Chapter 110: Chapter 109- Carnage(3)
In the books, it was mentioned that the Demon Lord had four Generals who became quite a hurdle for the Hero’s party during their quest to defeat the epitome of evilness.
Valerie remembers those four beings—their description was enough for her to know what kind of strength they must have held to even trouble the legendary warrior Kane.
That’s why, when she came across the one who was riding the wyvern, she knew that it wasn’t a Demon General.
‘It is a Greater Demon, but not a General…’ A General-ranked demon would at least take a group of S-rank veterans to defeat. However, the one she was looking at, didn’t give off that presence which could make her feel threatened.
Around the shore, chaos raged as the team from the Union Council, alongside the soldiers, desperately held the line.
Seventeen council members and a hundred soldiers remained, barely keeping the danger from spilling further inland.
The council members focused on the massive ocean monsters, wielding their rare artifacts and Shards to push them back. Meanwhile, the soldiers clashed with demons that had the terrifying ability to walk on land.
Only the Council possessed such powerful artifacts—allowing them to levitate, create barriers, and heal quickly with special potions. But beyond their tools, their coordination was almost supernatural. A single glance was enough to communicate, their movements weaving together seamlessly.
HIINNGRRRR!
A monstrous sea turtle, large enough to crush buildings, slammed into an invisible wall. Three council members held their hands out, straining to keep the shimmering barrier in place as waves crashed violently around them. More creatures loomed in the water, but the barriers prevented them from reaching the shore.
“KHUEEENG!”
The demons lunged toward the city, their thick shells glistening under the dim sky. Soldiers met them head-on, their blades scraping against the hard exteriors. Though their weapons only left shallow cuts, they refused to give an inch, forcing the creatures back through sheer grit and determination.
‘Should I interfere…’ They were somehow handling the situation, and remembering her Lord’s words, she was hesitant to show herself.
It was then,
“You…” The Greater Demon, who was lying on the wyvern until now, called out after sitting up, “… is the one who killed my men, right?”
Valerie frowned—there was no point in hiding since the demon had already sensed her.
‘As Austin said…I am bad at suppressing my presence…’ Something she has been practicing lately, but it seems it wasn’t enough.
Getting out of the hiding spot, she faced the Demon while standing atop a building.
The demon’s face split into a grin as he said, “You are strong…someone I want by my side. Leave the human territory and come with me. Your talent would be utilized in the best way possible.”
When the Demon began speaking, many people turned to look at her, and for some reason, the Demonic Beasts stopped moving all at once.
Now, the whole focus was on Valerie.
And in response to that proposal, all she said was,
“I refuse.” Anything that separates her from Austin is impossible to accept. And here, the creature is asking her to shift sides and become a Demon?
Pest really has a rotting mind.
The Demon lowered its head slightly, before muttering, “If you don’t accept,” *SHLINK*
Suddenly, a crimson blade burst from the Greater Demon’s hand before piercing three Union Council members—followed by an explosion from within as their bodies burst by the huge spikes that emerged from the blade.
“Aghh…” The nearby soldiers felt bile welling up, seeing the gore from so close.
The innards of the soldiers fell to the water and tainted the clear water with red.
The demon looked back up and asked, with a slight tilt of its head, “What about now?”
Valerie crossed her arms, “Do you think it affects me?” The tone she carried contained no identifiable emotion.

Those eyes reflected nothing but emptiness and indifference.
The Demon was actually taken aback—this was the first time it saw a human showing no empathy toward their brethren.
“Interesting…you are more interesting than I expected.” The Demon suddenly disappeared from sight—and Valerie instinctively stepped back before the Demon appeared just before her.
Lowering itself, it looked into her eyes before muttering, “Today, either I die or I conquer you.”
The temperature around Valerie began to fall as she summoned her Shiverfall,
The people around them gasped and held their breath upon the realization of her identity.
The battle between two S-ranks was about to begin.
°°°°°°°°
Austin and Hazir weren’t doing well near the Stain.
