Chapter 92: Chapter 91- Diversion
“Until we cross the city borders and reach the outer perimeter, we need to stay in the carriage. So Valerie,” Austin, while parting his lap, said, “Come rest here.”
The girl was taken aback by the sudden proposal, as she said, “B-But my head is heavy…”
“Your tip-to-toe is light as a feather, so stop making excuses and come here.” Austin was not going to let her refuse this time. She has been restlessly moving around since yesterday, unlike him, who got plenty rest last night
Naturally, he was planning to let Sebastian rest as well once they reached the great forest, but for now, the man was busy driving the carriage.
“Then ..if you’ll excuse me…” Shyly, the violet-haired rested a very small portion of her head on his lap.
Austin heaved a sigh, “Want me to put you on my lap and make you sleep like a baby?”
Valerie instantly rested her head on his thigh properly. That baby part would have been too much!
Austin warmly smiled at the girl as he tugged her hair strands behind her ear and whispered, “Relax when you have the time. We have a long journey waiting ahead.”
Valerie blinked in confusion, “Are we not going to meet Father?”
Austin’s heart clenched in guilt. It wasn’t that he forgot about his promise to meet his father-in-law, rather, it was the situation that didn’t allow him.
“Val…I am sorry, but we need to go to Drenovar first.”
He knew the importance of meeting Lord Corwon—to let him know about their relationship and assure him that Austin would take care of his daughter. However, at the moment, Austin’s focus was on Eryndor’s safety.
That’s why he postponed the plan of meeting him.
Valerie shook her head as she held his hand and told him, “You need not feel apologetic about it. You are not avoiding meeting him for a nonsensical reason. It’s about national importance and your father’s safety, so my father would understand.”
Austin looked at Valerie with a strange look in his eyes.
Even though he knew she would say something like that, hearing how she wasn’t angry about his change of plans made him momentarily stunned.
‘Luke, you can’t even keep a promise?! How unreasonable!’
‘Seriously, you made me wait here in the sun for ten long minutes?! You are the worst!’
‘Be more responsible or break up. That’s it.’
He couldn’t help but think of his past lovers, which he strictly didn’t want to think about in Valerie’s presence, who always complained at the slightest mistake or change in plans. And here…
“Ah..” A soft exclaim of shock escaped her lips when, suddenly, Austin lowered himself and kissed her lips.
The sudden intimacy took her by surprise; that explains why the violette turned completely stiff.
Once their lips parted, Austin stared into her sparkling eyes as he heard her, “So suddenly…”
“Just felt like it. Did you not like it?”
Valerie smiled before she lifted herself a little and pecked his lips, “Loved it.”

[After an hour]
There were three borders of the capital; two of them were visible, and one was not.
After crossing the third border, Austin called out, “Sebas, we will march towards the nearest town and hire a few horses.”

“Understood, sir.”
Austin glanced at Valerie and got a nod from her.
Once Austin ensured that they were in a dense forest and the sight of the three would be impossible to track, Austin commanded,
“GO!”
Austin and Valerie, along with Sebastian, darted away from the carriage while a man with the same dress as Sebastian got out of the small bracket under the driver’s seat and began driving the carriage.
Those who were following the carriage remained tailing the carriage while the three of them darted in another direction.
Their form was a blur, and that high speed thoroughly surprised Valerie and Sebastian.
‘His growth is mind wobbling.’ Sebastian inwardly thought.
‘My Lord is so amazing.’ Valerie smiled in pride, seeing how her beloved had been progressing rapidly.
Once they reached the town, Austin summoned a small cloth to hide his face.
Valerie did the same since they would have easily gotten the attention of people.
“We should take a break and eat something first,” Austin suggested.
Sebastian nodded, “I will go and look for the hors-”
“No, you should also eat with us, Sebas. You aren’t a machine.”
Sebastian was monetarily stunned as he glanced at the lady and found her nodding in assent, “Don’t push yourself too much, Sebastian.” Valerie added.
Lost in words, Sebastian sighed before ushering, “Okay then, let’s go to a place I know.”
The two teenagers followed the man before they entered a certain eatery named Billar’d bars
There were not many people around, so they got themselves a seat easily.
Once they were seated, a waiter came, “What would you like to order, sir?”
“Ah, one mushroom gratin,” Sebastian spoke first.
Austin raised his brows, “Is it good?” Getting a nod with a smile, Austin also ordered the same, followed by Valerie.
Once the waiter walked away, Austin said, “Sebastian, how far is the WarpMail center from here?”
Sebastian thought for a moment before he answered, “If we are going to the great forest, it would be in the route and will take two hours on a horse. But young master, who are you sending the letter to?”
Austin heaved a sigh before he revealed vaguely, “There is someone who Morkel used to report about me. However, now Morkel is working for me, so I want Morkel to affirm my arrival in the academy if he is asked.”
Austin couldn’t reveal that the person in question was Aiden. Since until now, he doesn’t have any evidence against the First Prince, which could make Sebastian realize the bastard’s true nature.
Sebastian didn’t ask any further questions, but he already had a clear idea of the person Austin had been so wary of.
‘I hope your suspicion is proven to be wrong…or this family would never become one, my lord.’
