Devilish secretary - Chapter 273
Chapter 273: Chapter 273 Nina Accident
Rose manor, Lilith’s room
Lilith called Nina, just to check in but instead of hearing a cheerful voice, she heard a shaken breath.
“Lilith… you weren’t answering. The director waited. But he replaced the role. He said we can’t delay the shoot.”
Lilith’s brows pulled together. “What?”
“They picked someone else. She’s good. But she—” Nina stopped. Her voice lowered. “I think she hates me.”
A beat of silence.
“She pretended to be friendly, but during the flying wire rehearsal… she tried to push me.”
Lilith stood up, the chair behind her scraping against the floor.
“She nearly made me fall, Lilith. And I did fall. She timed it so it looked like an accident. If Knox hadn’t noticed and pulled the wire last second… I don’t know.”
There was a pause.
“I’m okay. Just a little bruised. But the way she looked at me… it wasn’t normal.”
“I’m sorry, Lilith… I couldn’t save your role,” Nina’s voice cracked on the phone. “I know you’re going through a lot right now… Knox told me about your situation. About everything that happened because of your boyfriend’s grandmother.”
She looked out the window, lips pressed tightly together. Her voice stayed silent, but her thoughts weren’t.
Lilith frowned. This girl—Nina had been almost pushed off the wire during a shoot. She could’ve been seriously injured. And yet, she hadn’t taken any action. No formal complaint. No confrontation. She just sounded… sorry.
And Knox… why didn’t he do anything to the actress who harmed Nina?
That question kept circling in her mind.
Lilith exhaled slowly, her voice calm but firm on the phone.
“Take care of yourself. I’ll come meet you in the afternoon.”
She ended the call before Nina could respond.
She placed the phone down and walked back to her bed. The soft sheets were untouched, the morning sun falling in slanted lines through the window. She pulled her laptop onto her lap, her fingers moving fast as she searched for the latest updates.
And there it was.
Nina Jones injured during wire stunt rehearsal.
The headlines flashed across every major page. Fan forums were already flooded. Videos of the moment were being clipped and shared. People were feeling sorry for her. Some were asking questions. But no one mentioned the girl who had caused it.
Lilith’s eyes narrowed.
She opened a new tab and typed the name of the replacement.
Clara Venn.
Photos popped up…recent red carpet events, behind-the-scenes interviews. Clara had recently become famous after landing several roles as the second female lead in successful movies. Always near the spotlight. Never quite in it.
And now… she had taken Lilith’s role.
Lilith stared at one of the pictures—Clara posing confidently in a fitted red dress, surrounded by flashing lights.
That’s when the door opened with a soft click.

Gray walked in, straightening his cuff as he entered. He had just returned from a meeting—still in a suit, his tie loosened, his hair a little messy in the way that made him look even more infuriatingly perfect. He was heading toward her vanity, reaching to take off his watch, but paused.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“What are you so interested in… the entertainment industry for?” he asked, casually at first.
Lilith didn’t bother turning the screen. He could already see.
He walked closer, curious at first until he saw what she was actually looking at.
Clara. Bikini shots. Magazine covers.
His face changed in a second. Calm faded. Something sharper slipped through.
“Why are you staring at other people’s bodies?” he asked, his voice quieter now, but low and direct. There was no joking in his tone.
Lilith looked up slowly, her smirk lazy and dangerous.
This man.
She raised one eyebrow, tilting her head just slightly. “Are you jealous?”
Gray took another step toward the bed, one hand in his pocket, the other gently brushing his hair back.
He leaned down a little, meeting her eyes.
“If you want to look at anyone’s body, Lili…” he said, his voice deep, “you should be looking at mine.”
Her lips parted slightly, and she couldn’t stop the quiet laugh that slipped out.
“Oh really?”
He didn’t blink.
“I’m serious. If you’re curious—if you want to compare—just say it. I’ll take my shirt off right now.”
She looked at him, amused.
Still sitting, she folded the laptop shut and placed it beside her. “You’re that bothered?”
He slowly placed his knee on the edge of the bed, closing the space between them. “Of course I’m bothered. You’re mine. I don’t like sharing your eyes.”
Her breath caught for a second—not because of what he said, but because of how he looked when he said it.
Calm, possessive, beautiful.
He brought his face close to hers, enough that she could smell the faint trace of his cologne.
“Come on,” he whispered. “You want to look, don’t you?”
Lilith’s fingers curled slightly into the blanket beneath her.
And just when he leaned in, lips nearly touching hers—
Her phone buzzed beside her pillow.
She let out a soft laugh—not at the message, but at his face.
Gray was sitting beside her now, on the edge of the bed in his expensive black suit, looking every bit the powerful, handsome man he was supposed to be. Except right now… he wasn’t acting like one.
He was sulking.
Lilith picked up her phone, still amused, and checked the notification.
It was Ava.
She opened the message and blinked in confusion for a second before a smile curled at the edge of her lips.
A photo of a large, grumpy cat with a tiny pink bow on its head stared back at her. It was sitting on a windowsill, looking personally offended by the world.
“Saw this beauty at my neighbor’s house. Thought of you. You give off cat-person energy.”
Lilith stared at it for a beat, then gave a small laugh and sent back a simple thumbs-up.
She wasn’t really a cat person… but somehow, Ava wasn’t entirely wrong.
When she looked back up, Gray was still there, still in the same place on the bed but now with his arms crossed, gaze turned away, lips set in the most dramatic pout she had ever seen on a grown man in a suit.
She blinked once.
Then bit her lip to stop the grin.
Was he really—
“Are you sulking?” she asked, soft and playful.
He didn’t answer.
“Because I smiled at a cat?”
Still no answer.
She leaned in a little, voice dropping just enough to tease. “Would it help if I showed you the cat?”
He slowly looked at her. Cold. Betrayed. Like she had just cheated on him with a furball.
Lilith laughed again and gently nudged his arm. “Or…”
She tapped his wrist with her finger.
“…I can look at your abs and rate them on a ten-point scale?”
