Chapter 119: Spirit Pearl Transformation?
After the exhausting training, Alden decided to take a break.
His whole body was at its limit.
He exited the training room and made his way to shower.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, he sat down on his bed.
He had something to do before sleeping.
He pulled out a file.
It was the file that Cipher had given him. It included the details he had asked for about the scammer.
Cipher had told him that she didn’t dig deep and only did a surface-level job.
It was his choice to do so, because if he had asked her to dig deep, he might’ve alerted the noble behind those scammers.
He opened the file, as the information was neatly presented inside.

[Overview]
This is only surface-level digging. If you want solid proof, I’ll need to go deeper, which comes with risks—and a higher price. Your call.

Alden scanned the neatly arranged report calmly.
He found one point suspicious.
Why hasn’t the body been found?
Although Alden had killed them within an alley, it was not that difficult to find for people who always lurked there. And still their bodies have not been found.
Has the Draven family taken any action, perhaps?
Perhaps Alaric had interfered himself?
It was very easy to track the death of that scammer to Alden.
Although there were no cameras inside the alleys.
At least some of them on the main street might’ve caught him following the scammer.
No one else would have tried to dig about their deaths, but Cipher was different.
He had paid her for information, and she would’ve easily found out about his involvement.
But there was no mention of his name within the report, suggesting that someone had erased his traces.
He was sure that except for Alaric, nobody in the family would bother to shield him.
It was not because he believed Alaric loved him or anything.
Nope.
Alden had no delusions about that.
That man loved the reputation of his family, and he probably couldn’t let it be sullied by a bastard like me.
Yep, definitely that is the case.
And just as Alden suspected, Alaric had done more than just cover up his tracks.
He had wiped out the entire organisation connected to Malrik.
Eliminated the noble from the Draven branch who had supported the trade.
At first, Alaric had only planned to bury Alden’s involvement.
But when he discovered a Draven noble was tied to the trade, he acted decisively.
In a single day, he wiped them all out.
Alden exhaled, gripping the file tighter.

Alden put the file back into the storage ring.
He was sure if Malrick was indeed connected to the Draven family, he wouldn’t have any direct troubles.
There might be a few indirect ones, though.
Another problem for the future me.
Thinking such, he lay down on his bed. It was already night time, and he had classes to attend tomorrow.

The next morning.
As usual, Alden woke up early and quickly followed his morning routine.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, he cooked himself a nice breakfast, enjoying the peaceful start to his day.
Once finished, his eyes fell on the Spirit Pearl.
He picked it up and channelled mana into it.
He didn’t expect any reaction from it today either.
But something completely unexpected happened. For the first time, it reacted to Alden’s mana.
The spirit pearl’s golden colour started to vanish slowly, replaced by a new colour.
The process stopped until it finally turned pitch black.
Just when Alden thought it was over.
Something new started to happen. Some green traces started appearing on it.
They looked both mystical and ancient. A faint pulsing sound came out of it, which stopped as soon as the process was over.
What the hell?
Why has it changed colour?
Its size had also increased a bit.
Alden could feel a deep connection with the pearl.
Alden turned the pearl over in his hands.
It felt different—heavier, warmer and alive.
He tried to put it inside his storage ring.
But nothing happened.
Until now there was no problem in doing that, but for some reason he couldn’t do it now.
He immediately understood what was wrong.
Living things cannot be placed inside storage rings.
A life has started to form inside the spirit pearl.
Alden felt excited.
He carefully put the spirit pearl inside his pocket.
He couldn’t afford to leave it alone inside his room.
His room was safe, and no one else could enter it except him. But he still didn’t wish to take any risk.
The Spirit Pearl had grown in size but it was still small enough to fit inside his pocket with ease.
Something told him its transformation was only the beginning.
