Chapter 144: Chapter 144 You will lose them Chapter 144: Chapter 144 You will lose them Dr.
Jones observed the man before him, his expression unreadable, yet his sharp eyes took in every detail.
Alexander Carter-cold, emotionless, and composed-sat before him on the luxurious hospital bed, his breathing slow and controlled.
The room was silent except for the faint ticking of the clock on the wall.
“Take a deep breath,” Dr.
Jones instructed, his voice calm yet firm.
Alexander obeyed, inhaling deeply before exhaling slowly.
Dr.
Jones sighed, glancing at his notes.
“Dr.
Hayes briefed me about your case…” he paused before meeting Alexander’s gaze, his voice lowering.
“To be honest, even if you attend all your sessions, you won’t ever be completely normal.” Alexander’s fingers twitched slightly, but his face remained expressionless.
Dr.
Jones continued, his words deliberate.
“If you want to be fully cured…
it depends entirely on you.
However-” He placed his clipboard down and folded his arms.
“You will lose them.” A muscle in Alexander’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
“If you go through with this…” Dr.
Jones leaned forward slightly, watching him closely.
“Gray.
Ray.
They will disappear.
Completely.” A flicker of something-pain-passed through Alexander’s cold gaze, but it was gone as quickly as it had appeared.
He blinked slowly, his face unreadable.
Dr.
Jones sighed.
“Don’t suppress your emotions.
That’s exactly why this condition developed in the first place.” Alexander remained silent.

Jones narrowed his eyes.
“Do your other personalities know about your decision?” “Clueless,” Alexander replied, his voice void of emotion.
Dr.
Jones stared at him for a moment before shaking his head.
“This is dangerous to do,” he warned, his tone grave.
“You’re essentially deciding whether or not to erase entire parts of yourself.
Gray and Ray exist for a reason.
They are you.
They were created as a defense mechanism, and removing them completely…” He exhaled sharply.
“It’s not a simple process.
It could go very wrong.” Alexander tilted his head slightly, his dark gaze intense.
“I know.” Dr.
Jones studied him carefully.
“And yet,” he said slowly, “you still want to go through with it?” Alexander’s lips parted slightly, as if he were about to answer.
But at that moment- His phone vibrated.
A new message.
From Lilith.
And Ethan’s message too, which he completely ignored.
Alexander glanced at the screen, his eyes softening ever so slightly before his fingers hovered over the reply button.
Dr.
Jones didn’t miss that.
“You have someone important in your life now, don’t you?” he murmured, watching Alexander’s reaction.
Alexander didn’t respond.
Dr.
Jones leaned back.
“Let me guess,” he continued, tapping his fingers against the clipboard.
“She’s the reason you’re making this decision?” Alexander’s grip on the phone tightened slightly.
“…It’s my decision,” he finally said, voice even.
Dr.
Jones exhaled.
“Think it over,” he said.
“Because once we start…” He met Alexander’s gaze, voice firm.
“There’s no turning back.” Dr.
Jones watched as Alexander remained silent, his gaze fixated on his phone screen.
The soft glow reflected in his dark eyes, momentarily making him look almost… human.
Almost like a man caught between choices-to hold on or to let go.
Dr.
Jones sighed.
“You’re hesitating.” Alexander’s grip on his phone tightened, his thumb hovering over the screen, but he didn’t reply.
“Let me put it this way,” Dr.
Jones continued, setting his clipboard aside.
“Gray and Ray aren’t just fragments of your mind.
They’re parts of you.
You don’t just wake up one day and decide to erase yourself, Alexander.
The human mind doesn’t work that way.” Alexander’s jaw clenched.
“They aren’t me,” he said finally, his voice sharp, cold.
“They were created out of necessity.
But they’re no longer necessary.” Dr.
Jones let out a humorless chuckle.
“Is that really what you think?
Or is it what you want to believe?” Alexander didn’t answer.
Dr.
Jones leaned forward, his gaze piercing.
“Let me ask you something-if you go through with this, who will you be?” Silence.
Alexander didn’t move, but the question stayed between them, unanswered.
“I’ll be myself,” he said at last, voice lower this time, almost as if convincing himself.
Dr.
Jones shook his head.
“No.
You’ll be what’s left of yourself.
You might not even be you at all.” A flicker of uncertainty crossed Alexander’s face before disappearing just as quickly.
Dr.
Jones observed him for a moment before exhaling.
“You’re not planning to tell them, are you?” “They don’t need to know,” Alexander replied instantly.
Dr.
Jones clicked his tongue.
“So you plan to just erase them without a word?
Without warning?
Without letting them say goodbye?” Alexander’s fingers twitched.
His heart felt… strange.
Dr.
Jones tapped his fingers against the desk.
“Have you ever considered what will happen if Lilith finds out?
Or how she’ll react if she realizes the man she loves isn’t the same anymore?” A muscle in Alexander’s jaw ticked, and Dr.
Jones knew he’d hit the right nerve.
He smirked slightly.
“Ah.
That’s the real issue, isn’t it?” Alexander finally looked up, eyes sharp.
“You don’t understand,” he said, his voice calmer but dangerously cold.
“Lilith doesn’t love Gray.
She doesn’t love Ray.” His fingers curled into the bedsheets, tightening with restrained emotion.
“She loves me.” Dr.
Jones studied him carefully.
“Are you sure about that?” Alexander’s throat bobbed.
Dr.
Jones smiled knowingly.
“You can keep telling yourself that, Carter,” he murmured, standing up.
“But something tells me…
you’re afraid of finding out the truth.” Alexander’s gaze darkened, but he said nothing.
Dr.
Jones walked toward the door but paused.
“I won’t stop you if this is what you really want,” he said, glancing over his shoulder.
“But at least do me one favor-” His expression turned serious.
“Talk to them first.” Alexander stayed silent as the door clicked shut behind him.
A long, heavy breath left his lips.
He glanced down at his phone screen.
All the photos had finished downloading.
He opened them and looked at the ones Lilith had sent him.
She and Rose looked pretty together… Wait, together?
Did Lilith also go to the lake event?
His brows furrowed as he quickly checked Ethan’s message.
Jealousy flared in his eyes the moment he saw how many men were checking out his Lili!
