Chapter 105: Chapter 104- Unexpected encounter
Austin was at the top of one of the buildings in the middle-town—keeping an eye on the house where the medic lives.
His plan was to take advantage of his regular visit to the palace and replace him as the medic by using the mask of disguise.
Once he was inside the palace, he could meet the former king in person and help him with his illness. And in exchange, he would ask for peace between Eryndor and Drenovar.
The reason they targeted Eryndor in the first place was because of their ancestors being killed during their visit to Eryndor.
And if they could become angered at the death of their deceased relatives, they surely would get appeased if Austin saved one of their living relatives.
Or so he hopes. However, if it doesn’t happen and Austin finds himself being cornered then he has two routes in mind to escape. One of the two might put Valerie in danger that’s why he was thinking of using the second method.
“The old man generally doesn’t leave the house, huh?” It was quite sunny today, that’s why Austin was feeling a little bothered sitting here in the open. However, there was no better spot where he wouldn’t get caught and could keep a close watch on the house.
‘I hope this improves my endurance…’ With those thoughts, he got up from his seat and began looking around casually
The market of Drenovar was not so populated because foreigners are being banned from entering the capital as of now. The reason was obvious.
And the native citizens were also staying indoors unless there was a necessity or an emergency.
‘Compared to yesterday, fewer soldiers are patrolling around….’ Maybe because of the increasing demons, or they were sent away to some other posts, the number of soldiers was a lot less on the streets.
Or maybe they increase the numbers at night? Who knows—
‘Huh?’ Austin’s eyes suddenly landed on a single figure running through alleys, while crying and shouting for help.
‘Is that a demon?’ There was a being chasing behind her, wearing tattered clothes that seemed to belong to the military.
A cursed one? But how did it escape?
Austin looked around to see if there was any officer nearby, however, the girl kept running deeper into alleys, where most of the houses were either closed or abandoned. There was no patrolling officer nearby and the demon was closing in passing each second.
Austin glanced at the house of the medic—it was still locked, which allowed the blond Prince to make the decision.
Summoning his Shard, Austin pushed off the rooftop, soaring through the air before landing effortlessly on the building across the street. His body felt lighter than ever—leaping over rooftops was no longer a challenge, just instinct.
His eyes locked onto the girl. The demon was nearly upon her.
Without hesitation, Austin dashed forward at blinding speed. At the last second, he twisted mid-air, his movements sharp and fluid, and sent his Shard hurtling toward the creature.
SHLINK!
The icy-blue dagger sliced through the air like a ghost, its form nearly invisible. The demon’s claw was inches from the girl’s throat—
SQUELCH!
“KHWAK!”
The monster choked, its body jerking as the blade buried deep in its back, piercing clean through its chest.
The girl was trembling all over as she fell on the ground …and inches away from her face was the dagger that saved her life.
*Thud*
Austin landed on the ground and told her, “It isn’t dead, so move away.”
The solemn voice of her savior was followed as she moved away from the demon to the best of her abilities.
Austin pulled away his dagger by summoning it back in his hand as he saw the gaping hole in the demon healing at an astonishing pace.

“*KHRUEGH*” The demon slowly turned towards Austin, its red eyes holding the sheer lust for murder.
Austin could tell that the Demon was weak because it failed to chase after a child, and even failed to respond to that attack.
“I heard you all are weak to the sun?” Austin asked as he twirled his dagger on his palm.
The reason why the demon was in an alley is because sunlight doesn’t reach there….and that explains why the soldiers weren’t as strict as they were during the night.
Austin took a step forward, his grip tightening around his Shard. The demon growled, its breath ragged, but it didn’t charge—it was hesitant.
Smart. But not smart enough.
“Come on,” Austin taunted, tilting his head. “I don’t have all day.”
The demon lunged, claws swiping for his throat. But before it could even reach him—
SLASH!
Austin blurred past it, his dagger carving through flesh like paper. A deep gash split its side open, black blood spraying onto the walls.
The demon howled, stumbling.
Austin didn’t stop. He dashed in again—
SLICE!
An arm went flying.
SCHLICK!
A leg followed. The creature crumbled to the ground, gurgling, trying to crawl away, but Austin was already stepping on its back, forcing it down.
“KHRUUGH—”
SHLINK!
The icy-blue dagger flashed once, then sank into the demon’s neck.
A sickening crack—then silence.
The body twitched for a moment, then went still, black blood pooling beneath it.
Austin exhaled, flicking the dark liquid off his dagger before summoning it back into his palm.
Austin heaved a disappointed sigh…even though it was not under the sun directly, the presence of the sun did affect its endurance.
‘It would be great if I could bring the Demon Lord under the sun as well …’
“Umm…” Hearing the hesitant voice, Austin turned toward the little girl, thinking of telling her to go find her family—when suddenly his eyes widened.
The little girl slowly grew bigger; her black hair took a light blue shade as she stood before him with her hands in front of her.
“Thank you for saving me, my savior.”
Austin wasn’t able to respond. No, it wasn’t because she was beautiful, since only one beauty can make him freeze like this.
The real reason behind his shock was the identity of the person…
‘Isn’t she the Princess of Drenovar?’
