Devilish secretary - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Normal Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Normal After office hours, Lilith was just about to head out when she was surrounded by Nova and Ava, both grinning ear to ear.
“You really want to be our friend, right?” Nova asked, practically bouncing on his feet.
“Of course she does!” Ava replied for her, excitement twinkling in her eyes.
Lilith found herself smiling at their enthusiasm.
Before she could respond, Nova eagerly hugged her arm, careful not to cross any boundaries.
“Let me drop you ladies off!
Just let me grab my baby,” he said with a playful wink, heading toward his car.
Lilith couldn’t help but laugh, feeling a warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time.
It was strange, but… nice.
Comforting, even.
Across the lot, Sebastian sat in his car, ready to leave but When he saw her, he stilled.
Lilith was walking with someone-a young man-who was holding onto her arm with an annoyingly ease.
But it wasn’t just that.
She had a genuine smile on her face, a look he hadn’t seen in the office, a look he hadn’t been able to get out of her himself.
Something in him twisted, an unwelcome, prickling feeling rising.
It irritated him more than it should have, seeing her look so happy with someone else.
That smile of hers-it was annoyingly… out of place.
Sebastian sighed, rubbing his temple as Liam’s overenthusiastic voice echoed through his car speakers.
“Hey Sebbbvyyyyyyy!” Liam’s drawn-out greeting was loud enough to make him wince.
“Come straight to the point, Liam,” he replied, voice sharp.
He already had enough on his mind, and Liam’s high-energy tone wasn’t helping.
“Okay, okay!” Liam’s voice lowered, but he still sounded as gleeful as ever.
“I’m at the club, and you’re coming right now.” “Not interested,” Sebastian replied instantly, his tone as flat as ever.
“Fine, fine!
But you can’t bail on me tomorrow, got it?
I’m throwing a big party-all my friends are coming, and so are you.” Sebastian hesitated, staring out the window as he thought it over.
He rarely attended Liam’s gatherings, preferring the quiet of his home.
But something about today had left him feeling… restless.
“Alright,” he said finally, giving in.
“Great!

I knew you’d come through, Sebby!
Tomorrow’s going to be epic!” Liam laughed, already celebrating the victory before hanging up.
Sebastian slipped his phone back into his pocket, a slight frown on his face.
He wasn’t sure what to expect at Liam’s party, but one thing was certain-after the strange day he’d had, maybe a change of scene would be a welcome distraction.
** Nova and Ava dropped her off at her apartment, and Lilith waved them a small goodbye before heading inside.
The day had been exhausting, and a long, hot shower sounded like exactly what she needed.
After letting the warmth soothe her muscles, she wrapped herself in a towel and sighed, ready to relax.
But then she felt a sudden discomfort and realized with a hint of surprise-she had her period.
It caught her off guard, stirring an irritation deep within her.
As a devil, she had never dealt with this before.
It felt foreign, frustrating, and even a bit annoying.
Rummaging through her drawer, she found only an empty pad wrapper.
“Perfect,” she muttered, adding to her annoyance.
She’d have to go out and buy some, something she hadn’t anticipated doing tonight.
She threw on a casual outfit-a long, oversized t-shirt paired with soft, comfortable shorts.
Her long black hair was tied up in a half-up, half-down bun, leaving a few strands to frame her face.
Slipping on her sneakers and grabbing her purse, she took a deep breath, preparing herself to step back out.
As she walked down the hallway of her apartment building, she couldn’t shake the thought: she was truly becoming more human.
A mix of emotions swirled in her chest-curiosity, frustration, and a strange warmth she couldn’t quite name.
She was feeling things she’d never felt before.
Life as a devil had been straightforward, defined by strength and solitude, but here she was, experiencing the small inconveniences and routines of mortal life.
She couldn’t deny that this shift, these experiences-even the irritating ones-were pulling her into something she never expected: a life that felt almost… normal.
Lilith made her way to the convenience store near her apartment, her steps quick but casual.
It was only a five-minute walk, and soon enough, she was standing in the fluorescent-lit aisles, picking up two packets of pads.
Just as she was about to leave, a familiar figure outside caught her eye.
Sebastian sat in his car with the windows down, speaking into his phone.
He looked very serious. But as if he sensed her gaze, he looked up, his eyes locking onto her.
For a moment, he froze, taking in the unexpected sight of her like this-her long legs, her casual outfit, and that effortless half-up, half-down bun that framed her face perfectly.
It was as if he was seeing a new side of her, one he couldn’t look away from.
He frowned slightly, annoyed at his own reaction.
He didn’t want to look, but he also couldn’t seem to tear his eyes away.
The sight of a few guys glancing at her as she walked only added to his irritation, and he drew in a deep breath to steady himself.
Lilith noticed him, gave a simple nod of acknowledgment, and turned to leave, her face calm and unreadable.
But to Sebastian, even that small nod felt strangely captivating.
Her face looked even more beautiful in the dim evening light, and he found himself wondering how she could look so serene, so unfazed by the world around her.
He gripped his phone tightly, trying to shake off the unexpected thoughts, but her image lingered, pulling him into an internal battle he couldn’t quite understand.
Lilith returned home and quickly put on one of the pads she’d just bought, feeling an immediate sense of relief as the discomfort faded slightly.
She then slipped into bed, pulling the duvet up to her chin and cocooning herself in the warmth.
She didn’t feel like eating or doing anything else; all she wanted was rest.
Curling up, she placed her hands on her stomach, trying to ease the dull ache spreading through her abdomen.
The pain was new to her, unfamiliar and unsettling.
As a devil, she’d never had to deal with these physical discomforts before, and the experience of becoming more human was both strange and exhausting.
Yet, lying there in the quiet, she found a small sense of peace.
