Chapter 89: Chapter 88- The caring older brother
Aiden was in his office, currently talking to his mother, “I am here with him. I won’t let anything disturb his health anymore.”
While holding her hand in his, Aiden spoke with utmost surety to comfort the lady.
Sophie exhaled a sigh that made her look older than usual before she uttered, “I don’t know what I would have done without you. Your presence has assured your father and me that nothing wrong would happen even when your father is not well.”
Sophie was initially quite worried when Aiden returned to them back that day. Growing up all alone she thought he would blame them, that he would never accept them as his parents.
That’s why she started paying more and more attention to him so that their family would never break apart.
As a mother, it was her duty to make up for that time when Aiden was away from the family, and struggling with his life.
Although her second son seemed unhappy about how his elder brother was getting all her attention, she thought Austin would understand with time. However, she was disappointed to see how, day after day, Austin only continued to grow wary of Aiden. And soon, his whole personality changed.
Once a tender and lovely boy he was. And now, she couldn’t even remember when was the last time she had a proper talk with Austin where they didn’t end up arguing over something.
“You are thinking about, Austin, right?” Aiden suddenly asked his eyes radiating warmth that made her shoulders slump.
“I feel…troubled about him, all the time, Aiden. Even though he has a responsible partner by his side, if Austin continues to possess that attitude, it won’t be long before Valerie becomes tired of him.”
Aiden shook his head, “You are wrong, Mother; Valerie would never leave him…and somehow, her tolerance is fueling his ego, in my opinion.”
Sophie, with a frown, nodded, “Yes…even though I have heard that their relationship has improved recently, it’s highly unlikely for that boy to completely turn into a new leaf so suddenly.”
Sophie very much detests those people who can’t respect those who care about them. The only reason why she had an argument last time with Austin was because, despite Aiden’s goodwill towards him, Austin always ended up conveying it in the wrong way.
While Aiden always tried to make a good connection with his brother, Austin was not ready to accept him at all.
Because of that, Sophie became extremely displeased with his behavior, and they had a fight just a day before he departed for the academy.
“Mom, please don’t scold him once he returns. Although you only think the best of him, your words make him hate me more.”
Sophie sighed as she cupped her son’s cheek and said, “Look at you…always looking out for him. And on the other hand, that child doesn’t even see you as his brother.”
Aiden fondly smiled at his mother, as he responded, “Regardless of what he thinks, it doesn’t change the fact that we are a family.”
Sophie nodded in assent. She sometimes felt that maybe she had made wrong choices in the upbringing of her second son, and that’s why the one who grew up away from him was so considerate and lovely.
“Your Highness,” Suddenly the maid arrived in the room, even though Aiden had forbidden her to enter unless there was an emergency.
That means…”What happened?” Aiden got up from his seat, as he asked.
The maid was breathing roughly but she didn’t delay in informing, “The first prince…he just arrived.”
“…!!”

Austin was making his way toward his father’s room without bothering to greet or react to the servants who saw him.
Following him were Valerie and Sebastia, who decided to stick together with him, for the time being.
Just as he was about to open the door and enter the room, “Wait, don’t go in!”
A familiar voice stopped him.
Austin heaved a sigh, before asking, “Why is that, mother?”

It was strange that after rebirth, it was the first time for Austin to meet his mother, but he didn’t feel anything in her presence. No connection, no warmth. She was just like any other person to him.
“Father is not well, so you shouldn’t disturb him.”
Entering the scene was the most annoying person in existence.
A concerned look marred his punchable face as Aiden said, “You should wait for him to wake up, at least.”
Austin barely held himself from punching the guy who tried snatching his lover from him. A very thin border was restraining his aura from flooding out and letting each and every person in the palace know what emotion Austin held for his dear older brother.
With a strained smile that didn’t hide his annoyance, Austin spoke, “I need to meet him urgently, so I have to go inside.”
“No, you can’t! Can’t you listen to your elders even once?” Sophie suddenly held his hand and pulled him away from the door.
Valerie frowned, seeing her Lord being insulted by the woman. Not even God has the right to behave rudely to him.
Austin rolled his eyes, and was about to say something when suddenly, “Austin…”
A voice arrived from the inside…and none of the five were unaware of whom this voice belonged.
“Austin…” He called out again, and soon the doors were parted from the inside.
A grey-haired butler appeared from the other side, and said, “Your father is looking for you, Your Highness.”
Aiden gritted his teeth in annoyance, ‘When I went to ask for his decision, that old fart was playing dead. And now suddenly, he is alive?!’
Regardless of what he thought, Austin removed his hand from the lady’s hold before stepping inside the room.
Valerie and Sebastian remained standing outside and even the King’s personal butler and Sebastian’s brother stood outside of the room, leaving only the father and the son inside.

Austin took a deep breath once his eyes landed on the old man…who was looking much older than the last time he saw him.
“Dying so soon? I thought you had some promises to fulfill?”
Cedric laughed; however, that only made his dry throat hurt, ushering Austin to pour some water for the old man.
Helping Cedric to first sit down, Austin brought the glass to his lips.
The blond one took a few sips of water slowly before he detached the glass from his lips, and while holding his son’s hand, he uttered,
“Thank you for responding to my request…”
There was a certain fondness in his eyes when he said that.
Austin couldn’t help but sigh as he said, “You have summoned me when I was having my sweet time in the academy…I hope this should be something important.”
Cedric grimly nodded, “Yes…it is.”
