Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Exploring the City (2) Chapter 54: Exploring the City (2) I had wanted a quiet exploration of the city.
Without any annoyance.
But now?
That option was gone.
I looked at Aziel.
I never felt the urge to punch someone’s face more than what I am feeling currently.
Well….
except for Cedric.
Before I could say anything to him, he started walking as if already sure that I was going to follow him.
“Let’s go, then.” “Sorry, but I’d prefer to go alone.” I declined his offer straightforwardly.
I didn’t want to endure his rambling while exploring.
“Don’t be like that man.” He said with an exasperated expression, “Two are better than one.” “I can guide you through the city; I know every nook and cranny of this city.” I narrowed my eyes at him in suspicion.
‘But you are also a newcomer like me.’ I wanted to say that out loud, but I held it in.
Arguing with Aziel was pointless.
I already knew his persistent personality, and I already felt tired of arguing, so I just followed after a resigned sigh.
Aziel grinned, he was clearly happy that I didn’t resist much.
I couldn’t truly understand why he was even trying to be so friendly with me.
Was he trying to be friends genuinely, or did he have some hidden motives?
Well, he was also an outcast like me, so perhaps that was the reason.
But I still couldn’t trust him completely, at least not until I found his motives.
__________ Astria City was divided into three districts.
Each district takes a considerable amount of space.
The Inner District had the main academy campus as well as students and academy staff’s accommodation.
Nobody except students and academy staff was allowed in the inner district.
The middle district was the commercial district, which had all types of stalls and stores, and all the merchants resided in this area.
It was also where the hotel I was residing was situated.
And lastly, the outer district, which had the security staff and administrative staff in charge of maintaining the island city.
All the teleportation gates were situated in the outer district.
Any person entering the city had to enter through the outer district where strict security checks are performed before they are allowed anywhere near the main city.
Usually, except for the staff, merchants, and students, nobody else was allowed to enter this city without prior permission.

Even merchants had to take permits to do business here before being allowed entry.
We were currently making our way to the centre of the middle district, as that’s where the main shops and stalls were.
After walking for a few minutes, we finally arrived in the centre of the district.
The streets were alive with chatter and laughter.
It was as bustling as it was mentioned in the novel.
Many students with the Astria Academy uniform roamed the streets.
Some were trying different delicacies while some were browsing through weapons within the stores.
There were all kinds of stores.
Among the merchants were some non-human species as well.
There was one elven stall that was selling potions of different colours.
The female elf that operated the potion stall looked beautiful and elegant.
A dwarf was negotiating with his customer over a weapon in another shop.
The dwarf had a long beard and short height.
I was dazed for a moment as I took in the sight.
It was the first time I had seen non-human species after all.
Aziel, of course, had no such reservations.
“Are you going to keep staring, or are we actually going somewhere?” He nudged me with his shoulder, snapping me out of my daze.
“Let’s have breakfast first; I know a good place.” Aziel started navigating through the crowd “Follow me” ________ After somehow making it through the crowd, we finally arrived on one street where many small food stalls were lined up.
“This place is famous for its flame-grilled meat.
You’ll love it.” He said, pointing at one of the stalls.
We walked towards the stall as I saw a dwarf operating it.
We quickly placed the order as I pulled out my ManaSync to pay.
But Aziel stopped me.
“It’s my treat.” Well, I wasn’t the type to deny a free meal, so I just let him pay.
He quickly tapped his ManaSync on the device of the stall owner as the ‘Astra’ was paid.
Eryndor had its special currency called ‘Era,’ but it was not accepted in this city.
In this city, no student could use Era, and they could only do transactions in a special academy-issued credit called ‘Astra.’ All students were issued Astra monthly based on their ranking, and they can also earn it by completing academy missions.
I had also received my allotted credits yesterday after the competition was over.
This system was implemented to provide equal chances to every person without relying on their background.
But as always, there were loopholes that rich kids used to bypass this system.
But well, that has nothing to do with me.
After placing the order, we waited for our order to arrive.
The air around the stall was filled with the scent of roasted meat.
Just the smell made my mouth fill with water.
After some minutes of waiting (and enduring Aziel’s constant rambling), our order finally arrived.
I looked at the grilled meat, I hesitated for a moment and then took a bite.
And my mind went blank.
Holy sh*t.
The flavours exploded in my mouth.
This was unlike anything I had tasted before.
Aziel grinned knowingly.
“Told you it’s tasty.” _______ After spending a few more hours exploring the city, I finally decided to head back to my room.
The day had been more chaotic than I expected, and although Aziel was annoying, I have to admit his suggestions weren’t all that bad.
“See?
Told you exploring would be fun.” As we reached the hotel, he said with a grin.
I didn’t bother responding to him and simply nodded before heading to my room.
The peace was just temporary, the chaos will start from next week as the academy will finally begin from then.
And I have to be ready…to survive my death, which was pulling closer with each day.
Collapsing onto my bed, I let out a deep breath as I let my sleep overtake me.
