Devilish secretary - Chapter 222
Chapter 222: Chapter 222 Argument (1)
Asher opened the door of the luxury black car and slid into the front seat, his expression lazy but sharp. He closed the door with a soft thud and turned to look at the driver.
The boy beside him looked young…maybe just twenty. He had the kind of beauty that didn’t seem real. His green eyes were bright yet unreadable, framed by long lashes that softened the sharpness of his face. High cheekbones, a straight nose, and perfectly sculpted lips gave him a look that felt almost divine. His dark hair fell lightly over his forehead, swaying slightly as he turned to glance at Asher, unreadable.
Asher grinned wide.
He leaned back in the seat and gave a thumbs-up. “Still same. Cool face. Boring inside,” he joked, his accent thick, words slightly clumsy.
The older boy didn’t react much. His eyes stayed ahead as he started the engine. “Still the same brat,” he replied calmly, voice low and smooth.
“You no smile ever?” Asher asked, still grinning. “Even machine smile more than you.”
“You talk too much.”
“Because you talk zero.”
They pulled into the road, the car moving like a silent shadow through the city.
Asher glanced at him again, more serious this time. “You grow again. Tall like giraffe. I look small now.”
“You don’t train,” the green-eyed boy replied, eyes still on the road. “You sleep all day.”
Asher clicked his tongue. “I train… little.” Then muttered, “Liar…”
The silence that followed was peaceful. Familiar. The kind only brothers could share…when no words were needed, but the bond was loud.
After a few minutes, Asher asked in a quieter voice, “You think… he believe?”
The green-eyed boy gave him a brief glance. “He already believe. But… he not know real you.”
Asher nodded slowly. “Good. I not ready he know.”
They drove into the deeper city, shadows falling over the car as if hiding them both.
Asher leaned his head on the window, voice soft. “We strange family, no?”
The older boy didn’t answer.

Next day, after enough teasing, touching, and bugging to nearly break his last thread of patience, Lilith finally convinced her human doll to let her return to the office.
Now, it was lunch break.
As Lilith walked into the cafeteria holding a tray with casual elegance, she didn’t even make it halfway before two blurs tackled her from either side.
“LILITHHHH!!”
Ava clung to her right arm, while Nova wrapped around the left..both nearly in tears, burying their faces against her like dramatic children.
“Oh my god, Lilith! You have. no idea how much we missed you!” Ava sniffled, pulling back to look at her like a long-lost sister had returned from war.
“We thought— We thought something terrible happened!” Nova added, his voice cracking as if he hadn’t just been complaining about the coffee machine ten minutes ago.
Lilith blinked, caught off guard, but a smile tugged at her lips.
“You two…” she said, shaking her head gently. “I was only gone for a few days.”
Nova gasped. “A FEW DAYS??? Do you know what kind of peace we had without boss? No yelling, no dark aura, no death threats… it was beautiful and terrifying! We thought the world was ending!”

Ava nodded furiously. “But it wasn’t the same without you. The lunch table was so boring!”
Lilith chuckled, her voice soft, “I missed you both too… though your dramatic welcome might break my ribs.”
“Okay… hehehe,” Ava giggled and gently pulled Lilith to sit between them. Nova quickly cleared the space like a loyal guard, placing her tray down as if it were royal treasure.
But Lilith could feel it…the silent stares all around the cafeteria. Whispers floating like feathers in the air.
“She’s the one…
That’s boss’s girlfriend, right?”
“I heard she went missing…
Wait, she looks completely fine. What kind of woman is she?”
Lilith stayed calm, her back straight, head held high, sipping her juice with an indifferent expression. But Ava was already leaning closer.
“Lilith? What happened to you? Did boss save you? Where did you go? Were you really missing? Is it true—?”
“Ava, breathe,” Nova muttered, though he looked just as curious, eyes wide.
Lilith sighed softly and gave a small, tired smile. “I was kind of… kidnapped. By some dangerous people. I escaped somehow… and a boy helped me. Later, your boss found me and brought me back safely.”
Their jaws dropped.
Ava gasped, eyes watering again. “Lilith! That’s horrible! Are you okay?? Were you hurt??”
Nova blinked. “That… sounds like an adventure!”
Ava smacked him on the arm. “Stupid! She must’ve been scared to death!”
“I was,” Lilith said, not denying it. But she smiled, that calm, unreadable smile she always wore. “But I’m safe now. That’s what matters.”
They both nodded.
“You’re really brave,” Ava whispered.
Nova added, “If it were me, I’d still be crying under a tree somewhere.”
Lilith had just returned to her desk, ready to work, when she heard the unmistakable sound of shouting echoing through the office hallway.
At first, she ignored it.
But then she heard that voice.
Sienna.
Lilith’s fingers froze midair. Her brows furrowed.
What now? she thought, standing up from her chair. She smoothed her blouse and walked out of her office space with the same calm confident face.
Well… if he fires me for interrupting company drama, he can sleep on the sofa tonight, she muttered inwardly.
She pushed open the glass door and walked into a storm.
Sienna was standing in middle with her usual crocodile tear expression, her eyes shining like she was the most pitiful woman in the world. On the other side, Hannah, Liam’s assistant, was standing straight, her face clearly annoyed and angry. Her brown eyes were filled with fire.
And behind them stood Liam, looking confused and frustrated, and of course, her human doll… Alexander, arms folded, silent like a volcano that hasn’t erupted yet.
“I can’t believe you deleted my file just to make me look bad in front of everyone!” Hannah’s voice was sharp, but she didn’t cry. She was standing her ground.
“Sebby! Lee!” Sienna suddenly cried with her sad voice, “Don’t believe her! She told me she’d kill me just because Liam liked me!”
Liam’s eyes widened. “What?! Hannah, did you really say that?”
“What?! No!” Hannah shouted, looking shocked, “I never said anything like that”
