Chapter 210: Chapter 210 Goddess in exile
“Thank you for saving Miss Lilith. She is extremely grateful for your service!” Sir Sparkleton chirped proudly, his square metallic body puffing with importance as he stood beside the bed like a loyal tin soldier.
Lilith, now awake and cleaned up, leaned against the headboard, dressed in fresh clothes lent by Jack’s mother. Her wet hair was loosely tied, and the exhaustion had faded slightly from her eyes. She looked softer now… more human than usual.
She gave a faint smile. “Thank you,” she said gently, her voice calm. Just that small curve of her lips made her usually sharp, queen-like features melt into something beautiful and warm.
Jack’s mother, sitting at the edge of the bed, looked at her with concern and kindness. “It’s alright, child! But you never told me…where are you from? Do you want to call your family? And this robot—what exactly is he?”
She was speaking fast, the worry in her motherly tone making her questions tumble out in one breath.
Lilith’s expression shifted slightly.
Family…
That word didn’t sit right with her. It felt like a hollow shell—a word filled with emptiness and blood and nothing soft.
Still, she didn’t want to appear strange. So, she smiled again, this time with a little more curve, and replied, “I don’t have to call anyone. My boyfriend might come here to pick me up anytime. And this robot—” she nudged Sir Sparkleton gently with her foot, “—he was a gift from him.”
The words were simple, but they settled into the room like a weight.
Boyfriend.
Jack, who had just entered with a tray of warm soup and herbal tea, froze for a second. His grip on the tray tightened ever so slightly before he silently walked over to place it down.
His face was calm, but his eyes gave him away.
That small spark in his chest dimmed.
“…Oh,” was all he said.
Jack’s mother, too, looked between her son and Lilith, and though she smiled kindly, a flicker of sympathy touched her eyes as she patted her son’s arm lightly.
Even Sir Sparkleton seemed to pause. His red eyes blinked slowly as he turned toward Jack.
“Emotion detected: mild heartbreak. Suggestion: warm beverage and self-reflection.” he said in a soft tone.
Lilith sat leaned against the headboard of the bed, her posture relaxed but regal. One leg was folded loosely beneath her while the other stretched forward, her damp hair loosely tied at the back. The room’s soft lighting danced across her sharp cheekbones, but the expression on her face was anything but soft.
Jack stood a few feet away, his hands awkwardly shoved into his pockets, his face burning an impossible shade of red.
Sir Sparkleton had just casually exposed him like a ticking embarrassment bomb.
Lilith’s gaze flicked toward Jack without urgency, her chin tilted slightly, eyes narrowing…not in judgment, but in amusement. Her back remained rested against the headboard, arms folded gently in her lap, a small, knowing smile creeping onto her lips.
She watched him fumble, watched the uncomfortable shift in his stance, his boyish nervousness. He wasn’t used to this being read so easily, being caught so bare.
She blinked slowly, then spoke with a voice like velvet laced with sparks.
“You’ve got a long way ahead of you, Jack.”
Her tone wasn’t cruel, but it wasn’t soft either. It was honest. Unapologetic.
Devilish.
“You can’t let your heart feel sad just because of a little flutter. Crushes are shallow rivers—” she tapped her fingers lightly on the bed frame behind her, eyes gleaming “—but love… love is the kind of fire that doesn’t flicker. It devours.”
She didn’t lean forward. She didn’t have to.
Her words alone came forward, wrapping around his chest like invisible smoke.

Jack swallowed. Hard.
Lilith’s smile curled slightly higher, just enough to pierce through his poor, exposed crush.
“Don’t let a girl you barely know be the storm in your sky, Jack. Save your thunder for someone who can take the lightning.”
Then she blinked again, resting her head back against the headboard as if the moment had passed.
Sir Sparkleton beeped.
“Miss Lilith has activated ‘Dangerous Wisdom’ mode. Proceed with caution.”
Jack managed a nervous laugh.
And just like that, she closed her eyes, ending the conversation with ease.
As if she hadn’t just left a permanent burn on his soul.
And his mom?
She paused..Something about the way this girl spoke…
So composed. So deliberate. So old.
She wasn’t dramatic. She wasn’t loud. But there was something unsettling about her grace—like she wasn’t someone who belonged in a simple home like this.
Jack’s mother tilted her head slightly and gave a light smile, trying to brush off her strange thoughts.
“You sure don’t talk like most girls your age,” she said with a soft laugh, keeping her tone casual. “What are you, a poet or a spy?”
Lilith gave her a small, knowing smile, resting her head lightly back against the wood of the bed. “Neither,” she said simply. “Just someone who pays attention.”
“Hmph,” Jack’s mother mumbled under her breath, not pushing for more. But inside, her thoughts lingered.
This girl—
She wasn’t normal.
There was something about her that made you sit up a little straighter. Something that made you think twice before asking too many questions.
Jack’s mom had lived enough life to know: some people were raised by comfort, and some were forged by fire.
Lilith was the second kind.
She stood up, glancing at her son, then at the robot blinking quietly nearby.
“Well then,” she said with a smile, brushing off invisible dust from her dress. “You rest, dear. We’ll bring you something warm to eat soon.”
“Thank you,” Lilith said softly, her voice polite but not sweet. Never sweet.
As Jack’s mom walked toward the door, she glanced back one last time.
And thought silently to herself:
That girl’s eyes have seen storms.
I just hope my son doesn’t get caught in one.
Jack glanced at Lilith, who remained leaned back against the headboard, her eyes half-lidded in thought, her posture relaxed yet unreachable. She looked like someone who belonged to a different world entirely…untouchable, like a goddess in exile.
