” He held out a shirt and grimaced before putting it down and moving to another one. “I already have a list of cafes and supermarkets that I’m gonna apply in at the end of the week. It’s not gonna be much but at least I’ll be able to make some money for myself,” he breathed out and after a few moments, I perked up.
“Why don’t you come work for me?”
His eyes brightened at once. “Really? You have some sort of store??” He asked and I nodded eagerly and went in to give him a brief rundown of some of the stores I owned. Once I was done, he was frowning.
“Wait, would I be earning honestly there or are you just gonna be showering me with bonuses and promotions? Cause that’s gonna be unfair to the other workers.” He muttered and I shook my head even though that was exactly what I had in mind, but clearly that wasn’t gonna be able to work. It’s clear that Ace is an honest person with a kind and pure heart, which is exactly why I do want to keep protecting him.

“I’m so happy things just seem to be falling into placed for me. This is more than I imagined and more than I could have ever imagined.” He breathed out as we made our way back to the car with boxes of his new clothes. He was all smiles that made him appear very pretty. I wasn’t lying when I said he looked pretty after crying, because he’s just so gorgeous with his cute eyes.
Once we were in the car again, I suggested we stopped at a diner to have lunch together which he instantly agreed to.
At the store as we are, we began to talk about a lot of random things again. It honestly felt like we’ve been friends since forever, we never run out of something to talk about, and he was such a yapper, which is exactly what I like because I was more of a listener.
“You said you didn’t like women, yes? So… man, huh?” I wagged my brows at him and he dissolved into laughter so loud, we had to apologize to a few people who threw us sour looks.

“Well, yes. Alphas to be specific,” he sighed out and I instantly perked up, leaning forward while holding back a grin.
“Alphas, huh?”
“Yes. They’re just so perfect and all, like.,,, and I know a few old fashioned people might judge me or think it’s weird but fortunately I don’t care.” He continued and I literally couldn’t agree with him.
“How’s Malik?” I asked after a few moments and he huffed and rolled his eyes.
“He’s probably at work or something.” He responded and I hummed while sipping on my drink.
“So, you two are getting along well, yes?”
“We argue a lot.” He responded with an eyeroll.
“Why?” I inquired and Ace happily launched a very detailed explanation of how and why Malik was the worst person to ever walk the earth. But all that I could pick up from the whole explanation didn’t seem like hate to me any longer.
“Once I start working, I plan to be paying him for studying there, like a rent.” He revealed and I narrowef my eyes.
“Wait, did he ask this of you?!”
He laughed this time. “Of course not, but I already told him it’s what I’m gonna do. He did refuse and literally had the audacity to tell me he’d spank me if I dare bring some lousy rent to him. Like, he’s so annoying and so… ugh,” he gritted out and I chuckled a little.
“Oh wow… that’s definitely a discovery.” I noted.
“How much does he threaten to spank you?” I asked after about a minute.
“Multiple times a day. He sees me like a child, treats me like one, and talks to me like one. But I’m an adult. It’s not my fault he’s like seven years older than me.” He grumbled and I leaned forward.
“Honey, I don’t think he sees you as a child. I think he’s attracted to you, and I think you’re attracted to him too.” After those words left my mouth, Ace let out a gasp like I said the most outrageous thing ever.
“Oh my god, what?” He whispered, but I didn’t miss the faint blush across his cheeks, which made me snicker as I reached for my drink to take a small sip
“It’s the truth: it sounds like you like him very much, like you’re obsessed with the attention he showers you with,” I continued and he spluttered, color still in his cheeks.
“Absolutely not! Stop saying nonsense.” He cried out but I only barked out a laugh.
“It’s the truth, admit it,”
He shook his head and almost got to his feet. “You’re very wrong and there’s nothing to admit!” He argued bit I was very certain he himself didn’t believe what he just said.
“If you really hate him like you claim, instead of planning to pay him rent, you’d have said you’d move out from his house.” I pointed out and realization dawned on him, then he began to splutter again.
“That’s- that’s cause he said he didn’t want me to leave!” He argued but that didn’t help his case in any way.
“And that’s solely why you’re staying? And not because you might have a crush on him?”
He shook his head firmly this time and picked up his drink to down it in a go.
“I definitely do not have a crush on Malik. He’s the last person I’ll ever get attracted to.”
“Are you sure?”
He nodded fast. “Of course I am. One hundred percent. He might be an alpha and he might be my type, from his stupidly handsome face, to the way he smiles and smells, to the way he’s built, and his height, and those large, strong hands, and all of that—- but that’s where it ends! Once he opens his mouth, that’s the end, he instantly becomes unattractive. He’s so uncouth and rude and has no idea of what personal space means. He gets on my nerves a lot, and I really do hate him.” He was breathing hard once he was done, and I was too stunned to speak at first, because my mind was on the first part of that sentence, the way he described all of Malik’s features.
He probably hadn’t realized it yet, but he was so gone.
