Chapter 274: Chapter 274 Someone trying to seduce Human doll

His head turned sharply. Their eyes met.

And that was it.

Without a word, he moved calm, confident, and charming as ever. His fingers reached up to the top button of his suit.

Click.

He popped it open.

Lilith froze slightly, blinking.

Oh.

“You wanted to look?” Gray said, voice low, eyes locked on hers. “Go ahead. I’m right here.”

Her breath caught, just for a second.

He reached the second button.

Lilith’s hand twitched on the blanket.

This man was seriously going to and just before he reached the third button—

Her phone buzzed again.

“Oh… Assistant Quinn,” Lilith said with a small smile, picking up the phone, still very much enjoying the storm brewing on her human doll’s face.

Gray’s eyes narrowed slightly, lips pressing into a straight line as he watched her with the expression of someone who had just been replaced by a spreadsheet.

She shifted slightly under the blanket, her voice smooth. “Yes, I didn’t come to the office today. Handling things from home.”

She glanced sideways at Gray, who was still sitting beside her on the bed in his half-unbuttoned suit, looking like he was ready to throw the phone out the window. His sharp jaw tightened even more as she casually brushed her hair back and continued the call, as if nothing about his dramatic striptease had just happened.

“Yes, the documents should be in the second folder I emailed yesterday. Check the attachments again. If there’s an error, I’ll resend them myself.”

She was calm. Poised. Glowing in the morning light.

Gray, meanwhile, was watching her like a man personally betrayed by Google Drive.

She ended the call with a soft, professional “Alright, let me know if there’s anything else,” and placed the phone back on the bed.

Then, she turned to him fully.

He hadn’t moved. Still sitting there with his tie half loosened, his shirt slightly open, chest rising and falling like he had so many things to say but no idea where to start.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, slow and amused.

“Human doll,” she said sweetly, her lips twitching. “Why do you look like someone just stole your spotlight?”

He didn’t answer.

He just stared.

Because in his world, there were only two types of emergencies:

Real ones.

Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".

And ones where Lilith’s eyes weren’t on him.

“Why don’t you continue what you started… hmm?” Lilith said, her voice low, teasing, dripping with lazy confidence as she tilted her head and looked straight at him.

Her lips curved, her eyes dark with amusement, and Gray… oh, he was seconds away from losing his sanity.

Gray didn’t answer with words.

He reached for her phone and with a flick of his fingers, switched it off. The soft click sounded like a challenge.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, amused.

He was already three buttons deep into his shirt from earlier. Now, he went for the rest—quietly, slowly. The fourth. The fifth. Until the shirt hung open, revealing every inch of toned skin and chiseled lines beneath.

His suit jacket was already tossed onto the chair.

Now his shirt followed, slipping off his shoulders in one smooth motion and falling to the floor.

Lilith didn’t blink. She couldn’t.

Her eyes moved over him without shame—over every muscle, every sharp collarbone, every little mark that made him real, human, hers. Her throat felt dry, her fingers curled slightly over the bedsheet.

And Gray leaned forward, placing one hand on the bed beside her hip, the other sliding behind her as if he was about to pull her in.

His face was close. Too close.

Her heart gave a single hard thump.

But just as his lips were about to brush her cheek—

Knock knock.

They both stilled.

Gray’s eye twitched.

Lilith blinked.

“Miss Lilith,” came the robotic cheer of Sir Sparkleton from outside the door, “I have prepared a fresh cup of coffee. The temperature is currently 58.2 degrees Celsius. It dropped by 0.6 while I stood here, but I compensated by adjusting the milk foam consistency.”

A pause.

“Shall I bring it in now?”

Gray slowly—very slowly—stood up straight.

The muscles in his jaw tightened.

Lilith pressed a hand over her mouth, shaking with silent laughter.

Gray didn’t say a word. He simply turned, picked up his shirt, and walked to the washroom with the pride of a man choosing peace over prison time.

The door clicked behind him.

Lilith leaned back against the headboard, her eyes gleaming with victory.

Tsk.

Pitiful doll.

***

Afternoon.

Her human doll still annoyingly perfect in his dark suit and calm expression—drove her quietly through the city. Lilith sat beside him, arms folded, dark sunglasses covering her eyes.

They were on their way to see Nina.

Nina had been admitted to a private hospital. Lilith had already informed her she was coming, and Nina had sent the floor number and ward details ahead of time.

As they stepped through the glass doors of the hospital, the soft scent of antiseptic mixed with fresh flowers filled the air. Gray walked beside her, tall and composed as always. His presence almost too eye-catching in a place like this.

They entered the elevator together.

The doors began to close slowly.

But just before they could shut someone slipped in.

A woman in a fitted white dress, heels clicking, soft perfume trailing behind her.

She smiled politely, as if she had simply caught the elevator just in time.

But Lilith’s eyes narrowed.

Clara.

The one responsible for Nina being in this hospital bed in the first place.

Clara didn’t seem to notice Lilith right away, her gaze had already landed on Gray. Her expression changed instantly. Bright eyes. Sweet smile. Lips pressing together like she didn’t mean to be charming, but was born that way.

She looked at him once, then again, slower this time.

And then it happened.

She stumbled…very slightly, very gracefully right into Gray’s side.

“Oh—I’m so sorry!” she said with a soft laugh, placing one hand lightly on his arm.

The other pressed against his chest.

Lilith’s jaw tensed.

Her eyes flicked down, cold and sharp, watching Clara’s fingers linger just a bit too long on Gray’s shirt. The flirt was soft, but obvious. Innocent but practiced. The kind of move a woman used when she thought no one else was watching.

Clara didn’t think they were together.

She thought she had just walked into an elevator with a gorgeous, available man.
