Chapter 281: Chapter 281 Scandal
Lilith had become busy these days. Her schedule was filled from morning to evening working as a secretary, replying to emails, arranging files, attending meetings beside him, and helping whenever he needed her. She didn’t complain. She quietly handled everything she was asked to do. There wasn’t much time to think, and that was probably a good thing. It had been Gray for the last one week. Just him.

She sometimes missed the others but she couldn’t say that aloud. She knew if she did, it would damage something delicate.

So she let things be. Let Gray do whatever he wanted. Anyway, it wasn’t like she couldn’t handle it. They were all the same… except for their personalities. And Gray was clingy and expressive. Right now, that’s who stayed.

Nina had asked her recently if she was ready for the film role. To be honest, Lilith wasn’t too interested. Her heart didn’t react to it anymore. Unless something really caught her attention, she didn’t see the point in Acting. She liked her quiet routine. Even though she never said it out loud, a small part of her felt like her life had gone too quiet lately.

And somewhere else, Nova was still questioning life.

He hadn’t forgotten the picnic day.

That one day when his boss usually cold, serious, unreadable had become… friendly. Carefree. Like a normal human. Like someone who could laugh without guilt. Nova had stared at him the entire time, heart fully believing that maybe, just maybe, he had found a new buddy. Someone he could call boss and best friend in the same breath.

But now?

Now his boss had gone back to being cold again.

Quiet. Formal. Distant.

Nova had told Ethan about it, and to his surprise, Ethan had felt the same. They both had been confused for days.

“Maybe he’s bipolar,” Nova whispered one evening while sipping his juice.

Ethan didn’t deny it.

They just sat quietly.

Still wondering what changed.

Sienna was furious. She had spent the last month doing everything she could to please Liam…waiting outside his office with warm coffee, smiling sweetly at every opportunity, dressing up in every color he ever complimented someone else on just to get close. And what did she get? Nothing. No warmth. No interest. Not even a single smile that reached his eyes.

In fact, the more effort she put, the more it felt like he was disgusted by her. Hmph! If she had chased her Sebby during all this time instead, maybe she would’ve already been pregnant with his child by now. That thought made her eyes narrow coldly. Enough was enough. She would stop running after Liam and return to her Sebby. After all, Sebastian was rich, handsome, powerful and clearly tired of that emotionless Lilith. It was only a matter of time before he remembered who truly suited him.

Sienna smiled to herself, already imagining herself walking beside him, her hand in his, her belly softly rounded from carrying his heir, her status finally above everyone.

She decided she would go to the company today. She still had her job. And from there, she would work her magic. A little seduction here and there… who knows what could happen in the elevator, or inside his office after hours.

But life didn’t go as smoothly as her fantasy.

When she arrived, dressed in soft beige silk with subtle makeup and her expensive heels, the guards didn’t let her in.

She was stunned.

“Do you know who I am?” she hissed, trying not to let her voice rise. “I work here!”

But they stood still. Emotionless.

Something inside her snapped. If soft begging wouldn’t work, then the world would see her tears.

She dropped to the floor slowly, gracefully and let out a delicate sob. “I didn’t come all these days because… because Grandma Bria died and I couldn’t breathe properly from the grief!” she cried, her voice shaking. “And yet… her own grandson doesn’t care about her death! He’s off having an affair with his secretary while I—the arranged fiancée—am not even allowed inside!”

Her words were perfectly loud, just enough to gather attention.

Just as planned.

People stopped. Staff peeked from inside. Even a few pedestrians slowed down.

And not far behind, the paparazzi she had hired began recording everything—the sobbing, the dramatic fall to the ground. One reporter leaned in to catch clearer audio while another captured her from the angle she rehearsed in the mirror this morning.

It was all going exactly how she wanted.

Because if Sebastian wouldn’t look at her with love…

Then he’d be forced to look at her with damage control.

It didn’t take long.

The video went viral within hours.

Clips of Sienna sobbing outside Carter Corp’s main building flooded social media. Hashtags began trending. #InjusticeToFiancée #GrandmaBriaLegacy #CarterScandal. The public, hungry for drama and soft tragedies, latched on with open arms. And soon, people began asking the same thing—Wasn’t Lilith the girlfriend of Sebastian Carter? The same Lilith who mysteriously disappeared before the Bria incident? Rumors had circulated for week that she was kidnapped, held against her will… Sienna had brought a new version to the table.

Sienna sat in the interview chair, wearing a pale blue dress and very light makeup to appear natural. Her hair tied into a loose bun, with a tissue clutched in her hand. She cried in between words, voice trembling just enough.

“I know,” she said softly, dabbing her eyes, “I know that what Grandma Bria did was wrong… what happened to Stella and her best friend was… unforgivable.” She sniffled. “But people forget she was a grandmother. She loved her grandson more than anything. She just lost control. She wasn’t evil. She was… blinded by love.”

Her voice cracked at the end, perfect for the camera.

“And she always cared for me. She used to call me her sweet girl. She fulfilled every small need I had. I—I can’t forget that, even after everything. So yes, I cried when she died. I really did.”

The camera zoomed in on her face as she softly looked away, pretending to be overwhelmed by emotion.

People were moved.

Sympathy began to pour in. Supporters started defending her, calling her brave, kind-hearted, forgiving. Comment sections filled with comments like “She’s so strong,” and “She deserves better.”

But she wasn’t done yet.

Her lips trembled again as she held up another photo.

“And about Lilith…” she said softly. “I was shocked. The world believed she was missing. Kidnapped. But no… she was on vacation.”

The screen showed a blurry photo of Lilith riding a bicycle on a island with unknown man cycling beside her, his face partially visible but definitely not Sebastian.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Sienna whispered, wiping a tear that never truly fell. “While everyone was worried about her… Lilith was… having fun. With another man.”

She lowered her head and just like that She flipped the whole story.
