Chapter 104: Chapter 103- Medic
[A few hours ago]
[Valorian Academy]
“Why do you always come across such strange entities?” Rudolph couldn’t help but ask as he saw the man who was bound by the ropes and was currently lying inside his room.
Rudolph had to return to his room since he forgot something and when he stepped out of the dormitory, he saw Rhea chasing someone with her cross-bow in her hand.
Naturally, he followed his instincts and helped catch the man who was quite agile and strong.
After knocking him out and bringing him to the room, Rudolph heard from Rhea that the man was snooping around the boys’ dormitory.
“Can’t be helped. I am blessed by lady luck~” Rhea grinned. It wasn’t the first time she bumped into a being who uses invisibility.
“He ran away after seeing you, and doesn’t belong to the academy….okay, he is a criminal,” Rudolph said as he approached the man and knelt before him.
“What are you doing?” Rhea asked as she saw him putting his hands on the criminal’s shroud.
“Trying to find which Lord he serves.”
Rudolph tore the black shroud of the man. He knew that this couldn’t be a passerby or a robber who was trying to steal something. The technique he showed while escaping couldn’t belong to a thug.
*Tear*
Pulling away the shroud, he searched his collar and back of the neck before his eyes landed on his arm—and Rudolph froze.
“Isn’t that….” Rhea muttered, her brows tensing in a frown.
It was the insignia of Eryndor that they saw on the man’s arm.
Rudolph’s brows were creased as well—a soldier from Eryndor in the academy and was trying to keep himself hidden?
Was it someone who knew Austin? No, his relationship with the capital wasn’t that good to keep a few soldiers nearby. And why would he need a soldier to spy around when Austin himself was in the capital?
And as much as Rudolph has observed the guy recently, other than Valerie and Sebastian Austin wouldn’t trust anyone.
Then….a spy? But who sent him? Was he here to just gain some information on someone? Or was he supposed to cause harm?
“We have to take him for interrogation,” Rudolph said, which surprised Rhea,
“But who will help us?” They were two students who captured a man under assumptions. People would surely question them first.
Rudolph, with a grin, got up and said, “Our dear vice-headmaster. Did you forget his specialty?”
Rhea couldn’t. The ex-hunter was infamous for his interrogation skills. People say that those who went inside his special cell for interrogation either spilled everything starting from their birth or died mid-way because of fear.
Rhea was unsure if they could get help from the vice-headmaster. However, since Rudolph seemed certain, she didn’t question him.
“But before that,” Rudolph added, “We need to take care of the L-pill.”
Rhea tilted her head, “L-pill? What’s that?”
Rudolph was amazed, “Someone aiming to become a warrior, doesn’t know about the L-pill?”
Seeing the confusion on her face, he told her, “It’s a way for a soldier to end their lives before they can get interrogated. In some countries, the soldiers are bound by spells, some by artifacts, but in Eryndor, they use the L-pill, or, the lethal pill.”
Rhea now realized what he was talking about, “Quite smart of you…” To not let the soldier kill himself right after waking up, he would remove the mechanism altogether.
“But do you know where that pill is?” She asked.

Rudolph nodded, “I do know but I can’t tell you, so face away.”
Rhea pouted, “I won’t tell anyone so lemme see.”
Rudolph chuckled, “Can’t grant you this wish, Princess, since I promised my father, who told me about it, to never reveal our military’s secrets to anyone. Not even you, Rhea.”
In the end, the pinkhead had to face away.

[Next morning]
[Drenovar]
Sebastian returned after his inspection and the group of three reunited at the motel they were staying at.
It was early in the morning, so Valerie was still slightly sleepy.
Austin didn’t mind her sleeping since he could have told her later what Sebastian got. However, she insisted on listening to it.
“The security around the palace is quite strict. Three layers of security and there is a high chance for the Council Members to be living in the palace at the moment.”
With a frown, Austin asked, “Did you see them?”
Sebastian nodded, “A few of them went inside wearing their uniform but came out wearing casual clothes sometimes around the dawn. They seemed to have gotten comfortable here.”
Given how long they might have to stay it was not surprising that the council officers were letting loose a little.
Austin crossed his arms, and thought for a moment; three layers of security were something he expected from the most important place in the whole country. However, these council members can cause unnecessary trouble for them.
“I have another piece of news, sir.” Sebastian began, “I noticed a certain man going in and out of the palace more than twice. When he went in for the first time, he had a bag, but then he came out not so long after, returned home then went back. And the next time he walked out, he was carrying his bag again.”
Following that, “He lives in the second district, and after investigating a little, it seems he is the medic treating the former king.”
Austin raised his brows; that’s quite an information.
Richard knew that the former king was suffering gravely from an incurable illness. Although he wouldn’t die immediately, since Rhea treats him later in the story, he still remains in a lot of pain.
So it’s not surprising for a medic to regularly treat him, to help him tolerate the pain.
‘This might work…’ Turning his eyes toward Sebastian, Austin spoke,
“You go and rest. I will keep an eye on him.”
Sebastian wanted to say something when suddenly Valerie jumped in, “I will also come.”
Austin shook his head, “No, Val. You need to go and keep an eye on the Stain. If you find the last demon appearing you need to inform us immediately.”
Valerie was slightly nervous about this arrangement, but considering the severity of the matter, she didn’t insist, “Okay, I will go.”
Sebastian soon added, “Be careful, young master. The medic always remains surrounded by soldiers.”
Austin nodded, “I don’t plan on approaching him. Just need to make sure a few things.”
With that, the three of them went their respective ways.
