Chapter 176: Chapter 176 Who really was Lilith?
Gray couldn’t shake the feeling growing inside him.
The way Lilith walked through the palace, not like a tourist admiring something new, but like someone who had seen it all before.
The way her eyes lingered on certain structures, how she seemed to know every little detail, not just the obvious things, but the purpose behind them, things most people dismissed as mere decoration.
She wasn’t surprised by anything.
Not the fortress walls, not the hidden passageways, not even the ancient engravings that others barely noticed.
And then there was that look in her eyes.
Deep.
Distant.
Nostalgic.
Why?
Gray’s fingers tapped against his arm as he observed her.
Maybe she just liked historical places.
That was the easiest explanation.
The most logical one.
Anything beyond that was impossible.
Right?
The next day, their trip came to an end.
Their flight back to City M was scheduled early in the morning, and Lilith was already packing their things.
She worked efficiently, folding clothes, organizing everything with ease.
Gray, watching her from the doorway, sighed before stepping in.
“Let me help.” Lilith raised an eyebrow but shrugged, tossing a shirt in his direction.
“Such a gentleman.” Gray rolled his eyes but helped anyway, neatly folding the clothes she handed him.
Lilith glanced at him as he worked, a slow smirk tugging at her lips.
“You’re such a cutie pie.” Gray paused mid-fold, giving her a deadpan look.
“Take that back.” Lilith simply chuckled, zipping up the suitcase.
“Never.” As Gray watched Lilith move, effortlessly packing their things, adjusting the folds of a shirt without a second thought, he felt something strange settle in his chest.
Familiarity.
Yet, at the same time-distance.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
It didn’t make sense.
He felt like he knew her, like he had seen her before.
And yet… He didn’t know her at all.
She was an enigma, wrapped in secrets he wasn’t sure he was meant to uncover.
Lilith, oblivious to his thoughts, zipped up her suitcase and glanced at him with a teasing smile.
“Done staring?” Gray blinked, his expression unreadable.
“I wasn’t staring.” Lilith chuckled, shaking her head.
“Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night.” Gray said nothing.
Because that was the problem.
he wasn’t sure if knowing her would bring him peace or only more questions.
And just like that, their trip ended, but the questions in Gray’s mind remained.
Who really was Lilith?
** Office Day “Did you forget about us, Lilith?!” Ava whined dramatically, clinging to Lilith’s arm like a child abandoned in a storm.
Beside her, Nova nodded solemnly, his expression one of pure heartbreak.
“We were left to suffer alone,” he added, sighing heavily as if their lives had been nothing but misery in her absence.
Lilith glanced at them, unimpressed.
“Oh, of course.” Their eyes widened in horror.
“Lilith!
How could you?!” Ava gasped, clutching her chest as if she had been personally betrayed.
Nova shot her a wounded look.
“You’re so heartless, Lilith.
We gave you our trust, our friendship, and this is how you repay us?” Lilith rolled her eyes, shaking them off.
“Stop being dramatic.
I was gone for few days.” “few days of suffering!” Ava cried.
“few days of lifeless office work without your chaos,” Nova muttered.
Lilith sighed, taking a bite of her food, completely unfazed by their over-the-top reaction.
Honestly, how did she end up with such clingy humans?
“Can you both Stop being dramatic!” Lilith mutterd “I wil tell you everything,” she said.
Lilith took a slow sip of her cold drink before casually dropping the bomb.
“Actually, Human Doll had an accident…” Ava and Nova froze mid-bite, their faces twisting in confusion “Whose doll?” Ava muttered, blinking.
“Which doll?” Nova echoed, just as lost.
Lilith bit the inside of her cheek, realizing-of course.
They didn’t know about his nickname.
With a tired sigh, she set down her fork and looked at them.
“Your boss.” Silence.
Then- Their eyes went wide in horror.
“W-What?!
Where?!
Where is he?!” Ava gasped, frantically looking around as if Sebastian might suddenly appear behind them, ready to fire them on the spot.
Nova’s fork slipped from his fingers.
“Please tell me he’s not here.” Lilith rubbed her temples.
“Calm down.
Your boss is the human doll.” Ava and Nova turned to each other slowly, realization dawning.
Then their mouths dropped open.
Ava was the first to recover, slamming her hands on the table.
“You’re legendary, Lilith!” Nova nodded in pure admiration.
“First, you melt the boss’s cold heart and become his girlfriend-” “And now you’ve given him a cringe nickname?!” Ava added with a salute.
Lilith rolled her eyes, shaking her head.
“You two have way too much free time.” “No, seriously, how do you get away with this?” Nova asked, still in awe.
“If I so much as breathe wrong near him, I feel like I’m about to get fired.” Ava nodded.
“Meanwhile, you call him a doll to his face, and you’re still alive.
What kind of cheat code is this?” Lilith smirked.
“Talent.” Ava and Nova sighed dramatically, shaking their heads.
“Unfair,” they muttered in unison.
Lilith just continued eating, enjoying their suffering.
Ava’s eyes widened as realization dawned on her.
“So that’s why the boss hasn’t been coming in for so many days!” Nova, on the other hand, looked like he had just won the lottery.
“That explains why everyone in the office has been so happy lately!
No boss, no suffering!” He leaned back in his chair, laughing.
“He didn’t come today either, right?” Nova asked, grinning.
Lilith nodded, but she didn’t mention that he was coming after lunch.
He only had a head injury, and he was already feeling much better.
Lilith had to admit, his recovery speed was almost unnatural-his body healed faster than a normal human.
It was honestly impressive.
Too bad for Nova, though.
“Thank God!
Lilith, please put in a good word for me when he comes back.
Maybe I’ll finally get that promotion.” Nova clasped his hands together as if she were his last hope.
