Chapter 243: Chapter 243 Lilith childhood (1)
“Brooooooooooo!” Ethan dragged out the word like a man betrayed by fate itself, bursting into the living room where Alexander was quietly sipping black coffee like some royal villain plotting the downfall of the universe.
Alexander didn’t even blink. His leg crossed over the other, arms resting on the armrest, gaze focused out the window as if the drama happening two feet from him didn’t exist.
“Why is this robot following me non-stop!?” Ethan cried again, throwing himself onto the sofa like a heartbroken prince. “He’s everywhere, Bro! He was outside the shower. He folded my socks! And just now…just now he had the audacity to scold me for throwing my wet towel on the bed!”
Alexander finally tilted his head a little but still said nothing. He took another calm sip of his coffee, the silence around him louder than Ethan’s complaints.
Ethan grabbed a pillow and hugged it like it was the only loyal friend he had left in this cruel world.
“I used to be the one who irritated people,” he mumbled dramatically, “I was the master of chaos… the King of mood-killers! But now… now I’m being emotionally bullied by a shiny tin can with blinking red eyes and a perfect sock-folding technique.”
From behind the wall, a robotic voice replied calmly, “Correction. Sir Ethan’s towel caused moisture damage to silk sheets. Sir Ethan is 87.9% irresponsible.”
“Did you hear that!?” Ethan pointed toward the hallway. “He’s calculating my irresponsibility rate! What kind of judgmental junk is this??!”
Still, Alexander said nothing.
Because this was, in fact, very entertaining.
Ethan finally turned to him, desperate. “Bro. Please. Say something. Save me. Tell him to go attach himself to someone else. Maybe Rose! She likes him!”
At that moment, Alexander finally looked at him with a calm, expressionless face and said in his smooth voice, “I’m sorry. But I think he’s your soulmate now.”
Ethan stared at him in betrayal.
“No… Don’t say that… Take that back…”
Alexander sipped his coffee again. “Too late.”
And somewhere in the hallway, Sir Sparkleton updated his mission log:
Target: Ethan.
Status: Emotional rehabilitation in progress.
Next goal: Teach proper towel etiquette.
Ethan clutched the pillow tighter.
“This countryside vacation is cursed.”
Just when Ethan thought he had suffered enough emotional damage, another victim entered the scene.
Rose.
She had dressed in her cutest Pink dress, styled her hair in soft curls, and even applied a light peach lip gloss, all for him.
Not for any human boy.
But for the emotionally unavailable, sarcasm-loaded, shiny-headed Sir Sparkleton.
She spotted him outside the hallway standing near the potted plant—probably scanning the soil’s pH levels like it was national security. Her heart skipped. She took a deep breath, muttering to herself, “You got this, Rose. You’ve watched romance dramas. This is your moment.”
She approached quietly… then suddenly wrapped her arms around him in a surprise hug from behind.
“Sir Sparkleton! You look shiny today!” she said sweetly.
But the robot did not flinch. Did not respond. Not even a blink in his glowing red eyes.

Instead, in a flat voice, he said, “Miss Rose. Please maintain 2-feet distance. I am in surveillance mode.”
Rose froze.
Like a rejected flower in the snow.
Her lip trembled. She slowly released him and stepped back, her hand still hovering midair like a character in a sad anime.
“You—you’re ignoring me?” she asked in disbelief. “Why?? I bring you polish wipes! I defend you when Ethan bro calls you tin can! I even downloaded you a charging song playlist!”
Sir Sparkleton did not turn his head.
“Emotion detected: desperation. Status: green flag overload. System retreating for safety.”
And with that, he turned around completely and walked away toward the opposite direction, leaving Rose standing alone in the hallway, utterly heartbroken.
From the living room, Ethan watched the whole scene unfold with dead eyes and muttered under his breath, “Oh, someone got rejected.”
Rose turned slowly toward Ethan. “He… walked away from me like I’m some last season’s charger cable.”
Ethan pushed himself up with a grunt, lumbered over, and clapped her on the shoulder like a disappointed coach. “Welcome to the pain, sister. This is what it’s like to live with the glittering curse of Sir Sparkleton.”
Rose looked at the retreating figure of the robot and sighed. “Do you think… if I learn how to fold towels properly… he’ll love me back?” She overheard Ethan and her brother talking.
And somewhere far away, Sir Sparkleton quietly updated his mission log again:
Mission: Emotional Neutrality Maintained
Target: Rose.
Status: Too emotionally available. Avoid.
Reminder: Report new danger levels to Master Sebastian.

Lilith returned from her room looking effortlessly divine. She wore a royal blue dress, casual in cut but so elegant that it complimented her every movement like the fabric knew who it belonged to. Her hair was tied in a loose bun, soft strands framing her face. She didn’t try too hard, yet she looked like a goddess who had just descended from a quiet star.
The long wooden dinner table was already set with ceramic dishes, warm lights overhead, and the scent of freshly made food filling the air. The meal was simple but special. Made entirely from organic vegetables picked from the nearby farm and seasoned with hand-ground spices, the flavors were deep and comforting. Rose kept smiling as she chewed. Even Ethan, who usually cracked jokes during dinner, was quiet, enjoying each bite.
Arthur Carter, who had been watching Lilith closely with grandfatherly eyes, finally set his spoon down and asked gently, “Lilith… what about your parents, child? I don’t mean to bring up sadness. I just wish to know more about you.”
The room went still.
Lilith gave a small smile but didn’t speak right away. She gently placed her spoon down, her eyes lowering for a second. “I don’t have any parents,” she said simply, her voice soft.
Arthur looked surprised but didn’t interrupt.
“Where did you grow up?” he asked kindly. “Which orphanage?”
Lilith hesitated. Her fingers gently twisted the hem of her sleeve. She bit her bottom lip…just a little and then looked up, expression calm but eyes distant. “The original orphanage I was taken to… was destroyed. Some industrial construction took over the area, and many of the children were adopted quickly. But I wasn’t.”
Silence.
“I stayed on the street for a while,” she said, voice steady. “I begged sometimes… did little jobs…cleaning stalls, washing dishes, collecting plastic. Anything that would give me a few coins. It wasn’t a pretty life.”
Rose’s eyes filled with tears. She looked down at her plate, not wanting Lilith to see.
Nova and Ava looked shocked, hearts aching.
“I didn’t expect help,” Lilith continued, still smiling faintly. “So I helped myself. Learned about freelancing. Tried online jobs. Took a lot of rejections, but eventually… it worked. I saved enough to buy a small apartment.”
Arthur Carter’s hands trembled on the table. “You… went through all that alone?” he asked, barely above a whisper.
Lilith just nodded. “But I’m not alone now, am I?”
Across the table, Alexander hadn’t spoken once. He sat silently, eyes locked on her. His fingers tapped slowly on the glass. His Lilith—his strong, brilliant Lilith, who rose from broken roads to shine like moonlight.
And in his heart, he made a silent promise:
She will never walk through pain again. Not while I’m breathing.
