Chronicles of Forgotten Extra - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: Dancing with Mysteries?
Chapter 69: Dancing with Mysteries?
Alden woke up the next day.
He hadn’t had such a great sleep in many days.
His whole body, instead of feeling sleepy, felt refreshed now.
His body didn’t ache.
His mind felt clear.
‘That was a damn good sleep.’ Today was his first day in the academy of dancing gorillas by Ms Gretta.
He was excited, to say the least.
Or that was how he wanted to be.
But instead he was nervous.
He was an introvert in his past life.
And as we all know, introverts and dancing go together about as well as cats and bathwater.
Perhaps there might be some.
But Alden?
Nope.
His dancing skills were so bad they made drunk monkeys look graceful.
He had been expecting some kind of legendary trial.
One filled with some kind of life-or-death fight or ancient wisdom, maybe even a dragon or two.
At least that’s what he thought from the name.
But what he got… Dancing.
The last thing he had expected… Heck, not in his wildest dreams would he have expected that.
But there was some positive to the situation as well.
This world was literally heaven for training.
He didn’t need to worry about time at all.
He could probably take his time learning and maybe break through some ranks as well or perhaps increase his mastery over his elements.
Alden was already making many great plans.
But unfortunately for him, someone was going to pour ice-cold water on his dream.
€“ Alden stood in the place where he had first appeared.
He saw Gretta dancing alone while Biribri was clapping excitedly with his hands in admiration.

Alden looked at the dance carefully.
‘What the heck?’ ‘Is that some kind of sacrifice ritual or what?’ The thought nearly left his mouth before he quickly suppressed that thought… He wanted to live.
He knew he would vanish without even a trace if that thought ever left his mouth.
But there was one undeniable fact.
Gretta was a terrible dancer.
Her movements looked awkward and without a flow.
Even Alden, who was a total noob to the art of dancing, could see it clearly.
There was no logic behind her movements.
Her movements were… chaotic.
Something clicked in Alden’s mind.
‘Wait a minute.’ ‘Chaotic.’ ‘Woah…Is that one of the legendary training methods, perhaps?’ Alden recalled many books in which he had seen a master with high strength make his disciples do some weird and insignificant movements.
Just when the students start complaining-bam-turns out those movements were actually part of a hidden technique.
‘Is it perhaps something like that?’ But sadly for Alden… He was wrong.
Very, very wrong.
It was not any legendary training method.
Gretta was just a bad dancer.
There was no hidden meaning.
No secret training method with any relation to Chaos Art.
Heck…Gretta didn’t even use chaos weapon art… she was just guarding the legacy of her friend.
But of course, there was no one to resolve Alden’s misunderstanding.
Poor Alden.
Still convinced that he had cracked some ancient code, he quickly walked towards the duo with excitement bubbling in his chest.
Biribri was first to react.
Gretta was still busy doing the awkward movements she called dance.
“Hey Alden, are you well rested?” Biribri casually called out Alden would never get used to such a powerhouse acting so friendly with him.
Biribri had the power to decimate Alden in less than a millisecond, heck, he could even destroy the whole Eryndor in less than a second.
And such a guy was being so friendly with him, like they were some old drinking pals.
But Alden wasn’t the one to reject a powerhouse friend.
“Yeah, I had the best sleep of my life.” Alden also responded casually.
“Great, great…” Biribri mused, not even minding the casual tone of Alden.
“What are you doing?” Alden asked him curiously.
“Well, as you can see, I am admiring the great dancing skills of the mistress.” He said calmly, his eyes never leaving Gretta.
‘Admiring?’ ‘Is he perhaps also one of the successors of Chaos Art?’ Alden’s thoughts were reaching the moon.
“Take a seat too.
Your dancing class will start soon.” Biribri pointed at a chair which appeared out of thin air as if it was always there.
‘Huh?’ ‘How do they make things appear so suddenly?’ ‘Is that perhaps a power one gains at primordial rank or something?’ ‘Man … But isn’t the power of creation too broken?’ ‘It must be something else then?’ Hiding his curiosity, Alden sat down, pretending like he wasn’t internally freaking out.
Not like he could hide his reaction from a powerhouse like Biribri.
