Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 116
Chapter 116: I’m Rich?
Alden looked at the storage ring in his hand; a smirk was present on his lips.
Scamming people is way too easy… I should definitely do this more often.
With that satisfying thought, he finally checked the time—4 AM.
If he took a teleportation portal, he could still make it to class tomorrow.
But did he want to?
Why the hell would I want that?
Skipping class meant paying a fine, but at this point?
Sleep was worth more than anything.
He adjusted his mask.
He carefully made his way through the dark alleys before appearing onto the main streets.
Only after seeing no one was around him, did he remove the disguise.
He walked toward a grand hotel.
After all, he was rich now. And rich people didn’t suffer. They slept in luxury.
__
Alden stepped into the grand hotel lobby. The lobby screamed luxury. And tonight, he belonged here.
He walked up to the receptionist.
A neatly-dressed man was standing there. He didn’t even show any emotions about his late arrival.
“I need a room,” Alden said.
He pulled out a platinum coin before placing it on the counter.
The receptionist’s expression changed immediately. His previous lazy eyes now held respect, and his face had a polite smile.
“Of course, sir.” The receptionist’s tone was polite. “We have several premium suites available—”
“I’ll take the best one you have.” Alden responded plainly.
The man nodded. He took the coin on the table as he gave Alden a golden keycard.
“It’s a penthouse suite on the top floor.”
“Enjoy your stay, Sir.”
Alden took the key and stepped into the elevator, watching the lift go up.
In less than a minute, the door opened with a soft sound, revealing the top floor—65th.
The moment he walked out of the elevator, he saw a vast open terrace.
The view was breathtaking.
He could see the city clearly. Its streets were alive even so late.

But Alden didn’t care about the scenery. He was far too tired to care about it for now.
In front of him was the only penthouse on the floor. He entered swiftly, shutting the door behind him.
The penthouse was very luxurious. And at the centre of it all was a massive, grand bed. It was large enough to fit ten people with ease.
Without any hesitation, he jumped onto it.
The moment his head hit the soft mattress of the bed, his mind couldn’t stay awake any longer as he fell asleep.
—
In the same hotel lobby, two figures arrived at the reception desk.
Lucien and Seles.
Their expressions were dark.
Especially Seles.
She barely controlled her urge to curse. Her mind was racing, thinking about what had just happened.
Lucien, however, didn’t bother to care about her internal struggle.
“Seles, why didn’t you let me fight that guy?” His voice was low. “He was just in the same rank as us.”
His frustration was clear.
Seles took a deep breath.
Breathe.
Control yourself, Seles.
You can’t curse this dumb fker.
You need him.
FK him.
She had already cursed Lucien hundreds of times.
How dumb did a person have to be to be this clueless?
She was very close to shattering the innocent image she had created in front of him.
But she controlled herself.
“Lucien, please,” she said, “I really don’t want to talk about it.”
Her voice was calm.
Too calm.
Her mind, however, was in turmoil.
She had been played with.
Every instinct and every calculation of hers was wrong.
At first, she had been too overwhelmed to think clearly.
The sudden teleportation, the unfamiliar location, and the supposed powerhouse before her had thrown her off.
But now, her clarity has returned.
The cracks in the story were obvious.
Too obvious to ignore.
That man had never attacked them.
Never pressured them.
More importantly, he never proved his strength in any way beyond nullifying her magic.
And that was the first clue.
Her spell—her strongest—had vanished the moment it touched him.
But what if… it wasn’t due to overwhelming power?
What if it was purely because of an artifact?
The way he spoke, the way he played along when she called him ‘Senior’… it was too smooth.
Too convenient.
And then there was the worst realisation of all.
The teleportation.
Her mind rewound to the moment it happened.
Who had the ability to move them out of the Black Market so cleanly?
Someone who could bypass defensive formations, avoid detection, and act with absolute precision?
There was only one person she knew with that level of mastery over shadows in the whole empire.
Her father.
Alaric Draven.
The reason she hadn’t understood it at the time was because she was too overwhelmed.
But now that she thinks about it again, the way the shadows moved and the unmistakable cold voice.
It was definitely father.
Which meant…
The man they attacked wasn’t sent by some unknown enemy.
He was just some random guy who got caught up in teleportation. And she had handed over her money to him.
Seles’ entire body shivered with rage.
She didn’t care about the money.
But her pride?
That was a different case.
She was so confident and sure of herself and yet she fell for such an obvious trick.
It was laughable.
“Seles? Are you okay?” Lucien asked in a concerned voice, seeing her shiver.
‘…Nothing. I’m fine.” Her voice was light.
Lucien didn’t notice it through his ‘simp eyes’, but the receptionist at the desk did.
The receptionist shivered at the faint killing intent leaking from her.
She had been scammed.
And she was definitely not going to let this go.
I’m going to find that guy.
And once I do,
I’m definitely going to kill him with my own hands.
_
They quickly checked in, as they booked two rooms for themselves.
As they walked towards their room.
Seles’s mind wandered back towards the incident at the black market again.
The information about eggs was just bait.
It was probably the imperial family who had set up that plan, and that was also the reason she was caught up in it.
Most of the items presented in the auction were authentic. So when she got the information about the egg, she had thought it was true.
She had even done thorough research about it, and nothing out of the ordinary came out.
It was a trap.
A perfect trap.
They had fooled their own people to lure out an enemy.
A smart plan.
But who was the target?
It was definitely not someone ordinary, as Father was there.
Something is going on in the capital.
I need to expand my information network quickly.
It’s not enough anymore.
Only if I could somehow recruit that woman.
Cipher.
She had heard about the beastkin, who was the best information broker in the whole market.
Seles had been trying to recruit Cipher into an information agency she had created recently.
But that b*tch has been playing hard to get.
Well, it doesn’t matter.
Sooner or later, I’ll have her weakness in my hands.
And once I do, she won’t have any choice but to follow my commands.
Seles clenched her fists.
This time, she wouldn’t make the same mistake.
This time, she wouldn’t be fooled.
