Devilish secretary - Chapter 260
Chapter 260: Chapter 260 Star
Ethan laughed under his breath, remembering her whacking him.”You enjoyed that part too much,” he whispered teasingly.
Tara smiled but kept explaining, her voice even softer, more serious.
“And the sacred items… they believe when you exchange them, you’re exchanging your burdens too. Sharing each other’s happiness and pain for life.”
Ethan fell silent.
Something about the way she said it—so quietly, without jokes, without forcing anything made the words feel heavier.
Real.
Tara lowered her eyes shyly, her fingers brushing the edge of the red cloth binding them.
“And the last ritual…” she whispered, “tying us together…”
She swallowed softly.
“It means… our souls are now tied too.”
Ethan stared at her for a long moment.
The noise of the world around them—the shouting, the music, the clapping faded into nothing.
There was only Tara in front of him, small and brave, explaining old traditions with such care.
Ethan felt his throat tighten strangely.
Just as Tara finished whispering about the last ritual and Ethan was still standing there frozen with a thousand emotions tangled inside him,
something unexpected happened.
A little boy from the crowd suddenly pointed his tiny finger at Ethan, his eyes widening in shock.
“I KNOW HIM!!” the boy shouted loudly. “HE’S A MOVIE STAR!!”
The drums stopped.
The dancers paused mid-step.
Everyone turned their heads sharply toward Ethan.
Tara blinked up at him in confusion. “…You’re a movie star?” she whispered.
Ethan coughed awkwardly, tugging at the collar of his colorful tribal outfit.
“Um… a little. Maybe. Big roles… here and there…”
Before he could finish, the entire village erupted in excited chatter.
People rushed toward the platform, surrounding him.
Old men, children, women carrying flower baskets..all pushing closer, smiling, whispering, pointing at him.
Even Tara’s father, who had been ready to marry her off with a knife at his belt yesterday was now looking at Ethan like he had just met a king.
Tara’s mother clasped her hands together excitedly, her eyes sparkling.
“A real movie star! In our village!” she gasped.

“Our daughter is so blessed!”
The old priest even wiped his eyes dramatically, saying something about “blessings of the heavens.”
And then—
the questions began.
“Are you famous?”
“Are you rich?”
“How many movies have you made?”
“Can you act here for us?”
“Can we see you on TV?”
“Do you know any fighting skills like kung-fu?”
“Can you fly a plane?”
Ethan was completely overwhelmed.
His hands went up, trying to calm the crowd. “No, no, no! I’m not that famous! I just did some small parts! Extras! Commercials!”
But no one listened.
The villagers had already decided he was a legendary hero sent to them.
After a few more chaotic minutes, someone finally realized it wasn’t practical to keep the bride and groom tied up like gift-wrapped vegetables.
With great ceremony, the old priest came forward and untied the thick red cloth binding Ethan and Tara together.
The moment she was free, Tara slipped away quickly into the crowd, her heart still pounding from everything.
She didn’t have to search long rushing toward her from between the villagers was a young girl, her face streaked with tears and dust.
“Tara!”
Tara gasped and opened her arms just in time as her best friend, Diana, crashed into her for a tight hug.
Both girls clung to each other, tears streaming down their faces without even realizing.
“I thought they caught you,” Diana cried, squeezing Tara tighter. “I thought you…”
Tara shook her head, her own throat tight with emotion. “I thought I would never see you again,” she whispered back.
For a few minutes, they stayed like that, quietly crying in each other’s arms, relief washing over them after all the fear, the running, the hiding.
Diana pulled back slightly, wiping her eyes quickly, and looked at Tara’s red tribal gown.
“You’re… you’re really married now,” she said softly, half laughing, half crying.
Tara gave a small shaky laugh too, glancing across the crowd where Ethan was still surrounded by villagers.
“Yeah… somehow.”
Meanwhile, Ethan stood frozen in the middle of the village like a poor confused animal caught in headlights.
Around him were dozens of villagers—children tugging his sleeves, old grandmas poking his arms admiringly, men slapping his back like he had just returned victorious from war.
Everyone was asking questions at once.
“When you act in movies, do you have to act every time? Even if you don’t feel like it?”
“Is it true movie stars eat only golden food?”
“Can you cry on command? Show us!!”
“How many palaces do you own?”
“Can you do flying kicks like in kung-fu movies?”
“Are you friends with the President?”
Ethan stood there, blinking rapidly, absolutely overwhelmed.
His mind kept spinning one thought: “Yesterday, I was single, minding my business.
Now I’m married, in a village with chickens, old men, and kids pulling my pants,
being forced to answer questions like I’m Superman!”
He wiped his face with his sleeve tiredly.
“What even is my life now…” he muttered under his breath.
After a few more painful minutes of being poked, pulled, and questioned endlessly, Ethan finally realized the terrible truth —
they weren’t going to let him leave.
Every time he tried to move away, another villager blocked him…asking questions, shaking his hand, pulling him back like he was the village’s biggest treasure.
Accepting his fate, Ethan sighed dramatically He sat down like a tired king, resting one arm over his knee, and looked at the crowd gathering excitedly around him.
“Alright, alright,” he said, lifting his hand like a teacher calming noisy students. “If you all want to know about my glorious career… I’ll tell you.”
The villagers clapped excitedly and sat down cross-legged at his feet. Even Tara’s father leaned in, curious like a kid.
Tara, watching from a distance with Diana, crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
Meanwhile, Ethan wore his most serious expression and began:
“My biggest movie was Bloodstorm, where I played the lead role—Commander Drake—the man who saved the world from invasion.”
The villagers gasped.
Even the chickens nearby seemed to stop clucking for a second.
Ethan continued proudly, tapping his chest. “The movie made two hundred million dollars worldwide.”
Someone in the crowd clapped loudly.
Another shouted, “Two hundred million?! He’s richer than the king!”
