Devilish secretary - Chapter 207
Chapter 207: Chapter 207 Trap
“Ah, love at first sight, then?”
“NO!”
Jack was half tempted to throw the robot out the window.
But before he could argue further, a soft sigh came from the bed.
Lilith shifted slightly, her voice low and drowsy.
“Tin can… if you don’t shut up… I swear I’ll turn you into scrap metal…”
Sir Sparkleton immediately stopped talking.
Jack froze, swallowing nervously.
If she had woken up just a few seconds earlier, she would have heard everything.

The soft wind filtered through the curtains, carrying the scent of fresh flowers into the sunlit room. Lia sat quietly beside Rayan on the couch, her eyes glowing with gentle affection as she placed her delicate hand on his cheek.
“It’s weird, right?” she said, her voice like a lullaby. “When we fall in true love… we always have to face some kind of difficulty. It’s like the universe is testing our patience for each other.”
Her words were soft, but they carried a deep warmth that settled into Rayan’s chest. Her fingers moved slowly against his skin, and the way she looked at him..so full of quiet trust made his heart ache in the best way.
They say men fall for beauty, and sure, he had been captivated by her face once. But that wasn’t why he stayed. No, sometimes men fall for the safety in a woman’s presence. For the way she speaks to them when the world is too loud. For the way she touches their face like it’s something fragile.
And Rayan… he loved the warmth Lia gave him.
She didn’t chase power or status. She didn’t ask him to be someone else.
She simply existed beside him.
Her hand gently lowered to her own belly, now slightly rounded. Her pregnancy was in its third and a half month, and Rayan’s eyes lingered there on the soft swell that carried his child.
His heart felt strange.
Not heavy… but full.
The idea that this gentle woman was carrying his baby… it humbled him. It made him feel like a man, not just someone seeking money or position.
He had always liked children.
And now… he was going to be a father.
He hadn’t reached out to Lilith, not once. His parents were furious with him for that especially after finding out Lia was pregnant.
They hated her. Called her “dirty blood.” They didn’t want a grandchild from a woman like Lia.
But that was the day Rayan made his choice.
He broke ties with his family.
He didn’t announce it. Not loudly. Not angrily. Just… quietly walked away from everything.
He didn’t need their wealth.
What they didn’t know was that he had already started building his own business back in his college days, a small but growing company that no one paid attention to.

He hadn’t told Lia any of this. She didn’t know he had given up everything for her.
She just kept loving him softly, the way she always had.
Rayan did like Lilith once. Maybe even loved her in some corner of his heart.
But now he stopped thinking about Lilith.
Because this woman beside him, with her quiet strength and her soft words—
She was enough.
And as he leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Lia pouted, resting her hand over her slight baby bump with a dramatic sigh. “I can’t participate in movies now!” she said, half teasing, her tone playful but filled with a trace of frustration.
Rayan chuckled, shifting upright beside her. “Don’t worry. Once the baby is born and you’re back on your feet, you’ll act again. And not just act…you’ll win Best Actress one day, I’m sure of it.”
Her eyes sparkled with hope. “Really? I heard the Brooks are investing in a big historical drama soon… It’s perfect for me. Can I try?” she asked hesitantly, searching his face.
But his smile faded.
“No,” he said firmly, his gaze sharpening.
She blinked, a little stunned by his sudden change in tone. “Why?”
Rayan’s voice dropped, hardening. “Because… me and my family have nothing to do with each other anymore. I broke all ties with them.”
“What?” Lia’s expression froze. Her fingers clenched slightly against his sleeve.
He met her gaze directly, his face composed but cold. “I told them about you… and the baby. And they wanted nothing to do with it. They called you names. They tried to insult you. So I walked away. I don’t need their approval, or their money.”
There was a silence.
Then—
Lia slowly reached forward and hugged him, pressing herself into his chest as if overcome with emotion. “I… I can’t believe you did that for me, Rayan…” she murmured, her voice quivering faintly.
He wrapped his arms around her gently, thinking she was touched. His heart softened, feeling proud of his choice—proud that he stood for her.
But Lia’s face, hidden from his view, was far from emotional.
Her brows lowered slightly, her lips parting in disbelief.
Her eyes once wide and hopeful turned still.
And slowly, dangerously…
Ugly.
Not from tears, not from gratitude—
But from the sudden realization that Rayan had cut off his connection to the Brooks name.
To power.
To money.
To the one ladder she had planned to climb.
She didn’t smile.
She didn’t move.
She just sat there in silence hugging him.

Nyom Brown sat still in his big, expensive office. The leather chair under him made a soft creaking sound as he gripped the edge of his shiny wooden desk. The room was quiet, but it no longer felt calm. It felt tight, like the walls were closing in.
Nyom’s face, usually full of pride and confidence, had changed into something angry and afraid.
His eyes were wide with shock, his mouth tight with stress. He was sweating, even though the air in the room was cool. Everything was falling apart and it all started with those papers.
He remembered how Grandma Bria had smiled when she gave him those documents. They looked real..stamped with Carter Corporation’s logo, full of business deals, plans, names, and numbers.
She had told him these were secret papers from Sebastian, meant for a big new project the company would soon launch.
The papers said a lot about investments, meetings, and hidden plans. Nyom had believed every word. After all,
Why would she lie? And Nyom, who always felt powerful and smart, thought this was his chance.
He waited for the right moment. He made a plan. He shared fake news with reporters and told rival companies lies about Carter Corp. He wanted to damage Sebastian’s name, to ruin him. He thought it was perfect. Everything seemed to go smoothly. But then, suddenly, it all started falling apart.
His emails didn’t go through. The rival firms stopped talking to him. People began to act strange. Then came a knock on his door. A cold, sharp knock. It was the police. Officers from the Economic Crimes Bureau came in with serious faces and stacks of paper. They had records, proof, and questions. Someone had sent them a tip and that tip led them straight to Nyom.
That’s when Nyom realized the truth.
There was no secret project.
There were no real deals.
Everything he thought was true… was fake.
