Dark Magus Returns - Chapter 1226
Chapter 1226: Zon vs Red (Part 3)
The moment the artifact was destroyed, Zon used the energy from his thrusters to propel himself forward. He had zapped himself away from the fighting area and turned around.
He could see Red smiling from the distance.
“Did you lose that much confidence in yourself the moment your artifact was destroyed? You’ve changed, you’ve changed a lot,” Red claimed as he picked up two more red energized weapons from the ground and held them in his hands.
“You see the problem with artifacts themselves, unless they’re sturdy weapons, they tend to be a bit fragile in nature. It’s why I never opted to use them so much,” Red explained.
Red started to swing the weapons in his hand and through the air as if he was warming up and then placed them by his side once again.
“Come on, Captain! You said this is my punishment, right?” Red shouted. “There’s no reason for me to come to you in this fight. You’re the one that claimed you were going to punish me!”
Red knew what he was doing, and he knew that the captain would have to react. Getting his energy ready, he blasted it from his back again. Rather than going in a straight line against Zon, he started to rush from the sides.
He was zigzagging and moving at such a speed it almost looked like he was teleporting himself. Then coming forward, he swung his axe, and mid-swing from far away, he timed it perfectly to use his thrusters to propel himself forward.
All thanks to the system, he could calculate the perfect time to act. Mid-swing though, he saw that Red didn’t even move forward. It didn’t look like he attacked at all, he had just placed his hand forward with the weapon with him.
The weapon crashed into Zon’s suit, breaking apart, and just like before, the same trick with a moment’s delay of another energized weapon, it had hit through his armor, cutting into his flesh.
The attack from Zon’s hammer had created ripples that could be seen going off in the distant field—such a powerful attack, but it didn’t come close to hitting its target and it was completely useless.
“You’ve lived with the system that has told you everything you know,” Red claimed. “It’s given you the best answers—answers that you couldn’t even come up with yourself, to get you out of situations or to overpower and win in your own particular situation.
“Now, all of that is being used against you. Your cheat is outdated, it was designed so you could never beat me, Captain!” Red claimed, and his whole body was starting to glow.
Strangely, now it was Red that was moving all over the place. Afterimages were being left behind as he moved, made from pure energy.
As he moved, swords were being used to attack against Zon’s body. They were breaking as a result, but attacks so powerful, even with his special suit, he was gathering cuts.
The two wounds on his stomach were starting to add up in pain. The nanobots inside were doing their best to heal him, and to allow him to continue to fight.
Red continued to move around, and Zon tried to catch him, but he was behind, unable to do anything but keep getting hit.
‘This makes no sense!’ Anna thought. ‘How is Red able to move faster than the Captain? The power, the energy source he’s using is more powerful, anyone can tell just from the attacks, so how?’
“I think you need a lesson in systems itself. Things evolve, we evolve!” Red claimed as he delivered a large scratch right on Zon’s chest.
“As we evolve, we learn to use energy more efficiently, to produce power from other areas that are more lacking. We don’t stay stagnant. Yes, my energy source might be weaker than yours, but what you are dealing with right now… is perfection!”
Frustrated, Zon curled up into a ball, the energy for the two axes seemingly disappeared back inside him, then he lifted his hands and burst out. The energy broke out in all directions and had hit Red.
It flipped his body and hurt part of his suit, sending him back to the ground. Red got up from the floor, and part of his suit was sparking, but the sparks went away and there still wasn’t a scratch on his body.
“Although I expected that, I didn’t expect you to be so fast to think about it,” Red claimed. “But I bet you can see it already, right? Your system telling you that there is no chance that you can win this fight.
“And when that happens, what are you going to do? What can you do?”
Red was telling the truth, Zon’s system had already stated that it wasn’t an optimal move to make. It consumed a lot of energy because it attacked in all directions, but because of the attack, it was weak.
Too weak to take out Red with his suit, but he was so frustrated—not being able to come up with any other options in the meantime, not giving time or the option of what was the best thing.
In the end, the system was unable to come up with any answers. After Red had used the full power of his system, it was as if the voice was completely gone from Zon’s head.
“You’ve frozen, Captain, I can see it!” Red said, as he formed a sword in his hand and dashed right across the field. He flung his weapon from above his head, and it looked like Zon was going to do nothing.
His system had stated that Zon was going to do nothing, and it was Red’s victory.
“No, it’s not!” Anna shouted as she lifted up her bracer and stopped the attack, shattering the red weapon. “I’ve seen it, there are things in this world that even the system can’t predict!”
