Chapter 298: Chapter 298 Do you want me to help you?
After dinner, the night settled into a quiet hush. The little house smelled of fresh wood and soap, the air still carrying the crisp scent of recent cleaning. Outside, the world held its breath—crickets sang in the distant dark, and the occasional car horn drifted in from the road, fading like a half-remembered lullaby.
Lilith stood by the sink, rinsing the last plate, her sleeves pushed up, hair now dry and tied into a loose braid. She looked over her shoulder when she didn’t hear movement from the sofa.
Alexander was still sitting there.
Looking at her.
Like he was waiting for the world to give him a reason to stay longer.
“Take your medicine,” she said, drying her hands.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly caught.
“I don’t have—”
She was already calling, her voice cool but soft. “Sir Sparkleton.”
The small robot rolled in from the hallway, looking far too proud for someone under 2 feet tall.
“YES, MISS LILITH. MEDICATION READY FOR MASTER’S CONSUMPTION.”
From his chest compartment, he produced a sealed pack of tablets and a tiny bottle of water.
Alexander stared.
“You gave him my meds?”
Lilith crossed her arms and raised one brow. “You forget everything unless someone makes you do it.”
He took the medicine from Sparkleton slowly, shaking his head with a sigh. “Next thing I know, he’ll be brushing my teeth.”
“IF REQUIRED, I HAVE TOOTHBRUSH MODULE.” Sparkleton beeped proudly.
Alexander groaned.
Lilith turned away to hide her smile.
But before she could step into the hallway, he called softly, “Lili.”
She paused.
He stood now, walking to her slowly, stopping just inches away. “I don’t… want to go tonight.”
She met his eyes, calm as always.
“But you have work in the morning.”
He looked down, just for a second, then back at her.
“I have you here tonight.”
Her breath caught, just slightly but she didn’t let it show.
She stepped aside.
“…Then stay.”

The bed was small.
Too small for someone like Alexander Carter, who was used to sprawling mattresses and cloud-soft pillows.
But right now It felt perfect. Because Lilith was in it.
Curled up against him, her body tucked so close they were practically tangled—legs brushing, her thigh resting lightly over his. His arm cradled her from beneath, her head nestled against the crook of his shoulder, and her fingers…
Her fingers were playing with his hair.
Soft. Lazy strokes. Twisting strands gently, running them between her fingers like silk.
Alexander lay there with his eyes half-closed, breathing slow. His other hand was on her back, thumb tracing small, quiet circles against the fabric of her clothes.
“What are you going to do, Lili?” he asked, voice thick with sleep. His head tilted slightly so he could catch her gaze.
Her fingers paused.
A slow smirk tugged at her lips.
“I’m going to take the fastest route,” she whispered, her voice soft and sly as her fingers dipped just a little lower, gently brushing behind his ear.
“Oh…” he said faintly, eyes fluttering slightly open. “What does that mean?”
She didn’t answer.
Just looked at him with that quiet fire behind her calm eyes.
And kept playing with his hair.
His hand tightened ever so slightly around her waist, pulling her closer, until their noses nearly touched and her breath danced across his lips.
He swallowed slowly.
The bed was too small.
And her body felt too close.
But not once did he think of moving.
Because this right here, her skin, her warmth, her breath near his mouth was everything he had ever wanted.
His eyes were half-lidded now heavy with the kind of desire that didn’t burn loud, but deep. A slow, consuming heat that smoldered behind his gaze as he looked down at her. Her face so close. Her lips right there, soft and slightly damp. She was resting against his chest, the covers lazily pooled at their waists, her fingers still tangled in his hair like she belonged there.
He leaned in more closer and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
Gentle.
Testing.
She didn’t move away. So he kissed her again, slightly firmer this time.
Her lips curved into a small smile against his mouth. That teasing, knowing kind. Like she already knew what it was doing to him.
And suddenly… that quiet broke.
He couldn’t help himself.
His hand slid up her back, pulling her flush against him, and this time, he kissed her harder.
Deeper.
His mouth pressed over hers with urgency, the kiss no longer soft, but hungry. His fingers cupped her jaw as his thumb brushed against her cheek, tilting her face up. He tried to pry her lips open, breath hot and uneven. She gasped quietly and he took that moment.
Their mouths moved together, no longer gentle.
It was fire.
Mouths, breath, fingers tightening in hair, legs tangling beneath the thin blanket.
She made a soft sound against his lips, and it only drove him further.
They had to pull away.
Their breathing was uneven, skin flushed, and the air around them felt warmer than it should’ve. But even with space between them, the tension hadn’t broken—it only thickened, like smoke that refused to leave the room.
Lilith sat up slowly, the sheets slipping slightly off her shoulder, her hair messy and cascading down her back. Her eyes never left him.
Alexander remained where he was, his chest rising and falling beneath the thin fabric of his casual T-shirt, the one he had changed into from the car. His arms were still at his sides, tense, unsure.
Then her voice broke the silence–soft, smoky, low enough to crawl straight into his chest.
“Do you want me to help you?”
The way she said it…
Like a whisper straight from a dream he had no right to have.
His eyes widened slightly, lips parting. “Lili…” he whispered.
She was already moving.
Her fingers brushed his arm as she shifted closer, her presence warm against him. Her gaze dropped slow, deliberate and her hands rested lightly on the hem of his shirt.
