Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 61
Chapter 61: Eliminating Bugs?
Chapter 61: Eliminating Bugs?
In a dark forest, a group of five people was wandering.
There were two girls and three boys.
“How many more herbs do we need?” One of the boys asked.
“Be patient, Sam.” A girl with a wand in her hand answered him, “We only need to hunt two more.” “You have been saying that for the last two hours, Annie.” Another boy-Derek muttered with a smirk on his face.
“You shut up, Derek.” The third boy-Valour snapped at him.
“Man, what the f*ck?” Derek said frustrated, “Why are you always mean to me?” “Well, it’s because you are stupid.” Valour answered him as everyone started laughing.
Derek looked at Valour in irritation.
But just as he was about to say something to another girl, Lilia interrupted.
“Calm down, you two,” Lilia gestured to them.
“Let’s just finish this quickly and go back.” “Man, why do we even need to do these stupid missions?” Sam was annoyed.
They had taken this mission to earn some points, as this was the only mission that was fairly easy with good rewards.
They had to collect some herbs, which were only found on this mountain.
The catch?
This mountain was filled with many monsters of Novice.
There were even some in Initiate Rank.
Just as they were having a friendly conversation, they heard a rustling sound as all of them quickly took their battle position.
As if they had been used to fighting in groups for a long time.
Annie, who was a healer, went to the back of the group with Lilia, who was the mage.
Derek was standing at the front with a huge shield double his size, as he was the tank of the group.
While Sam and Valour were by his side with a sword in their hand each.
They saw a monster emerging from the bush.
The monster’s strength was in the Initiate Rank.
The group went full alert seeing the beast.
“F*ck, what’s a hobgoblin doing here?” Derek cursed, “Weren’t they supposed to be very rare?” Their bodies tensed as hobgoblins were not easy prey to defeat.
Unlike goblins, who lived in groups and were novice-level creatures, hobgoblins were initiate rank monsters and mainly wandered solo.
_____ The group lay sprawled on the ground.
Their breathing was uneven.
Their clothes were smeared with blood, and their bodies were riddled with injuries.

“Sh*t, that was a close call,” Derek muttered, drinking a healing potion in one gulp.
But no one responded to him.
They didn’t even have the energy to respond.
But suddenly the forest went silent.
Too silent.
The distant chirping of insects and birds vanishing all of a sudden.
Even the mana particles became sparse as if something-or someone-was draining it away.
As if they had come to a completely different place all of a sudden.
Something was wrong.
Then they heard it.
Footsteps.
Soft, deliberate, and unhurried footsteps.
They turned around to see a lone figure emerging.
The figure was wearing a pure black robe, with mysterious runes moving around.
The figure held a dark purple blade that hummed with something ominous….
something worse and more vile than even the corrupted mana of demons.
“Who the hell-” Derek muttered, but his voice was cut short.
Pressure.
An invisible, intimidating pressure dropped in them like they were under a huge boulder.
It wasn’t bloodlust.
It wasn’t even raw power.
It felt like some kind of authority.
The kind that didn’t just come from strength.
They felt as if they were truly a bug.
The hooded figure finally stopped just a few steps away.
A soft, almost bored voice.
“So there were five parasites hiding in plain sight,” she said, her voice devoid of any emotions.
That voice-a girl?
Derek tried to lift his shield, but his body was refusing to obey his commands.
He finally understood.
She wasn’t an enemy they could hope to defeat.
“You-” Lilia asked, her voice shaking.
“Who are you?” The hooded figure removed her hood.
Long, white hair cascaded down her back.
Her cold violet eyes glowed ominously.
They knew who she was.
A name surfaced in their minds.
“A-Amyra Celestrian?” Sam mumbled.
Valour’s eyes widened; he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
His voice barely whispers.
“You-you’re not supposed to be here.
You shouldn’t even know about us-” “The artifact hid our mana; how could you know?” “The artifact you are so proud of may hide your demonic aura, but it can’t hide your filthy stench.” She responded, “At least not from me.” Amyra took a step forward, and the weight pressing down on them almost doubled.
Annie felt her heart pounding in her chest.
How?
How did she find out?
The organisation had spent years making this plan.
Everything was perfect.
Not even Jeremy Voidforge, one of the strongest of humanity, notices anything wrong.
And yet-she knew.
How could she?
Amyra lifted her sword.
An expression appeared on her for the first time: a smile…a cold smile that made them shudder.
“Since you bugs have done such a wonderful job pretending to be humans,” she said, taking another step closer, “I’ll give you a fitting end.” She moved.
