Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: Amyra Celestrian?
Chapter 49: Amyra Celestrian?
I felt my body becoming lightless before I was teleported to the hall where the test had begun.
I looked around, trying to make sense as my mind was still heavy due to the aftereffects of the teleportation.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself.
I saw Zephyr standing calmly in front of me as if he was not even affected by the teleportation.
His golden eyes were steady but no longer glowing; his Dragonic Descent was no longer active.
‘It seems he deactivated his special ability.’ Before I could look around more, I heard a clapping echoing from the centre of the hall.
I quickly turned my head in that direction, finding the Principal of the Academy, Jeremy Voidforge, seated casually clapping his hands as he observed all the students that had just been teleported.
Though his expression was relaxed, I could feel tangible pressure coming from him as his eyes paused on each of the students one by one.
“Congratulations to all who made it,” he said, his voice anything but serious.
The room was silent as he continued.
“Your academy life is going to start from next week; till then, you are free to explore Astria Island as much as you want.” He leaned back on his chair slightly, as if already losing interest.
“You’ll get your class schedule in a day or two on your ManaSync.” Then, with a dismissive wave of his hand, he added, “You’re dismissed.” Just like that.
He got up and turned away, no longer sparing us even a glance.
Some students exhaled in relief as they felt the pressure on them release.
Others exchanged glances as they started talking with each other about their results.
The principal was one heck of a character; he was casual and free-spirited on the outside but ruthless and cold on the inside.
He had probably analysed most of the top students and would probably keep an eye on those that he found interesting.
‘I just hope that I am not one on his radar.’ A sigh released from my mouth… I wanted to find out who Nyx is.
But how?
There are at least a thousand students here.
I turned to leave..
And then I felt it.
Just before leaving, I felt a gaze on me.
It wasn’t just any gaze.
It was sharp, piercing… different.
It felt as if it would drill a hole through me.
I looked in the direction where I felt it from.
And for a brief moment, my thoughts stopped.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
In that direction was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in both of my lives combined.
She was breathtaking.
Not just beautiful….
‘Divine’-only’ this word could describe her beauty.
Her very presence screamed divinity.
Her snow-white hair shimmered with unnatural light even within this closed-off hall.
Her violet eyes were so deep that a person might just drown within.
She was the princess of the empire-Amyra Celestrian.
And she was looking directly at me with a smile.
For a moment all the noise inside the hall faded….I could only see her soft smile as she looked at me.
(Check paragraph comment.) I should have wondered why she was looking at me.
I should have questioned what interest someone like her had in me.
And more importantly, why did a character who had never ever smiled once before her death in the novel smile now?
But I couldn’t think any thoughts as my mind was busy admiring her beauty…I didn’t know why.
I have seen many beautiful girls in my life.
But this?
This felt different.
I just couldn’t snap out of the daze.
Not until I felt someone put a hand on my shoulder; only then did I snap out of it.
I quickly averted my gaze from her as I looked at the owner of the hand.
“It looks like somebody pulled a princess on the first day, huh?” The boy whispered in my ears slightly.
His voice was low but filled with amusement.
I quickly pulled my shoulder in as his hands slipped down from my shoulder.
I looked at him with cold eyes.
“Hey..hey calm down bro…I was just joking.” He chuckled as he waved his hands, gesturing me to take it easy.
“By the way, I’m Aziel Ignaris , and I’m guessing you already know me.” His grin widened.
“After all, I’m the most handsome guy in my family.” I knew who he was; after all, he was from one of the five main families, Ignaris… They mainly specialised in fire magic, but they also had something else they excelled in, and that was making weapons.
And he was the youngest child of their patriarch and was considered talentless in his family.
Aziel wasn’t mentioned much in novel either as he was just a extra character just like me.
His only role was just for the sake of highlighting the importance of his older sister….
although his backstory was a bit tragic.
He was a very extroverted character, a perfect nemesis for someone with a reserved personality like mine.
