Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: The Duel(1) Chapter 32: The Duel(1) Inside a large training ground, Alden was swinging his sword with precision, each movement fluid and steady.
He wasn’t just randomly swinging; he was following specific energy circulation methods as his momentum kept increasing with each successive strike.
Just as he swung his sword for the 20th time, his hand went numb as the sword slipped through his hand and hit the ground, or that should have happened.
But before the sword could even hit the ground, it reappeared in his hands.
Although the sword looked ordinary, it was the Sword of Chaos, which Alden had transformed to look like a normal sword.
He didn’t want to arouse his family’s suspicion by using it in its original form.
He was currently training his Eternal Flow Sword Art, and it was even harder than he had thought previously.
The energy circulation part was very complicated, and even now he struggles to maintain it consistently.
But it was still better than when he had first started.
“I still can’t go beyond the twentieth move,” he muttered in frustration.
The sword art increased his speed and power with each successive strike, but it also put a lot of strain on his body.
Every time he tried to go beyond the twentieth move, his hands would go numb.
“It is finally tomorrow,” Alden whispered, wiping sweat from his face as he thought about his duel tomorrow.
He knew Cedric would go to any extent to cripple or even kill him.
But he wasn’t just going to stand around and do nothing.
The duel was a chance to settle old scores with Cedric.
Memories of being bullied and beaten flooded his mind, but instead of anger, a chilling smile crept across his face.
After a brief rest, Alden resumed his training, determination etched into every movement.
Gripping his sword tightly, he started swinging it again, and he soon reached the twentieth move again.
His hand had become numb, and he was feeling a lot of strain on his muscle.
But instead of giving up, he pushed through it…
as he lifted his sword again to swing one more time.
This time he just didn’t swing the sword normally but activated the other two techniques of sword art as well.
With a deep breath, he channelled more mana into his sword as it started to glow in an ominous red colour, indicating activation of Eternal Surge.
Not just stopping there, he vibrated the blade with mana, activating Phantom Slash.
The air distorted as three ghostly illusions of his sword formed, each striking from different angles.
Blood dripped from his arms due to strain tearing through his muscles.
But Alden still didn’t let go of the sword as he swung it in one fluid movement.
For a moment nothing happened, then a shockwave spread out through his strike, slicing through air smoothly and slamming into the wall with a deafening crash.
“Finally I did it.” Alden spoke with a small smile as he stared at the wide crack on the wall.

He quickly brought out a healing potion from his storage ring as he gulped it without hesitation.
The portion worked its magic as his injuries healed at a rapid pace before vanishing.
This kind of pain didn’t even bother him anymore, as he’d endured far worse before.
Satisfied at the result, Alden left the ground, his mind focused on the duel tomorrow.
His heart thumped with not fear but anticipation.
_____________________ The Next Morning..
Alden woke up in his room as all the soreness from his previous day of training had vanished.
He dragged his body to take a cold shower.
He felt refreshed and awake as soon as the cold droplets of water touched his body.
After taking the shower, he dressed and headed to the dining hall, where his breakfast was already served.
Alice stood near the table; her worry was evident on her face as she kept clenching, unclenching her hands as if wanting to say something.
“It’ll be fine, Alice.” Alden reassured her.
Alice nodded her head slightly, trying to act calm, but he knew nothing he said would ease her worry.
After finishing his meal, he looked at the clock, and seeing there was still some time before his duel, he took out his ManaSync as he casually scrolled through News.
Alden skimmed through the article, seeing many articles on Awakening and Astralis Academy, as this was the most trending topic this time of the year.
Most of them were just absurd rumours without any facts.
But one particular news caught his eye as he quickly opened it to read in detail.
[Who Will Dominate Astralis Academy’s Rankings This Year?] He read the article carefully, seeing ten names in the article.
Most of them being characters Alden knew from the novel.
At the top of the list was the name of a character who had an important role in the early story-Amyra Celestrian.
She was the twin sister of the protagonist, and unlike him, she was referred to as the most talented in the current generation, only followed by Seles.
There was no mention of the protagonist whatsoever in this article, as at this time everyone thought of him just as an unworthy prince.
He only started getting recognition after ranking first in the academy.
“Young Master, it’s time,” Alden heard the soft voice of Alice snapping him out of his thoughts.
Alden nodded as he put his ManaSync in his pocket.
The time for distraction was over; now was the time for action.
_________ Alden soon arrived at the massive stadium as he got out of the car.
He entered the stadium without much delay.
He scanned the inside calmly, looking around.
The seats surrounding the arena where the duel was supposed to happen were packed with a crowd buzzing with anticipation.
Most of them were here to see him fail.
“Best of Luck, Young Master,” Alice spoke as she stopped at the edge of the arena, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Thanks Alice,” Alden replied, his voice calm but resolute.
He stepped into the arena without any hesitation.
At the centre of the arena stood Cedric, his blonde hairs shining due to sunlight.
His stance relaxed with a smirk on his face, as if confident of his victory.
“You actually showed up,huh rat?” Cedric mocked.
“I thought you might run away like the coward you used to be.” “I would love to see your expression, Cedric.” Alden spoke with a chilling smile “When you get beaten by a rat, that is.
Cedric’s face twisted in fury.
“You dare..” he shouted loudly his hands clenched and his body trembling with fury.