Faster than any of their eyes could follow.
Faster than they could even process.
Valor was the first to die.
He had barely lifted his sword when Amyra appeared before him, her cold eyes locking onto his.
One precise and fluid slash.
And the next moment his head was rolling on the ground.
A single moment, and he was gone.
Dead.
Blood sprayed from his neck in the air like a crimson arc, painting half of her face with it.
But Amyra didn’t react.
Already used to it.
The blood stopped flowing as soon as a black flame devoured him into nothingness.
The flame didn’t even take a second before his whole body was gone.
Lilia was next.
She tried to chant a spell, her hands glowing with mana.
She never got the chance.
A single slash.
And her chest split open.
The girl opened her mouth, as if to cry out- Why- But no response came.
All that came was blood.
She slumped to the ground.
Her lifeless eyes were wide with horror; she witnessed.
Her body vanished by black flame too.
Sam barely had any time to scream before Amyra’s blade pierced his throat.
Amyra twisted the blade.
Sam’s body went limp.
Three down.
Two more to go.
But Amyra wasn’t even looking at Annie yet.
She had something better planned for her.
Her eyes were now locked on Derek.
The shield-bearer had dropped his weapon.
His entire body trembled as he fell backward.
“P€“please, no…” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
“No, no, no, no-” “Please spare me; the demon forced me to form the contract.” “I’ll tell you all about their plan.
Let me survive.” “There are more demon contractors I’ll…I’ll tell you about them all.” Derek pleaded.
“You see, I wouldn’t have even cared about your little group if that b*tch hadn’t eyed what’s mine.” A slow, crazed smile appeared on her face as she pointed at Annie.
Derek understood she had no intention to spare them.
He turned around and started to run.
He just needed to get away.
Amyra stood amused without moving.
Derek ran, but just as he did, he looked behind him to see if Amyra had followed him.
Derek’s eyes widened in horror.
She was just behind him.
No footsteps.
No sound.
Nothing.
Just there.
Unbeknownst to him, they were currently locked in Amyra’s domain.
There was no escape for them; only suffering awaited.
“Pathetic.” Then- Something cold plunged into his back.
He screamed in agony, feeling the blade twist inside him.
His mouth opened, but no words came out.
No scream.
No breath.
“Did you really think I’d let you run?” Amyra whispered.
She pulled the sword upward with full force.
Splitting him open.
As his body fell in two.
Amyra didn’t even glance at the corpse as it too caught fire before being turned to dust.
She turned her head-her violet eyes now locked onto the last survivor.
Annie.
The healer had fallen to her knees, her hands shaking violently.
Tears streamed down her pale face.
Her whole body was trembling nonstop.
Amyra knelt in front of the trembling figure.
“You’re different.” She smiled.
“I still have questions.” “You get to live for now.” Annie understood one thing-that this was far worse than dying.
The battle or rather massacre didn’t even take more than five minutes before it was even over.
______ Amyra stood up.
Behind her lay a bloodied figure of Annie.
Still alive, barely breathing but unconscious.
A normal person might even vomit seeing the condition of her body.
Amyra was different.
She stood calmly without even flinching.
She didn’t even have to do so much as Annie had vomited all the information before she had to do anything.
But Amyra was not satisfied.
How could she leave the person who tried to harm her, dear…
schemed against him?
So she gave Annie just a little punishment.
She summarised all the information she had gotten from Annie.
She kicked the unconscious body of Annie in anger.
‘How dare you even think of turning my Alden into a demon contractor?’ Their plan was simple.
To turn more people into demon contractors and stage a devastating attack at the time of midterms.
Alden was at the top of their list to turn into demon contractor.
Why?
Because he was the illegitimate son of one of the ruler’s family.
But she couldn’t understand why this had happened… No such thing happened previously.
Does this have something to do with that bi*ch Nyx?
No…she didn’t emit that foul stench.
She isn’t the demon contractor.
But still Amyra had a suspicion that somehow Nyx was involved in this all.
But Amyra wasn’t going to do anything yet.
A slow, crazed smile crept onto her lips.
No.
She wouldn’t stop them.
Not yet.
She is going to let their pathetic attack play out.
It would be the perfect excuse to grow closer to Alden.
Her gaze returned to Annie’s mangled body beyond recognition.
Amyra lifted her blade.
A single, merciless slash.
The healer turned to dust.
No trace remained.
Not even blood.
She dismissed her ability as the invisible domain covering the area vanished.
She turned walking away as if nothing had happened.
