Chapter 30: Trevor
Rory
I stumbled backwards in shock just as large hands grabbed my shoulders and steadied me before I could collide with the door of my bedroom which I just exited moments ago.
When I glanced up, I found myself staring into coffee brown eyes in a chiseled face.
I blinked in confusion, struggling for what to say just as Rays appeared from the doorway of the passage. She bounced forward and stopped beside the man who I had practically walked into and gripped his arm, shaking it a little as she spoke.
“Honey, you’ve met Rory already!” She cried out and I blinked in confusion again before it clicked.
This is Trevor. Raya’s husband and mate!
Oh my god.
I hurriedly bowed my head as color rushed into my face.
“Hello, sir. I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize it was you. Please pardon me!” I spoke at a fast pace while my heart hammered against my ribs.
If I had known this was Raya’s mate, I’d have greeted him at once. I had been nervous before his arrival because I didn’t want a situation whereby he wouldn’t like me and would want to kick me out at once. Should that happen, then it means I’d be automatically doomed. Even though Raya had reassured me that he wouldn’t mind me staying here, I still needed to be sure.
“Oh, no! Please rise. I didn’t realize you were the omega Raya talked my head off about. Please, rise.” He urged without wasting any time and I tentatively rose to my full height once again.
“Thank you so much, sir. I promise to not cause your family any problems. I’ll also be out of your hair as fast as possible. I promise to repay all your kindness as best as I can.” I continued, hands clasped in front of me to convey my gratitude across.
The man waved me off, appearing almost embarrassed and Raya giggled beside him.
“It’s alright, I promise. You’re welcome to stay as long as you need. Since my mate and daughter are completely smitten with you, then that’s all that matters to me.” He breathed out with a smile at the corner of his lips.
“Thank you sir.” I added again and he grimaced this time.
“While at it, can you please drop the ‘sirs?’, I promise I’m not as old as I look.” As he spoke, his grin widened and I chuckled along with him and Raya.
True to his words, he didn’t look old. If there’s a word most suitable to describe him, then it’s the word ‘attractive.’ I guess it makes sense, that’s undoubtedly where their daughter got her good looks from.
“Dinner is already set, that’s what I came to tell you guys. Do hurry!” Raya called out as she walked off to the kitchen, leaving me along with her husband.
I instantly felt awkward now that we were alone. It seemed like her husband was in the same predicament as me because he awkwardly cleared his throat before offering me another small smile.
“I guess I’ll see you at dinner then.” He offered and I nodded vigorously.
“Yeah.” I whispered quietly, bowing again as he finally walked, leaving me to myself.
I leaned against the door of my bedroom and let out a long breath.
“You’ve met the alpha. He’s alright with you staying here. You’re okay.” I whispered the words underneath my breath as I wrapped my arm around my stomach.
“Things are only gonna keep getting better for you and I, okay?” I continued quietly, speaking to my baby.
After a few more minutes, I finally decided to go join the family for dinner.

The days passed by in a blur.
I grew impossibly closer to Raya. She was so pure hearted that I sometimes feel undeserving of the amount of help she had showered on me in just two weeks.
We did almost everything now. She dragged me along with her when going out as well, be it groceries shopping or walking the pet, and I appreciated that because it helped me get familiar with the neighborhood.
Trevor, Raya’s mate and husband, believed we were long lost besties and he wasn’t wrong in any way. We were so close that it was almost hard to believe that we haven’t known each other throughout our lives.

My life was currently almost too good to be true. Sometimes I sit and contemplate on that with my hands rubbing my stomach. I keep asking if this wasn’t gonna suddenly go up in flames one day, because it still felt too good to be true.
My babysitting job had blossomed so much that I even had to start declining some jobs. It had fetched me way money that I managed to make in a way when working back in my pack, which made me feel immense regret over not realizing my potential sooner.
I was currently trying to pick some spiderwebs at the corners of the ceiling here in the sitting room. Since I arrived, I have tried to do a fair amount of chores because that was the only right thing to do.
Which is why I’m currently gripping the window seal and rising on my tippy toes, struggling to properly reach the roof so I could clean away the spider webs which had gathered there.
I was still struggling when a hand suddenly appeared in my line of sight, right before I felt someone behind me, close but not touching.
It took me about two seconds to realize who it was and I stiffened at once, hands frozen in place.
It was Trevor. Raya’s mate.
My shock only heightened when the broom got retrieved from me by him.
He chuckled easily like he usually does, soft rumbles filling the atmosphere.
“Let me get that for you.” He spoke as he proceeded to effortlessly reach the roof with the broom, because he was way taller than I am.
Because of my frozen state, I failed to close my eyes, which was why a particle of paint fell right into my left eyes, causing me to cry out as I slapped my palm over my eyes.