‘Speaking of which.’ ‘I can’t even imagine how strong Gretta would be for having Biribri as her butler.’ ‘Is she perhaps in the peak of primordial rank?’ ‘Or is there some other rank after Primordial Rank?’ Alden couldn’t help but rack his mind thinking about so many mysteries in front of him.
But he couldn’t just ask something like that.
He didn’t know how they would react.
From the reaction of Gretta, when he asked about Chaos art, it was clear that even a powerhouse like her can’t reveal any information casually.
So instead he asked another thing he was curious about.
“Hey, Biribri, what is this place we are currently in?” “Well, Alden, it is a planet.
What else?” Biribri asked casually as if it was common sense to know this.
“Then how is time slowed down here?” Alden asked.
“Well, it’s because the main body of the mistress willed it.” Biribri answered casually again, as if it were the most obvious thing.
‘Huh?’ ‘What did he mean?’ ‘Hold up….’ ‘Doesn’t that mean Gretta can casually alter time just because she feels like it?’ Alden made a mental note: do not, under any circumstances, piss her off.
‘I had to be careful not to offend her….
Otherwise I won’t even realise before I die.’ Well, not that he had any plans to do that before.
He had already decided to not offend her, even by mistake, the first time he had seen her.
“Alden, let me give you a warning…” Biribri’s eyes turned serious as for the first time he looked at Alden.
Alden’s posture straightened looking at his serious face.
“Don’t think about staying here for more than a year, Alden.” Biribri said, “Truly, this is my sincere advice.” “You can ignore it if you want.” “But staying here won’t be of any use to you either.” “Why?” Alden asked, wary now.
“You can’t grow your strength in this place anyways.” Alden blinked.
“What?” “You might not have noticed it, but try to absorb the ambient mana to your core, and you’ll know what I am talking about.” ‘Huh?’ ‘What does he mean?’ ‘Why shouldn’t I stay for more than a year?’ ‘What he meant by trying to absorb mana?’ He quickly heeded Biribri’s advice as he tried to absorb ambient mana in the air.
Nothing.
He tried again.
But still nothing.
Not a single wisp of mana entered his body.
It was not that he couldn’t absorb anything… it was as if no mana existed in this place.
‘That was impossible.’ ‘How could that be?’ Mana was omnipresent. There was not even a single exception to it.
Or at least, that’s what he had believed till this moment.
But there was an even more important question he currently had.
‘How did I not notice it before?’ If there was no mana, he would have felt something different. But he felt nothing until Biribri mentioned it.
A cold sweat formed on Alden’s temple.
He was defenceless.
He couldn’t even resist if anything went wrong.
But Alden quickly put that to the back of his mind.
‘Meh… it’s not like I could resist even if I had mana.Though it’s a bummer that I can’t use mana, otherwise, I could have used the time here to grow stronger.’ “But how…
How could that be possible?
Isn’t mana…omnipresent?” A question left Alden’s mouth curiously.
“You are right, Alden, Mana is omnipresent, and it is present here, but there are other-” Just as Biribri was going to talk about something, Gretta clapped, interrupting him.
“I think that’s enough, Biribri.” She said as she walked towards them.
Biribri shut his lips tightly as he heard Gretta.
“Sorry, Mistress.” He said his head was going down as if he was sad.
“Don’t worry about that, Biribri.
I know you didn’t do that intentionally…” She said with a knowing smile.
She knew Biribri from his childhood.
She immediately understood that Biribri was just lonely due to him being alone for so long.
So when he saw a newcomer, he got a little excited.
Alden, meanwhile, was losing his mind.
“Alden, I suggest you heed that warning ….
well, unless you want to be turned into some bizarre animal.” Gretta said her eyes focusing on Alden.
‘…Bizarre animal?’ ‘What did that mean now?’ ‘Man….why do they have to give me so many mysteries?’ ‘Why did they have to be so cryptic, making me more curious?’ “And don’t ask anything else about what?
Or how?
Because you are not qualified to know anything yet.” “Just get stronger and you’ll know.” Gretta’s warning hit Alden like a storm.
He decided to complete the trial as soon as possible because the warning of not staying more than a year didn’t feel like a joke.
“Got it, Ms Gretta.” He answered politely.
“Good.” Greta spoke with a smirk.
“Now time to start our dancing lessons.” “Are you ready?” “Yes.” Alden responded.
He grinned.
‘Time to unlock Chaos Weapon Art.’ He had never been more wrong.
