Chapter 455: Kali, a new body, deserves a new name.
Two hours later…

The laboratory room was surrounded by transmutation circles glowing in violet tones, runic lines etched into the floor like magical scars pulsing in harmony with the demonic presence in the air. Ampoules, vials with mutated liquids and soul fragments in glass jars flickered as the ritual approached.

Evelyn was standing next to a table, her eyes fixed on Strax as if she were looking at something… wrong. Unfair, even.

He was standing in the center of the newly constructed circle. The runes that Evelyn had spent weeks to draw correctly for the first time… he had traced in fifteen minutes. With precision.

“So, did you understand how to open the veil of the soul without collapsing the receptacle?” she asked, a little out of obligation, a little out of technical pride.

Strax gave a slight nod and said casually:

“Of course. You just need to force the convergence core into the edge of the containment rune and… break the seal from the inside out with the echo of the original mana. It’s not difficult.”

Evelyn remained motionless. Her lips were parted. She blinked once. Twice.

“…You’re fucking with me.”

Strax raised his eyes from the runes to her, with the most neutral expression in the world.

“No.”

“But… that took years.” she muttered, now walking in short circles, her fingers massaging her temples. “Fifteen years. Fifteen years of studies, mistakes, explosions, visions of hell, and you…”

She stopped, pointing at him with an incredulous look.

“You listened to two hours of lessons. You didn’t even try once. You just… memorized. And you did it.”

Strax shrugged, like someone talking about baking bread.

“You explained it well. And the rest… well, demons have always been easier for me.”

“Easier?” Evelyn huffed, completely frustrated, throwing her hands up in the air. “You’re a walking disaster. A disgraced prodigy. If you missed just one rune I’d feel better, but no. No. You still have the audacity to put aesthetic symmetry into the lines!”

Strax gave a small satisfied smile as he watched the complete circle begin to react to his energy. Black flames appeared around the edge of the seal – not destructive, but dancing, like satisfied shadows.

“So can we start with Kallamus?”

Evelyn let out a resigned sigh and muttered, crossing her arms:

“If you die, it’s your fault.”

“If I die, who’s going to do the next ritual?” he retorted with an insolent smile.

She narrowed her eyes, but didn’t answer. Deep down… she was impressed. Annoyed, but impressed.

Frieren appeared in the doorway, silent as a shadow.

“Has he done it yet?” she asked, without getting too close.

Evelyn answered without looking back, her voice tired:

“He’s done it. And what’s more… perfectly. Wait, why did you already assume he’d done it?” Evelyn asked, looking at her mother.

“Hm? Wasn’t it obvious? He’s a dragon.” Frieren said.

Strax took a deep breath. His hand went to the center of the circle, where a small obsidian sphere pulsed. The receptacle.

“Talk later. Time to call the first one.” he muttered and took the first homunculus from the Inventory and laid it on the floor… “Let’s bring Kallamus in first.”, and began to channel his mana.

The whole room darkened.

The black flames that had once danced around the circle now became spiral columns, whispering in forgotten languages. The temperature dropped abruptly, and even the air seemed to hesitate before entering the lungs.

The receptacle, an almost human-looking homunculus with no defined features, lay motionless in the center of the seal, its translucent skin illuminated from within with an eerie purple glow.

Strax closed his eyes and concentrated, his aura expanding with surgical precision. The demonic mana emanating from him seemed ancient, almost primitive. It wasn’t the same as Evelyn’s natural energy, or the refined energy of a magician. It was raw, authoritarian, as if he wasn’t just shaping reality – but forcing it to obey.

He opened his mouth and intoned the words from the veil:

“Come on, it’s time for you to be reborn.”

The ground shook. The seal glowed with a black light. And then… a hissing roar filled the space – not with sound, but with presence. Something immaterial, unnatural, was beginning to occupy the homunculus.

The body squirmed, as if something gigantic was trying to fit inside a container that was too small. The veins popped out, dark, like possessed roots. The homunculus’ skin blackened at the edges, and double eyes began to form – two overlapping pairs, as if the body was trying to decide which shape to keep.

Evelyn took a step back, alarmed. “Is she resisting?” Evelyn thought… “Wait, is it a man or a woman? I’m confused now.”

