Chapter 292: Chapter 292 Conditions
“Sebby, she—” Ana began, her voice shaking now, trying to salvage her position.

“Shut up!” Alexander snapped, his voice louder than ever before. It wasn’t just anger, it was hurt. Deep and decades-old. “When you had to speak, you didn’t! Where was your voice when that old lady shamed me and Rose? When I was locked in a room for hours? When I was called weak, useless, spineless?” His voice trembled now, cracking under everything he had buried. “Where was your voice then, Mom?” He said the word like it burned. “And now, after all this time, you show up just to question the only person who ever stayed?”

His breath was uneven, pain radiating from his chest, not his head.

Lilith leaned closer to him, her hand brushing lightly against his arm, and whispered in his ear, just low enough for only him to hear. “Calm down,” she murmured, her voice soft. And strangely, it worked. His fists loosened just slightly.

Then Lilith stepped forward.

She walked toward Ana..calm, cold, composed. Her steps didn’t falter once. And when she stopped just inches away, she leaned close, her voice dropping into ice. “You think I’m not worthy of your son,” she whispered. “That’s fine. Give me just three months. Just three months… and I’ll raise my status so high beside him that no one will dare raise their voice against his choice.”

Alexander flinched.

He had heard her.

And he hated it.

“You don’t have to, Lilith,” he said quickly. “You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I already know who you are.”

But Lilith only raised her hand, silencing him. Not coldly but with pride in her eyes.

She turned to Ana again and smiled. “What do you say?”

Ana looked into Lilith’s eyes. There was no weakness in them. No plea. Just a quiet, dangerous confidence that made even the older woman pause. Finally, Ana nodded once, folding her arms. “Fine. If you rise to his level in three months—famous enough, powerful enough then I’ll accept it.”

But then she added, her voice sharper, “You’ll do it on your own. No help from my son. No using his name, his money, his company. You can’t even call yourself his girlfriend during this time.”

Outside the door, Rose stood frozen with her back to the wall, eyes wide. Loki sat on her shoulder like a soft shadow, ears perked. Rose whispered, “I believe Sister Lilith can do anything…”

And Loki his eyes shining nodded vigorously, tail swishing proudly.

Back inside, Ana delivered the final blow.

“You also can’t stay with my son.”

Alexander’s face darkened instantly. “Mom, you’re going too far,” he said through gritted teeth. “This is insane—”

“No,” Ana said quietly. “Let her prove her love.”

Lilith didn’t hesitate.

She nodded once. Calm. Strong. Her gaze didn’t leave Ana’s.

“If you don’t succeed,” Ana added, “I’ll arrange his blind date the day after three months end.”

Lilith’s lips curled faintly. “That won’t be necessary.”

As Ana turned and left the ward, heels clicking down the hallway, Rose quickly fled in the opposite direction.

Inside the room, silence stretched again.

Alexander looked at Lilith.

His chest rose and fell slowly.

So many emotions flickered in his eyes…grief, Anger, heartbreak, love.

And something that hurt more than anything else.

The fear of losing her.

“You… want to stay away from me?” Alexander asked quietly, the words barely leaving his lips. His heart wasn’t ready to let her walk away, not even for a day. His fingers curled slightly over the sheets as he looked up at her, his voice low, unsure. A hint of fear lingered behind his calm mask. The kind only she could see.

Lilith stepped forward slowly, the soft sway of her dress whispering against her thighs. Her heels made no sound, but her presence felt like thunder. She smiled, the corner of her lips curving into something unreadable. “She said, ‘You can’t stay with my son’.” Her eyes sparkled, and her voice dropped just slightly as she tilted her head. “But she didn’t say we can’t meet, right?”

Alexander blinked.

And then he felt it. Her fingers brushed against his cheek, her hands cupping his face so softly it made his chest ache. He leaned into her palms, like a man dying of thirst finally feeling rain. His eyes fluttered closed for a second as he rubbed against her hands, his world narrowing down to just the scent of her skin and the way her thumb brushed across his cheekbone.

“I love challenges,” she whispered, leaning in close, her breath brushing against his lips. “And I felt this thrilling sensation run through me the moment she said those words.”

Her voice dropped lower, silk sliding into shadow.

“I’d love it even more… when you’re not allowed to meet me, and you come sneaking in…”

Her lips nearly touched his ear now.

“…forbidden tastes of that,” she whispered, like a secret wrapped in sin.

Alexander’s throat went dry.

His mind short-circuited just enough to imagine it, sneaking into hotels at night, kissing her in elevators, hidden make outs. His heartbeat was racing before he even realized it.

His lips curled into a smirk. God, she’s dangerous.

“All right then,” he said in a low voice, eyes still fixed on her mouth. “But take Sir Sparkleton with you.”

Lilith raised an eyebrow.

“That’s my gift from us to you,” he said softly.

Lilith chuckled, clearly amused, and nodded once.

Behind his polite smile, Alexander thought silently…

Sir Sparkleton… record and capture everything. Every. Damn. Thing.

Lilith sat on the edge of the bed in Rose Manor, folding her clothes neatly into an open suitcase beside her.

Silk blouses, coats, heels, books, all lined with the soft scent of her. During these days, this place had slowly become her second home. She had her skincare here, her favorite clothes, even her pillow. But now she had to leave, for real.

As she reached for another folded dress, she heard the door click open behind her.

Alexander stepped in quietly, watching her pack. For a moment, he said nothing, just stared at the woman who had filled his days with peace, and now, was getting ready to walk away because of someone else’s conditions.

Then, slowly, he walked over.