Aziel was still grinning stupidly, waiting for me to respond to him.
“Never heard of you.” I answered him in an impassive voice as I turned around to look for her again, but she wasn’t there anymore.
I don’t know why, but I felt a weird sense of disappointment not seeing her there.
I looked at Aziel again, seeing his grin turn a bit awkward for a second before he dramatically clutched his chest.
“Ouch.
That hurts, man.
You know you should be a little considerate of others feelings.” I said nothing, just looking at him like he was some kind of idiot.
“Alright, alright.
No need to look at me like that.
I was just trying to be friendly.” Aziel held his hands up in the air in the mocking surrender, his grin returning.
I didn’t respond.
Aziel was persistent…..too persistent.
I didn’t like people who were too chatty, let alone the one ignoring the obvious signs of disinterest.
Was he just naturally like this, or was there something he wanted from me?
“So,” he continued, completely ignoring my gaze.
“You’re Alden Draven, right?
From the main family?” “You know who I am, and yet you’re still talking?” A frown appeared on my face as I couldn’t help but think how he knew about me and why was he even talking to me.
He laughed.
“What?
You expected me to run away or something?” I couldn’t understand…
I was an illegitimate son after all, and I was sure most would avoid me like the plague; at least that’s what happened in the novel.
So what changed it?
“By the way, I saw how you fought Zephyr….
You know, right?
He is considered one of the strongest of our generation.” Aziel spoke in an excited voice, “How are you so strong?” As soon as I heard his words, I immediately understood what changed…
It was strength.
I was many times stronger than Alden was in the novel.
I didn’t respond, but Aziel didn’t seem to care.
“You don’t talk much, do you?” He spoke as he put his hands in his pocket.
I didn’t respond again.
“Man, I thought we’d have some good conversation here, but you’re giving me nothing here.” Aziel sighed dramatically.
“You’re still talking.Huh?” I glanced at him.
“Of course.” He grinned.
“I’m quite persistent after all.” “Yeah I noticed.” I gave him a cold response.
Aziel ignored my blatant mocking as he suddenly put his arm around my shoulder.
I immediately grabbed his wrist and twisted it just enough to make him back off.
“Ok …
ok, relax bro,” he stepped back.
“No touching.
Got it.” I let go of his hand as he shook it like nothing happened.
Then, without a moment of wait, he took his ManaSync out of his pocket.
“Let’s exchange contacts.” “Why?” I asked already feeling a headache coming my way.
“Come on, man.
We’re both going to be in the same academy.
Might as well help each other out.” Aziel scoffed.
This guy doesn’t take a hint, does he?
Most would’ve walked away by now, but he’s still grinning like an idiot.
I should say no.
That would be the easiest thing to do.
But…something about his persistence was almost impressive.
He didn’t seem to care about my status, reputation, or even the usual nonsense.
I sighed as I pulled out my ManaSync, and the two devices beeped as our IDs were exchanged.
“See?
That wasn’t so hard.” He grinned.
“I don’t like small talk.” I warned him.
“Good thing I do enough talking for both of us.” His smirk widened as he responded.
A corner of my mouth twitched before I quickly forced it back into a frown.
I was already regretting giving him my contact.
“Alright, I won’t bother you too much right now.
But we should probably meet up later.” He spoke in a quiet voice.
“For what?” “Exploring Astria Island, what else?
We’ve got a week before classes start, so we might as well check the beauty of the town as well as some beauties within the town.” He responded immediately in chirpy voice.
“I have other things to do.” I frowned.
“Man…don’t be like that; at least think about it.” He spoke in a dramatic voice.
Just as he was talking his ManaSync vibrated “I have somewhere to go…See ya later, Alden.” He looked at the message on it as he turned around to leave.
I watched him go as another sigh released.
Aziel Ignaris.
He was a persistent, annoying, and, most of all, overly friendly guy.
…And yet, I had a feeling I’d be seeing a lot more of him.