“Have you ever seen me near a man? Of course it’s a woman,” Strax replied, his eyes shining with slit pupils. “She’s a younger dragon. She won’t enter a fragile body without making a fuss.”

Frieren raised his eyebrows, but didn’t intervene.

From the center of the body, violet smoke rose like a thorn. And then Kallamus’ voice…

ROOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

“Calm down, Kallamus.” Strax spoke firmly, taking a step inside the circle – something Evelyn tried to stop, but he ignored. “You know me well! Control your power!”

Smoke hesitated. “Strax…?”

Strax smiled. “That’s it! Take the body soon, you dirty dragon! I’ve got a lot to do here!”

There was a moment of silence.

And then the black flames retracted into the seal.

The homunculus’ body arched one last time, and then… stopped.

The light gradually returned to the room. The smoke disappeared.

The body was now complete.

“There.” Strax sighed, exhaling the last wave of mana that sealed Kallamus’ soul to the receptacle. “Now… how about fitting your body?” He looked up with a slight arch of his eyebrow.

Kallamus – or rather, the presence that had once been Kallamus – moved slowly, her eyes still adjusting to the new world. The body he occupied was raw, unfinished, a smooth, featureless shell. But not for long.

At the sight of Strax, her liberator, the one she had sworn to protect for eons, the essence inside her seemed to tremble.

An ancient warmth awoke…

And then she began to sculpt herself.

Her hair sprouted first. Long, wavy, of a blonde burnt by time – an aged gold, almost like straw in the sunset. Her bangs fell softly over her forehead, and thick braids emerged from the sides, trailing down to the floor like golden snakes.

From the top of her head, two horns emerged, rising like black spears. They were made of pure ebony, detailed with arcane grooves that glowed softly purple, as if they were breathing next to her. There was a touch of majesty and menace about them, in perfect balance.

Next, her skin formed – not ordinary skin, but a vibrant, bronzed hue that shimmered in the light like darkened gold. It had a subtly supernatural texture, smooth as velvet but dense as enchanted steel.

Her eyes opened, now fully formed – two glowing golden orbs, feline pupils that seemed to stare directly into the soul of anyone who dared to look into them.

And then, finally, her body took shape. The curves emerged with an almost theatrical precision: broad, lofty shoulders, a slender waist, generous hips, long legs. The voluminous bust balanced the figure with an aggressive but elegant sensuality. Every inch seemed sculpted with a purpose – like a deity of desire and war.

There was something ancient about her. Not just beauty – but presence. Something that dominated the air around her, making it difficult to breathe for a moment. It was a body forged to command, seduce and destroy.

Strax just watched in silence, a slight smile curving his lips.

“So… Kallamus is now…” he began.

“Kali” she corrected him, her voice now firm, deep and seductive at the same time. “That body… deserves a new name… it’s me. For real, this time.”

Kali was naked, her tanned skin glistening in the faint light of the room, every detail of her newly formed body radiating power and seduction. Frieren and Evelyn exchanged quick glances, their faces blushing discreetly – not at the presence of the madwoman, but at the boldness that emanated from the situation. Even so, they both kept their composure, knowing that none of this mattered.

But Kali didn’t seem to mind the stares.

She advanced, swift and decisive, like a predator who leaves no room for doubt.

In one fluid movement, she jumped onto Strax’s lap, wrapping her legs tightly around his waist. Her arms gripped his neck tightly, pulling him close, and then her lips met his in a deep, fierce kiss, charged with an overwhelming mixture of possessiveness and desire that had been contained for eons.

Strax stood still for a moment, surprised – not by the kiss itself, but by the raw, immediate intensity of that action.

She was more than a body now. She was fire. She was storm. She was Kallamus reborn, and the beast had awoken.

Frieren looked away, muttering, “Well… looks like the meeting is over before it even started.”

Evelyn just crossed her arms, a half resigned, half amused smile appearing on her lips.

Kali finally pulled away a little, resting her forehead against his, her golden eyes shining with an ancient hunger.

“Thank you so much, Strax. For bringing me back… My Husband”

Strax, still recovering from the shock, ran his hands through her hair, in a gesture that mixed affection and admiration.

“I know we still have a lot to do. But now… now you’re here.” She smiled, a mixture of promise and menace in her eyes.

She moved closer to his ear… “I need special attention when this is over… don’t forget to warm my insides…” she murmured.