Although the soldiers had somehow limited the movements of the other demons, Sebastian has been decimating the demonized humans. However, nothing would work, if Austin fails to defeat this mutt.
‘This is bad…that thing is turning stronger with each attack….’
With sweat and blood tricking down his head, Austin looked at the beast that was standing there—now taller and stronger.
By his side, the Prince seemed to be struggling quite a lot as well. He has been thrown to the ground quite many times, and Austin knew that he wouldn’t be able to continue for long like this.
“Prince…none of our attacks has been damaging the beast….its weak point is ….those three heads in my knowledge…” Austin spoke, as he tried to calm his breathing.
“I also think so…but even making a dent on that thing is getting difficult…” The beast was quite agile and could sense blood lust, and that made it difficult to attack it.
“I think I have pla—”
Austin never got to finish. The beast lunged, a blur of muscle and malice, tearing toward them.
Reacting instantly, Austin slammed his axe to the ground. BOOM! A burst of blinding light exploded outward. The beast faltered, its charge stuttering as it reeled from the sudden flare.
But hesitation was fatal.
A massive barrier shot forward like a battering ram, slamming into the creature before it could recover.
“HAAAAAH!” Hazir roared, muscles straining, veins bulging as he drove the beast back, his Shard blazing like a second sun.
Yet, even against overwhelming force, an A-rank was an A-rank.
The beast’s claws dug into the ground. Its retreat slowed. Then stopped.
A guttural snarl tore from its throat as it gripped the barrier’s edges, muscles coiling with monstrous strength. The tide turned. Hazir’s feet slid back. The beast bared its fangs, ready to crush him—
*Tink*
Its ears twitched. Instincts screamed.
Eyes snapped skyward.
There, Austin hovered, his body crackling with lightning, the axe in his grip shining like a star about to fall.
Panic flashed in the beast’s gaze. It abandoned the barrier, legs tensing to retreat when suddenly—
*FUOOOOOO*
A flute’s haunting note sliced through the battlefield.
The beast’s body stiffened. Its head sagged, movements sluggish, its instincts dulled for just an instant—
Just enough.
*CRACKLE*
The sky roared in fury. Clouds blackened.
Then lightning fell.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Bolts of lightning, thick as tree trunks, tore down in rapid succession, striking with earth-rending force. Each impact sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield, turning stone to dust and carving trenches into the ground.
The beast convulsed. Flesh burned. Muscles locked. The force of the storm drove it to its knees, every fiber of its being writhing under the merciless onslaught.
The people around them could only stare in awe as they witnessed a power so terrifying that it could shake up one’s confidence even before the battle began.
And through the blinding storm of light and fury—Austin descended, axe raised, eyes locked onto the weakened prey.
“Its left head….” Hazir muttered as Austin landed beside him, “…it’s no longer moving….”
A ray of hope emerged on the horizon as Hazir saw one of the heads of the beast not moving anymore.
“The battle hasn’t ended, Prince,” Austin spoke, his breathing slightly uneven. That attack just now….took a huge toll on his Soul Energy. If not for his recent fight with the giants that allowed him to know more about the axe, he might have ended up harming himself back there.
“You are right…” The redhead royalty raised his shield and got ready to resume the battle as they saw the beast getting back on its beasts.
Its skin was slightly charred, smoke erupting from its body and the eyes of the other two alive heads were closed.
“It looks weaker now…we should finish this as soon as we can,” Hazir spoke as he leaned forward, ready to lunge.
‘Something is off…’ Austin narrowed his eyes as he felt the aura of the beast quite threatening, compared to before.
However, as Hazir said it was looking weaker than before, that’s why, “We should-*SQUELCH*”
Austin’s voice got choked as he felt something stabbing into his body, and the sensation registered a moment later.
Slowly turning his eyes down, Austin found the demon standing inches away from him, its hand pressed against his stomach, and its long nails dug into his flesh.
“KHEUGH,” Austin vomited blood, as he felt his eyes darkening.
The sensation of death has never been more vivid as the axe from his hand dropped and his Shard faded into nothingness.
